‘‘Death feed life. Dead come back, dead born new again.’‘ It said, while trying to make what should have been sad, sympathetic expression. Mortals took such bad to death, and especially of family members. Spirit of Fire didn’t really understand point of sadness, or of happiness too.
‘‘Humans dumb. Humans lazy and bad. World better without. Nobody smart be like that.’‘ It rambled, sort of glee apparent on it’s face as it stared towards child, moving closer, walking like monkey to look at child in eyes.
“That’s not the point.” Mappa very well knew that death didn’t necessarily mean the end. As a shaman, he could communicate with ghosts. Despite this, he knew saw his mother after her death, had no idea where she was, and could only live with the bitterness that was left with him after her murder.
He couldn’t help but blink a few times as the spirit moved closer to him, but he made no move to move away from it. “That’s exactly right. The world would be better off without them.”
Mortals were so complicated. Dead was dead and living was living and both were one, energy and matter just moved around while soul and memory went on. But it said nothing. It thought it may be in poor taste.
‘‘Yes! Yes! Yes so yes. Was better, was nicer before. We remember, we been happy and content. They came and ruin our balance.’‘ How smart, how fun a creature! Finally somebody reasonable!
