Useful if this is how you think, though often I don’t see the outline until after the draft is written, because after awhile one just internalize this kind of stuff from all the media one ingests. Point is, use if helpful, ignore if not.
Another suggestion for anyone interested: because one of my weaknesses as a writer is sustaining narrative momentum, I’ve recently started using this mystery novel breakdown as a template, even though mystery/detective isn’t the genre I write in. It’s really useful as a way to keep track of what the story needs at a given moment in terms of balance and character.
this is either the dumbest thing I’ve ever made or the culmination
Studio MDHR is committed to using traditional hand-drawn animation for whatever comes after Cuphead.
here’s my question……………if an animal was extremely endangered, like borderline almost extinct…..could beast boy……y’know…..
you all ignored this so im bringing it back
Yes. He could.
yeah, he can turn into fucking dinosaurs so of course he can turn into near extinct animals. fuck kinda question is this?

When people go off about how English is the worst language, I just wanna point out a few things:
- Our future tense requires only one word (looking at you, Spanish)
- Words don’t change meanings depending on tone (Cantonese)
- We don’t live in some bizarre Beauty And The Beast world where we give inanimate objects genders (romance languages, German)
- Likewise, we don’t have have two different words for “they” because we don’t care whether “they” were male or female (Spanish, French)
- There’s no formal “you” because we don’t play mind games about whether or not we respect you (Spanish, German)
- We don’t alter the whole fucking language based on how much we respect you (Japanese)
- The letters and sounds might not be consistent, but at least we have letters, not just pictures (Mandarin)
- We don’t have a fucking stupid tense specifically for talking to two people because some idiot decided that a two-person tense was necessary (Arabic)
So yeah, I think we’re doing okay as a language
Oh and some of our plurals are irregular, but at least it’s not like every goddamn plural is an entirely new word so you have to learn every word twice
At least it’s not like that, right? Right, Arabic? WHAT A DUMB IDEA THAT WOULD BE, HUH, ARABIC?
-The whole finnish language
Imagine a dragon at Antiques Roadshow, appraising its hoard
Imagine the dragon hoards monetarily worthless things like newspapers or old bones and the person appraising it getting more and more nervous about telling the dragon their stuff isnt worth anything
Imagine that the dragon knows this and just likes watching the person squirm.
The dragon actually hoards uncomfortable situations
I just love it when people come up with random weird animal or dragon things and iguanamouth illustrates them just because.
WOW THAT DRAGON
Fran man, I'm sure you get asked this plenty - but what art supplies do you use? Big fan! Just ordered! Thanks for making cool things!
First off, I need to stress: use cheap materials! I think one of the most common procrastination-techniques among artists is to go in search of a new pen or ink or something when you’re feeling uninspired. It might be more productive to go read a book or newspaper or take a walk.
I keep my kit small and portable, so I don’t have to sit home. Here’s my favorite drawing tools:
Stillman & Birn Alpha Series sketchbook - they’re easy to find and the paper holds up to watercolor.
Homemade panel template - so I don’t sit there for twenty minutes trying to get my four square nice and even.
Windsor & Newton mini watercolor kit - Keeps things nice and simple!
Deleter Black 4 Waterproof Ink - Don’t get it on your clothes! Cheaper ink is fine, but this stuff lasts a while and doesn’t smudge.
Pentel .5 mechanical pencil - I’ve used the same one for every comic. Great for the initial sketch (and cheap!)
Pentel Clic Eraser - nice for erasing very specific things.
Little chunks of Prismacolor erasers - For bigger mistakes. When they break into pieces, they just get more precise.
Waterbrush pen - for watercoloring on the go
Pentel GFKP Brush Pen - my favorite. I washed out the old cartridge (they’re really expensive!) and I refilled it with Deleter waterproof ink using a syringe. Way cheaper, and I can use the ink I like.
Nib Pen and nibs - for lettering.
Folded paper towel - for blotting watercolors so they don’t get too dark or make a mess.

Exclusive: Dan Harmon sounds off: ‘I loathe these people’
Continues Harmon: “These knobs, that want to protect the content they think they own — and somehow combine that with their need to be proud of something they have, which is often only their race or gender. It’s offensive to me as someone who was born male and white, and still works way harder than them, that there’s some white male [fan out there] trying to further some creepy agenda by ‘protecting’ my work. I’ve made no bones about the fact that I loathe these people. It f—ing sucks. And the only thing I can say is if you’re lucky enough to make a show that is really good that people like, that means some bad people are going to like it too. You can’t just insist that everybody who watches your show get their head on straight … And I’m speaking for myself — I don’t want the show to have a political stance. But at the same time, individually, these [harassers] aren’t politicians and don’t represent politics. They represent some shit that I probably believed when I was 15.”
