thinking about the overarching themes for each of the four albums in the dema saga and how it really is a perfect metaphor for mental illness and the journey to getting better
blurryface is an album about recognizing and identifying the voices in your head and the anxieties you have and that you really are struggling. its the voices of the insecurities and roadblocks from feeling healthy
trench is about starting that cycle of fighting your battles, of running and being yanked back but still knowing you have to figure out better and better each time how to escape those negative thoughts blocking you from your health and being deeply angry about it
SAI is about the mania you feel when your emotions stop being regulated after exhausting yourself with the constant cycle of running and fighting with the unhealthy parts of your mental state. it’s an optimistically nihilistic album about denial and surrender
clancy is about coming back after crashing and burning and reaching out for help instead of taking everything on yourself, and how the only way you can coexist with yourself is if you let yourself be helped and supported by those who care, and the new fears of having to fight your battles alone and losing your progress only to slip back to square one
