Maybe we have to be the ghosts of people we love, haunting the world with their memory and the lessons they left behind. Maybe there are no specters, no spirits. Just us. Celebrating, dancing, remembering, alive together. And maybe, that's enough.

thinking about how buck placing that photo of bobby in the kitchen surrounded by cookbooks was kind of like his own ofrenda
Can I just say though that I much prefer abuela dying, now, in this beautiful way, over her death possibly coming later off screen. We always complain that things happen to Eddie off screen. Well I'm really glad this wasn't one of them.
Okay I'm seeing a lot of different takes but as a Latina I think they did an amazing job of showing what Dia de los Muertos is about. Am I sad that they killed off abuela? Of course!!!!! I fucking sobbed!!!! I don't want Eddie to be sad either!! But, at least for me, abuela's death felt meaningful.
Faith has always been a part of Eddie's character so I am not surprised at all that religion came up. They had Eddie go on a rollercoaster trying to figure out how he felt about his spirituality.
He went to church with abuela because he loves her and knew it would make her happy. But he even told her that he was unsure about it all because he never felt that connection. She basically told him that he didn't need to go to church to find his faith or find love and he just had to look within. (I don't remember exact dialogue right now i could be wrong here but that's what I got from it). Then the demon girl happens and he goes back to zero and thinking that there's nothing out there, etc. Then abuela dies and he tells pepa "let's pray" and pepa says "she'd love that". He prayed because he knew that's what would make his abuela happy and he did it to honor her.
That brings me back to Dia de los Muertos. It's a holiday meant for remembering and honoring your dead loved ones. Yes, Eddie has people already who have passed away. However, abuela dying is what it took to get Eddie to realize that spirituality isn't black and white. You don't need to believe or not believe. You can take what you need from it and use it to heal. To come together to remember those you've lost with those who are still here. Abuela put her hand on his heart and said this is where love is. Chris put his hand on his heart and said "it feels like they're here with us". Eddie put his hand on his heart and realized...family, his son, his heart, is what's important. And with all that hopefully he can realize that he doesn't need to feel guilty for anything. And who knows what relinquishing that guilt could lead to...
And if you didn't enjoy this episode...well that's okay. I think maybe it just wasn't for you. But just please don't comment on the culture of it all if you don't understand it.

Ok, imagine you're comic accurate Clark Kent and you're a working-class immigrant raised on a farm. You grow up and dedicate your life to helping people while being a total malewife to your Pulitzer prize winner girlfriend. You're despised and targeted by an unethical, megalomaniacal billionaire who thinks his intellect and his power and his wealth entitles him to your inherent abilities and the adoration you've earned through years of nonstop altruism. YOU WERE CREATED BY TWO JEWISH MEN IN THE 1930S
And then people complain about a movie about you being too woke

I love the Thunderbolts fandom because there’s one side of the fandom that’s like “oh! Bob is a lil’ wholesome baby and he’s so innocent and perfect <33” and the other side is like “PUT WALKER AND HIM IN A ROOM AND LET HIM GET PREGNANT” and we all fall somewhere on this spectrum
john likely being mid to late thirties and bob likely being late twenties.... such a good age gap.... the daddy kinks... the angst....... the generation miscommunication... bob the zillenial and john the millenial..
