As canon as possible (portrays the abusive/unhealthy behaviors they may have)

Softened (“the exception” trope, bending canon for comfort/joy but still horror)

Fantasy (completely disregards most canon, usually for sexual/silly/comfort)

All you can eat (If the character is involved you are happy, regardless of how)

Hrrrmm I wanna talk more w/ being a little critique hater on the collector series and (what will never be) the third movie bc asa emory is one of my favorite & most passionate topics ever so I will share my thoughts,,, yap session ahead

The Collection is my favorite out of the series (due to the scenery/aesthetic hehe); however, there are some things randall didn’t catch onto from juan that he should’ve, and the movie seemed rather rushed: It didn’t flow as smoothly as the first one.

Imagine how rushed & sporadic the third one would be, having YET ANOTHER ACTOR CHANGE so that consistency is butchered right off the back. Plus how were they gonna continue it anyway?? Have asa get himself free then killed finally by arkin at the end?

In theory since the woman who played arkin’s wife/ex-wife had planned on returning as well (i think) I’m suspecting they probably wanted asa to go after arkin’s family after getting himself free or something along those lines

Just tapping into the inconsistencies again (similar to how they had asa keeping tarantulas in glass jars despite in the first one he saved a spider from inside the house first movie, if he was going to keep tarantulas I doubt he’d have a careless enclosure) thre would be SO MANY MORE. I CAN’T TAKE ITT

As much as I’d love to see asa killing some cops, it ain’t worth jumbling his (already pretty jumbled) character 😞 plus they’d have his face reveal with an actor who is for sure totally different from the first two, I hate that change the most

ermm small little rant/talk about the collector movies because I have to talk about it I HAVE TO

imo Juan did a better job because he really captivated that interesting grotesque “spider” vibe; whereas Randall (though not his fault entirely) is more canine-esque(?) if that makes sense?

Juan being more (overly) expressive & weird while Randall stuck to the more uhh serious silent type ig??

I love how randall captured his anger though, and his irritability/frustration to things going wrong. I think he did a fantastic job in that regard.

I believe it is fact Juan had a better touch into Asa Emory as a character. In this interview i love a lot he explains he was blind for his character and that he did this on purpose, as well as making sure to be aware of lighting and such.

Now I do not agree that randall was in any way selfish or in the wrong for this role. I think it’s weird to look down on someone for accepting money handed to them. Randall didn’t even do a bad job,, his twist on Asa was just a little bland LOL

anyway this was me rambling I’m in no way a movie critic, I’m just extremely passionate about asa emory and the collection <3
