He understood completely that she got caught up in her work, and that was one of the many reasons why he admired her. She didn’t skimp on her work or look at cases like they were a burden. She upheld the law to the best of her ability and far surpassed most members of the MPD, not to mention she was sharp as a tack.

There was only one thing that she didn’t seem to catch, however, and that was the fact that Conan was aware of her relationship with Takagi.

“I know you two are together,” he said as he headed for the door, “everyone knows you two are together. You don’t have to hide it.”

     THE LIGHTEST HINT OF a blush comes onto her face at Conan’s remark, even as she attempted to give him a dry look. She was rather caught off-guard by the remark, as she did think that Conan wasn’t aware of her and Wataru’s relationship ( Wataru, on the other hand, had kept on telling her that they didn’t need to hide it in front of Conan, but she had disagreed ). 

             “That may be so, but it’s still considered inappropriate for two police officers in the same division to be in a relationship together,” she states awkwardly as they made their way into the car and she unlocks it, even though she’s clearly not comfortable talking about this ( not because Conan was a kid, but because she wasn’t really the type to talk about relationships in general ). “Megure-keibu has been pretty understanding, but if Matsumoto-kanchō found out, we’d probably have to be separated.”

      SHE WINCES AT THE muttered comment ( she has to have very good hearing in her line of work ), and guilt was apparent on her face as she rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly even as she put on her shoes with one hand. She did occasionally get so involved with a case that she forgets that she has to pick Conan up from school, or even to text him to say that she’ll be late or not coming. Luckily, Wataru was much better at remembering than she was, but she really needed to get more used to texting Conan ( she’s been very much used to living alone before Conan came ). 

          “If I don’t come pick you up, you can definitely call me or Wa -- Takagi, and one of us will pick you up or send an officer down,” she tells Conan before grabbing her car keys. “Alright, let’s go!”
