Here’s what I’ve learned from Postmates so far:
1) The base pay is absolute shit and tipping isn’t required (and often isn’t done at all) but when you do get tips, they’re usually pretty hearty. Ex. I picked up several drinks and sandwiches from Chik-fil-A, and took them to their office. $5 payout from Posties, but $8 tip from Homeslice; $13 total for about 45 minutes (because of the long lunch line) So sometimes its worth it.
2) It’s somehow simultaneously very little work and very hard work. At least as a walker (which is what I do), They can send you on some pretty long foot journeys, which can tire you out faster. But going into Chipotle, and picking up someones burrito bowl and bringing it to them is SO SIMPLE.
3) Overall, I wouldn’t take this instead of a real work call (I’m a freelancer so my schedule is always flux) but I made more money than I would have sitting at home. It seems like a good side hustle if you have a good pair of sneakers and a couple hours to kill.
