one reason why I'd prefer it if perisex people would just shut up about intersex people is the extremely ignorant takes they come up with. 'intersex cis women are privileged over trans women, because they're treated like women' is a real take that I've been exposed to. this is why perisex people shouldn't ever be taken seriously when it comes to intersex people, because a lot of them genuinely think like this and they have no idea what they're talking about.
if you knew even a little bit about how the average intersex woman is treated, you would not think that they are more likely to be treated like 'normal' women or protected by society. it's time to actually listen to intersex people instead of talking over us.
we're treated like trash. viciously. if its ok w you OP, i wanna just share a story for the people who dont understand how serious this actually is. but um. TW for intersexism & violence:
my mother has the same intersex variation as me (its genetic). she'd tell me these stories when i'd come home crying saying the girls and boys at school were being cruel to me. she'd tell me it was them who was wrong. because:
when my mother was a girl, she was bullied horrendously - emotionally and physically. they would follow her down the halls. they called her names. said she looked like a boy, that she wasn't a real girl. they'd corner her in the halls and beat her up. then they'd force her to fight other bullied kids. groups of students would watch. she won a few. but she never wanted to fight or hurt anyone.
she was an intersex girl who didnt pass as a girl, so she was assaulted for it and treated like a dog. she started performing femininity to protect herself. its only within the past few years she's decided to express herself more casually and cut her hair again.
ive talked about this on tumblr before but im gonna keep sharing it because. the violence and hatred we face is real and just as dangerous.
anyone who thinks intersex people arent targeted like this doesnt fucking understand at all and im so so tired of it.
