The Fay • Chapter One

Narrators POV Mari and her little sister Bella had come to camp 3 months ago. Mari, a 21 year old is 2 years older than Bella, who’s 19. Unlike her big sister, Bella is soft spoken to say the least, and only talks to Mari. Mari is beautiful, and rivals even the most coveted of flowers, she has long orange hair, and warm brown eyes. Her sun kissed skin glows with joy, and radiates love. However her sister has long blond hair, and mesmerizing purple eyes, with olive skin. No one at the base camp knows of her eyes, but he and Mari. She was equal, if not more beautiful than Mari, who is in love with a boy named Harry Styles.

Harry and his four friends, Louis, Niall, Liam, and Zayn, are shapeshifters. They’ve been at this base camp for months now, waiting to be put into action against the evil force, Addanac. This creature has never been seen by someone who has lived to tell anyone what it looks like, and why it’s threatening all the realms on Earth: the Humans Realm, the Woodlands Realm, and the Moonlight Realm, which the Shapeshifters protect. Mari and her sister are from the Woodlands. There are many creatures from the Woodlands, The Elves, The Nymphs, Sprites, Pixies, but the kingdom of Mari and Bella, are the most beautiful, the Fay, or the Fairies. They are born from petals of different flowers, for which their name and appearances takes after, however, no one may know their true flowers name, until their powers are needed. Some Fairies have the power to change someone’s emotions to joy, some may bring life, while some may bring death, pain, and depression, depending on their flowers meaning. Fairies born from the petal of a cactus flower have the power to give anyone enhanced endurance, while Cyprus Fairies can make anyone feel despair, and grief. The darker a Fay’s powers, the more powerful they are capable of being.

The Addanac is not of Human, Moon, or Woodland origin. It has come from an unknown realm that seeks to destroy us. And the base camp is being called upon, now everyone must begin training for the coming battle.

The Fay • Chapter Two

Harry POV

Mari was the most beautiful person I had ever laid eyes on. She glowed every time I saw her, and had the most beautiful smile. We’d been together ever since we met, yet I was starting to get antsy, and maybe it was time for a new distraction.

Mari POV

As I walked hand in hand with Harry, I couldn’t help but think of how lucky I was. We were in love, and he was the most handsome person I have ever met. I loved hearing him say my name with his deep voice that carried a Moonlight Realm Accent. I hadn’t come to base camp for myself, my sister had been recruited, and wouldn’t go alone. I knew I had to do my duty to the Fay, so I agreed to join her. That was one of the smartest decisions I’d ever made, I never would of met Harry otherwise. When we had gotten the recruitment letter from the King, my family had been so proud to have a powerful daughter. Bella was always so quiet, almost silent, especially here. She’d talk to me in one word whispered questions. I’d never really known my sister. One of the only things I knew about her that was important, were her eyes. Their purple complexion was mesmerizing, but if anyone knew about her eyes, they could figure out her true flower, which would mean she’d lose her powers. Harry was always so sweet to her, though they were the same age, he acted like she was his little sister and it just made my heart melt. As we walked in the house, Bella was sleeping on the couch still wearing her nightgown, revealing her flawless olive skin. I asked Harry to go get some water from the kitchen as I went to quickly wake up Bella.

Bella POV

Mari was shaking me awake. I growled and tossed over onto my other side. She whispered in my ear that Harry had just come in. I rolled my eyes behind my eyelids. Maris stupid shapeshifter boyfriend treated me like I was five years old. It drove me insane considering we’re the same age, and I was at least twice as powerful as him. Only I knew my true powers, and I wasn’t about to let that ass see my eyes. They’re almost a dead giveaway as to my true flower, and until training began, I had to continue to hide them. As I ran up the stairs I heard the camp horn, signaling a meeting at the center circle of the camp. I rolled my eyes and sprinted to get on a lose white sweater, and black jeans. As I laced up my combat boots, Mari knocked and threw my sunglasses on the bed “Thanks.” I said quietly as she nodded and left with Harry to the camp meeting giggling like an idiot. I had to admit, if Harry wasn’t such an ass, he would be even hotter than he already is. No Fairie would admit it, but shapeshifters and Fay are the equivalents of beauty in our realms. It wasn’t uncommon for our kinds to fall in love, Mari and Harry being proof of that.

When I got to the circle, I sat next to a few other Fay, and waited for the announcement. As the captains of the Moonlight, and Woodlands Factions walked to the middle of the circle, both held serious expression plagued with fear. I watched intently behind my sunglasses as they spoke with clarity of the news received from the Armies up north. “Fellow members of base camp number 23, we are to inform you that the Armies of the north have located the enemy.” Everyone intently listened to the next statement, “There appears to be an army of unknown creatures assembling. Based on this news, we have decided that training for all begins tomorrow at 7 am sharp. We will begin by showcasing each factions abilities, starting with the Moonlight Realm. This will show us how much ability we have to work with, and who will be out leaders in upcoming battles, starting with vampires, followed by the Wicca, and ending with shapeshifters.” The Woodlands captain described our schedule, “Fay will begin immediately after shapeshifters, followed by elves, pixies, sprites, and to round it all out, nymphs in the order of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Also I hear by decree that the Fairie King has given all the Fay his assurance, that they may reveal their true flower anytime in the next 48 hours.” In order to release our true flowers, and keep our powers, the King must put his blood into a small bowl made of Fairie dust. The bowl evaporates the blood with its aura, and once all the blood is evaporated, the Fay may no longer reveal their true flowers. The combination of the royal blood and Fairie dust makes all of the Fay’s powers heightened, giving them the strength to break free of the curse put on the Fay millennias ago. As I heard the announcement, a soft hum of flower names surrounded my hearing. “Atropa Belladonna, Deadly Nightshade.” I said my name quietly as I took of my sunglasses.

The Fay • Chapter Three

Harry POV

The announcement struck so many emotions in me, I couldn’t decide which to put on my blank face, however the overriding feeling was relief. Months of uncertainty as to the enemy, and my curiosity towards Mari’s flower would finally be resolved. She looked at me with glowing eyes and seemed to sing the words “Tagetes, Marigold.” She was beaming. I could sense her relief as well, not having to hide anything from me anymore. I kissed her tenderly on the lips. When she broke the kiss to embrace me, I opened my eyes to see a girl with purple eyes looking at Mari and I. “Mari,” I questioned, “who is that?” She pulled away from me as she followed my gaze to the Fairie. “Harry, that’s Bella.” My jaw dropped. I’d never seen Bella, unless she was laying down, or had her back towards me. She was beautiful, possibly more gorgeous than her sister. I couldn’t believe I had treated her like a child. Suddenly, she stood up and began to walk over to us. Mari interrupted my thoughts when she squealed with delight as she embraced Bella. I got up and walked over to the guys, not wanting to be to close to Bella. “Whose the Fay with the purple eyes?” Zayn asked me. “It’s Mari’s sister, Bella.” All of them looked at me with disbelief covering their faces. “I wonder what her true flower is,” Niall stated after a few seconds I shrugged, not wanting anyone to know my thoughts. Mari had been a nice distraction from all of the waiting, but I was starting to wonder if her sister would suit me better. Bella glanced at me, and I winked. She acted as if she didn’t see it and walked back to her quarters. This would be fun.

Bella POV

My stomach turned over and over creating tangled knots. No one knows my true flower but my family, and even then only I know my powers. I trudged to the center circle in my workout tank top and pants. My black sneakers matched my outfit, that had purple lines on my chest and the sides of my legs. It was odd to walk outside without my sunglasses. I kept my head down to avoid anyone seeing my eyes. Harry had seen them and began to act weird, almost as if he was flirting with me. I didn’t want anyone else to do that. I sat next to Mari in the Fay seats, just before the vampires began. The Vampires showed their night vision abilities, many times before when power would go out at camp, but at the showcase, they demonstrated they’re flying abilities, how they could use echolocation to detect enemies, speed, and strength, as well as their mind control. Next was the Wicca. As they demonstrated a few spells, I found myself drawn to the darker spells, as if I was a magnet to every word that hung on their lips as they chanted spells to resurrect the dead, and cause pain on something without any contact. A new found desire for the evil that laced every enchantment they casted grew within me, and it frightened me. As each shapeshifter has specific animals they shift into, they divided into their teams, birds of prey, felines, water creatures (who’s demonstration was in the pool next to the circle), and finally Harry’s team, the wolves. Shapeshifters don’t take complete form of their animal, they become an enlarged, stronger, and deadlier version of the original. Once a shifter turns 15, they can begin to control their abilities. They don’t last very long as strong warriors, due to the constant changing of muscle, and bone, their bodies weather away, an you began to think and act like your animal, the longer they shift, so 25 tends to be the age shifters stop, depending on how strong their bodies and minds are. As Harry walked back to his seat, he glanced at me at smirked. I looked away as my brow furrowed, “Was he really so shallow, to only show me any attention once he sees my beauty?” I thought. I felt sick, Harry was an even bigger pig then I had thought.

The Fay showcase was beautiful to say the least. A young girl with white hair, named Dara, was a Datura Fairie, the flower of deceit. She convince a shifter that she was his mother, and another that he was in a rainstorm. A 20 year old named Frax had light purple hair, with dark purple streaks, a Fraxinella child that could control and make fire, was cut off by her sister, Fic with icy blue eyes, and spiky yellow white hair, sprayed ice from her hand towards a flame coming from Frax’s hand and turned the flame to ice, which then fell to the ground and shattered. Frax and Fic laughed it off and sat down. My name was called and I froze. As I stood up slowly and walked to the center of the circle I pointed to my sister and gestured for her to come up next to me. She walked quickly towards me. “Sing.” I whispered in her ear, and she began to hold a note with a confused look on her face, matching the general feel of the crowd. I took my hand and covered her mouth.

The Fay • Chapter Four

As I moved my hand from Mari’s lips a second later, she was still singing, but no sound came from her mouth. Then she tried to speak and her face became increasingly more worried. I opened my hand which had been in a fist, and revealed a small glowing orb the color of Mari’s hair. She giggled, and, thankfully no sound came out of her mouth. I smiled and told her to sing again. as she began, I placed the orb on her lips and she Had her voice back. A look of understanding on her face, as well as everyone elses. they thought that i was done, if only. As Mari went back to her seat, I felt a hand clasp my shoulder, as the Woodlands Captains low monotone voice announced my next demonstration. “Bella will now demonstrate her other abilities on a prisoner.” I knew what he meant and I immediately shook my head. He whispered in my ear that if I didn’t do it, he’d punish me and my family for not following the Fairie Kings orders. I looked down at the ground and nodded, as a tear escaped one of my eyes.

Harry POV

Bella began to cry as the Woodlands Captain signaled the guards to bring a thin and weak old man to her feet. She kneeled down next to him. What ability could possibly be so upsetting to her? Shifters would almost do anything to have individual abilities, and not all be so similar, I just didn’t understand. She didn’t just look scared now, she looked sad for this old prisoner. We still hadn’t been told her true flower, and it was killing me. Everyone wanted to know why she had purple eyes. Last night as some of the Fay were talking, I heard a couple of Fay claiming to know what flower she was. The weathered old man looked cold, as if on the brink of death itself. His eyes had no color, his hair so thin around his face, it almost looked transparent. Bella began to move her hands, I looked over at Mari, trying to see if she knew. as i glanced at her, for the first time since wed met, she didn’t glow, or smile towards her sister. Her sun kissed skin turned almost pale white, and her eyes were steel blue. As I looked around the other Fay were reacting the same way. They were terrified.

Bella POV

I began with the other ability that I was proud of, I swept my hand over his tired eyes and they closed immediately, when I swept it back, he awoke from the brief sleep I’d induced. Now I knew what I had to do. I bowed my head to the old man’s ear and said “I’m so sorry sir, I had no choice.” He whispered back, barely moving his lips, “I’d rather die than spend another day in that cell block after 40 years.” I looked at him with an expression if horror, but not long enough for anyone to notice. This poor old man had been in a concrete cell for 40 years, more than double the amount of time is been in this world. As I held back tears, I placed my long thin fingers delicately above his heart. I whispered goodbye and pulled an orb the color of the mans eyes from his body, and my hand absorbed the orb. within seconds, his life force no longer existed. The body began to turn purple like my eyes, starting with his lips and working its way through the rest of his body as his cold grey eyes stared into my soul. I felt someone pick me up and cradle me like a baby, as they ran towards my quarters. I looked up to see Harry, looking extremely stern and determined. We were in my room seconds later, as Harry set me down on my bed. I didn’t fight the tears, it was a necessary thing after a Taking, I’d only ever done dying things, the King would send me them in secret to practice. Every time to cleanse my body of the soul I have to cry, if I don’t then the souls will stay inside me until I cry. If a soul stays, I get their thoughts, feelings, and physical pain, which for a dying soul, can be excruciating.

The Fay • Chapter Five

Harry POV

The tears streamed down her face, though she was sleeping. I soon realized that she must of been cleansing the old man’s soul from her body, only one Fairie in the history of the Fay could control the Taking, she became queen. Could Bella be the next? She was strong enough to take the man’s, but he was dying. To take a soul from a dying man is hard, but child’s play compared to living souls. The tears stopped, and she slept soundly. I went towards the door which was burst open by the guys, and Mari. “Care to knock.” It’s my house Mari remarked in an annoyed tone. “She’s upstairs Mari.” As she began upstairs, her hands began to glow. I quietly followed her to Bella’s room where she placed her hand on her sisters heart, and the glow transferred into Bella’s body. All of a sudden Bella began to laugh as her eyes fluttered open and her eyes seemed to glow from within, but she soon settled back to sleep with a small smile on her pale pink lips. “So that’s your power, love,” Mari turned around startled. “Yes, I can give someone the feeling of happiness.” I smiled, “Well, I already knew that.” I tried to come off as sincere, and it worked. Mari walked over to me and smiled before she stood on her tiptoes and began to kiss me sweetly, but I still felt nothing. It had been months and the spark we used to have just fizzled out. I felt her smile on my lips, and I did the same. Suddenly I heard a small voice say “Get out of my room.” Mari sighed and broke the kiss, “Welcome back, Bella.” She smirked and got up, leaving towards the bathroom across the hall. As she closed the door, I suddenly realized how flawless she was, her olive skin was perfect, and her blonde hair fell exactly in the right places. Before I continued my thoughts, a large BANG BANG BANG came from the front door. Mari and I raced down stairs only to find the guys guarding the staircase from the Woodland and Moonlight Captains. “How nice of you to join us Harry, Mari.” The Moonlight Captain was always an ass to everyone, but this time it was different. This time we knew what he wanted, as well as the other Captain, or so we thought.

Bella POV

I froze the second I left the bathroom, I could hear the Captains voices arguing with Mari about something. Quietly, I approached the stairway, “You forced Bella into doing that. Everyone knows a Taking requires practice, which she’s had none of.” “My dear Mari, Bella has been practicing in secret since she was 10.” “What? How is that possible, someone is always with her.” I walked onto the stairway attracting everyone’s attention, now seeing Harry and his posse guarding the staircase, I mentally rolled my eyes. I can take care of myself! “Not at night, when my powers are strongest.” Mari gasped. “Just the person we wanted to see.” “Coming to threaten me again?” The captains laughed in unison, and shook their heads, “We’ve come to inform you, that since your powers are strongest at night, you will train with the Moonlight Realm.” This was to be expected. The guys began to protest that it was to dangerous, I took their voices in a second. The look of shock that registered on their faces was priceless, I almost couldn’t help laughing as, “I can take care of myself.” I scolded and with that I tossed their voices back and walked to my room, shutting my door behind me.

There was a knock on my door, and as I walked over I expected it to be Mari, but to my surprise there stood Harry in my door way looking me in the eyes. “What do you want?” I said rather annoyed by his cocky presence. “I wanted to ask you something.” I knew exactly what, and before he got the chance to say anything else, I blurted it out. “Atropa Belladonna, Deadly Nightshade.” His green eyes grew as I spoke my true flowers name. “The last Nightshade Fairie was the Queen.” I nodded, “I was born the day she died.” He collected himself, “That’s not the only reason I came up here,” he stated in a seductive voice.

Harry POV

I began to walk toward her and closed the door behind me. She walked backwards until I pinned her to the wall, my body pressed up against hers. She looked confused, as if she knew this was wrong, but wanted it all the same. I smiled deviously, “You know you want it.” I whispered on her neck, before placing a kiss on her collar bone. I moved my way up her neck, until I reached her lips, and claimed them as mine. She kissed me back with a passion I didn’t know she had. She let my tongue in and I quickly won dominance. As I moved my lips back down to her neck, she was gasping and moaning with pleasure, my hands began to explore the length of her body. Swiftly I put my hand under her shirt and went back to her lips, but before anything else happened, I felt a pain shock my lips. I stumbled back from Bella and looked in the small mirror that hung on her wall. My lips looked as if they were dies purple, the same color as her eyes. “What the hell.” Bella smiled, and walked behind me, whispering in my ear, “I’m not that easy.” Once I focused back on my lips, they were their normal color again. I smiled and and turned around grabbing her waist, “We’ll just have to see about that,” I paused, getting close to her ear and whispering, “won’t we?” She smiled and I felt her gaze on me as I walked out of the room. Once in the hallway I heard Mari in her room, so I went to go tell her I was leaving.

The Fay • Chapter Seven

Harry POV

Fay loved to show off their powers, considering very few ever got to. Some made people fall in love with them, another made a man tell her his true feelings about her, which consisted of him telling her how hot she was, though he had a girlfriend, yet, I couldn’t stop thinking about Bella. She was sitting at the end of the Fay section alone with her knees tucked under her arms. Our eyes met for a minute, and the familiar sting on my lips came back. I laughed and covered my mouth. No one could know, but I was sure Bella would be my next girl.

Training began an the wolves trained the same time as Bella. We formed our pack and went over dozens and dozens of fighting techniques. After a while, I looked over at Bella. She had a large cut on her arm. I gasped as the others glanced at her as well. I almost ran over to her, but suddenly she took a small mice in her hand, and did the same thing to the creature, as she had to the old man. Then instead of absorbing the orb in her hand it was placed on her arm, where the light faded as her cut healed completely. A collective gasp came from the pack and Bella glanced at us. She ran to the bathroom with me on her tail. I grabbed her arm once I caught up to her. “Slow down tiger.” I joked as she looked up at me innocently, “Hi.” She said in a sweet voice. “That was amazing how you healed yourself.” She shrugged, “I’ve done it hundreds of times before,” her shirt had bits of blood on it indicating the now nonexistent cut once inhabiting her forearm. “Can you do that for others, or only yourself?” She laughed, “I’ve never tried it before,” I looked at her confused, “We’ll I could never show my powers before, and besides its to risky.” “What’s so risky about it?” I said with a furrowed brow.

“Not everyone can absorb a soul, and if their body rejects it, they will feel excruciating pain, and may die depending on their bodies intolerance.” “I didn’t know that.” I could see why she wouldn’t want to risk someone’s life. Bella POV Once the pack was done with their battle sequences, we all went in the floor for basic training and strength building. Everyone seemed to thing I was weak, but I wasn’t stupid. If anyone did see my eyes, they could try to kidnap me, or worse. I went into the boxing ring with one of Harry’s friends, his name was Niall. He started cracking jokes and said he’d take it easy on me. I smiled sweetly at him, and then punched him in the stomach. He instantly doubled over and the rest of the pack began literally howling in laughter. Once Niall recovered, he was laughing to. After a couple of rounds, I beat Niall, yet he was very light hearted about it and began to pretend pout which even made me laugh. Harry met my gaze and I focused on a small spot a couple of centimeters from his jawline. “Harry it looks like you have a hickey on your neck.” Zayn laughed. Looking at the purple spot I’d given him a second ago, he smiled and looked at me with humor in his green eyes. Harry was the obvious leader of his pack as he beat everyone in it with only a few rounds. “We’re going to go grab some lunch, are you guys coming?” Niall said to Harry and I as we we’re still working out, “Nah, I think Bella and I still need to go in the ring, but well catch up with you.” Niall looked to me for assurance and I smiled and nodded. I was going to kick Harry’s ass. ••• After three tied rounds where they went for 10 minutes each, we have up, “Should we go get lunch?” Harry smiled as we dangled our feet off the side of the ring, arms extended over the ropes, “What’s another ten minutes,” I knew what he had in mind. Well I’m starving so see you there.“ "Ouch.” “You snooze you lose shifter.” I hollered as I walked towards the door. Suddenly I felt arms snake around my waist and hit breath on my neck, “Who said anything about snoozing,” Harry smiled against my neck and began to kiss and nibble on it. I moaned but broke out of his arms, “I’m just repaying you from earlier Bella,” I smiled, “That wasn’t a present.” I teased as I pushed the doors open. ••• The cafeteria was huge and white, almost as if we were in school again. I hated meals, because Mari was always with her friends, and lately the other Fay kept their distance from me after they learned I was the queens reincarnate. Being a reincarnate never really meant anything to me. It didn’t mean anything in history as far as I know, being that Queen Hollan was the first Nightshade to be royal, and it didn’t mean I was going to be. Suddenly, I heard my name being called by a familiar voice as I broke out of my thoughts, “Bella come sit with us!” I heard Niall practically decree in front of the entire camp. Because of training schedule, I had to train at night, so I got a cup of coffee to hopefully keep me awake till dawn.

A Fairie with short pink hair, and yellow eyes ran up to the packs table right as I was sitting down, “Is it true?” “What are you referring to love?” Asked Liam, a brown haired shifter in Harry’s pack, causing the girl to turn the color of her hair, “We’ll, ummm e-everybody is saying that Harry just dumped Mari.” I could feel myself go pale, and felt nauseous.

If marigolds aren’t happy, no ones happy.

The Fay • Chapter Eight

Bella POV

The fight lasted an hour. Mari was furious her skin turning a dark shade, no longer glowing or sun kissed. She had heard the rumors about Harry an I, and she confronted Harry about it he simply broke up with her. My sister could make me yell, unlike most people and I said that if he really cared about her, he wouldn’t of made any moves on me. She sighed, “He does care,” she had calmed down, and was now only slightly crying instead of the perpetual sob from 5 minutes ago, “he just didn’t care about me.” She was done. Marigolds could only be angry for so long. Their nature was to be happy, and when they weren’t their whole demeanor changed for the worst.

The captains had called me for a meeting, when I entered their joint office, I knew they meant business and sat in a chair directly across from the woodlands captain. “We need to speak to you, Ms. Bella, about your future service to the army of the realms. We expect you will be appointed a career in either the royal family, or the army, considering your powers. As you know, the Fay prince is only a few years off from being crown king, as his father’s century ends in 3 years. You only have 11 years left until you die, and we intend to get full use of a matured Belladonna, seeing another isn’t set to be available in the next 26 years minimum, and our war is raging.” He finished waiting for my compliant response. “If I don’t use my powers for a year when I’m 25, I can live until I’m 40. I believe that to be the best route for your needs, as well as mine.” They nodded in approval, “As for the questions surrounding my career, my powers would be more useful in the army, as you know of the characteristics the last queen, nightshades don’t like to be loud and in the spotlight.” The captains smile at our understanding, and the fact that I just repeated to them exactly what they wanted to hear. I was dismissed. Harry was standing outside the opened door to the office with a look of shock on his face. “11 years?” Not many knew of the defects a nightshade Fairie has. Death comes at a cost, the more I use my powers the weaker I become, until, as the last queen, I become death. “That was none of your business.” I sneared as I walked out of the building towards my dorms. “I’m showing concern for the fact that your killing yourself every time you use your powers, and yet, my concern is angering you.” “Not even my sister knows of this Harry, none of my family, only the king. I’ve known since I was old enough to understand death, it’s my most precious secret and now the insensitive prick who just dumped my sister after making moves on me knows before my family!” Harry backed away as I felt the veins in my eyes pulse, they turn a dark purple, almost black, when I get angry. “I have every right to be mad.” I yelled as I walked up my quarters steps and slammed the door in Harry’s confused and scared face, people need to learn not to mess with me when I’m angry.

Harry POV

Her eyes, they looked black, she stood as if she was going to kill me just by looking at me. I was scared for the very first time in a while. That’s when I accepted the fact that Bella had an endless supply of darkness eating away at her body, and soul, and had to deal with knowing the monster she could become since she was able to speak. Suddenly I heard a shuffle of footsteps as my pack came up from behind me. “What in the hell did Bella just do.” “She’s dying. Every time she uses her powers it’s sucking the life out of her.” I heard the boys gasp, “Can’t she just stop for a while?” Niall asked, “A year grants her a decade, who knows how long after that.” “A powerless Fay is a death sentence for a month, how could she survive a year?” Zayn questioned with a concerned look on his face.
