“Do I even have to say it? You’ve lost another Empress.”
You so, 💞💖💕💓💗 fucking, 💞💖💕💓💗 precious, 💞💖💕💓💗 when you, 💞💖💕💓💗 smile 💞💖💕💓💗
Oh yeah that reminds me, speaking of Death of the Author and the Outsider from Dishonored
Official wraith verdict is that Death of the Outsider isn’t canon and neither is the cutscene in Dishonored 2 about how the Outsider was a kid who was sacrificed millenia ago (which was awkwardly shoved into the game to set up Death of the Outsider).
The Outsider is God, a whale, and the direct embodiment of the Void, and he has always been and will always be.
“Ok but what if this god used to be human” is a thoroughly exhausted trope and doesn’t make any sense in the context of Dishonored. The Outsider predates humanity and shoulders the weight of the world on his back. If you somehow managed to kill him, you’d be destroying the world as well. He’s not just a god, he’s God.
Plus, on a meta level, he’s a stand-in for the player and the game developers. This is important because both the player and the game developers are invulnerable and utterly unconcerned about consequences because they exist Outside of the game itself.
it's interesting.... and... There are a million reasons why DoTO should not be Canon. There are a million moments when this game breaks the canon of the Dishonored universe. (especially, if we consider the books canon...... aghhh....)

Shui Cultural Center by West-Line Studio
Located in the Southeastern part of Guizhou Province, the Shui Cultural Center is a gateway to Sandu County, the land of the Shui. The Shui are one of the ethnic minority groups in China, most of whom live in Guizhou - where West-Line Studio works exclusively - which is why the office pays special attention to researching minority cultures and traditions in order to bring some of their particular elements into the design.
