mase: good luck finding a good masseuse
mase: me too honestly
mase: do you want me too?
laila: and here i thought you could be my masseuse tonight
laila: yes i do want you to
grcyston:
“come in,” responded a frail, senescent voice that distinctly wasn’t danny’s. “but if you’re looking for daniel grayston, he didn’t pay his fucking rent. i just finished forcing him to move.” then, laughter, this time finally belonging to the young man being sought. “shut up and get out, francis!” danny opened the door, bright and buoyant smile upon his countenance as his friend made a sprightly departure. when he realised who was present at his doorstep, however, his smile fell slightly. “oh. hey,” he said, casual. she’d just gone away, and he tried not to spend much thought or emotion on someone distant. in spite of this, it had affected him more than he cared to acknowledge. and now, here she was again, as if she hadn’t been missing as far as he knew for months. “…you drunk or something?” he lifted an eyebrow.
when it came to fight or flight laila was a runner. hell, she had been running from her feelings and problems the past two years why would she stop now? and yet here she was, back in maui and at daniel's front door trying to find the right words to tell him, explain, to him that she got scared. she ran, pushed him away and thought that it would be better that way. and though a part of her still believed that it was better that way she couldn't stop herself from wanting to see him. she couldn't stop herself from missing him. she watched that bright, radiant smile fade and for a second she wanted to turn back around and pretend she had never come here in the first place. "i'm not drunk." she stated, no longer sure if that was the whole truth or not. "i had a few drinks but i’m not drunk." she sighed as she looked at him, opening her mouth to tell him something but quickly realizing that she didn't know what to say. biting down on her lip she stood there feeling stupid before finally gathering up the courage to speak again. "i missed you and wanted to see you so here i am." she said with a shrug, avoiding his gaze and looking down at her own feet.
sadiies:
sadie hadn’t gotten off of her shift until four o’clock that morning and to make matters worse, she so generously offered to drive her friend to the airport that same morning as well. total hours of sleep ? one. at that point, she was practically running on AUTOPILOT; and frankly, she didn’t care who saw her – tousled hair, bare faced, and all. she knew the only way she was going to make her shift that evening was a double, maybe even triple, dosage of caffeine ( well, that and a nap ). so, there she was, promptly stood at the counter patiently waiting for her name to be called. as soon as the barista withdrew her name from their lips, her head turned, but not in the proper direction. instead, she barely even acknowledged the barista given her attention was now focused on sight mere feet away from her. “do you mind holding on to that for me ?” she politely asked and once she’d received an okay, the blonde was rushing towards the other’s aid. “here let me help you with that !” without warning, sadie got down on one knee and began to retrieve some of the stray papers scattered. “SERIOUSLY dude ?” she glanced up at the patron who unapologetically stomped on a few of the papers, “watch where you’re walking next time.” with a roll of her eyes, she watched as the older man shrugged it off and carried on their way. “people are so inconsiderate.” once she’d collected a good share of the pile, sadie offered them to the brunette. “here you go.”
the female’s brows pulled together in confusion as she watched the stranger not only approch her but help her pick up the papers. a few chuckles and laughs is what she was ecxpecting, not somebody to come over and help. she chuckled as she listened to her, not even bothering to look at whoever had stepped on the papers. “ah i’m kind of sad that he didn’t spill his coffee on the papers as well, that way i’d have some excuse to throw them in the trash.” she joked, a small laugh leaving her lips. she placed her pile of papers back on the table before taking the pile from her hands and offering her a smile. “thank you.” after throwing a few quick glaces across to floor to see if she had missed any papers she finally turned her attention towards the girl in front of her. “let me buy you a cup of coffee or something.” she offered. “’cause if you hadn’t come along i might have just left weverything on the floor and walked away.”
rivxred:
it was layer after layer built up in his head, the ocean, the wind, the voiced of people in the distance, the birds – they all created a melodic line to the composition forming in his head. he only wished he’d brought his notebook. the sound was beautiful, soothing and would create a perfect lullaby. he was so wrapped up in the formation of notes and sheet music forming in his head that he physically jumped upon hearing someone’s voice so close. “fuck, you scared me.” river breathed. “i mean, kind of – not actively working on anything just thinking, using the sounds of the beach to inspire me, i guess would be the best way to put it.”
"shit, sorry.” she said before looking out at the ocean as he continued to speak. it was beautiful, yes, and to laila there was nothing more calming than the sound of waves crashing into each other but how that sound could inspire actual music; that much laila would never understand. then again, she never was very musically gifted. she loved music. the first thing she did when she woke up was turn spotify on and she couldn’t remember the last time she had fallen asleep without music playing in the background and yet she couldn’t carry a tune to save her life. “you’re going to have to play it for me once it’s done.” she turned her attention back towards him.
kaleics:
sitting at a corner booth in her most beloved coffee shop, kaleia’s struggled to get her forehead out of her palm. she was exhausted to say the least. yesterday’s late start in the day had left her son with plenty of energy— energy that just so happened to keep him up five hours past his bedtime. teething didn’t make it any better. for the better part of the night he laid awake crying his eyes out and she sat there with hm doing the same. it was the worst feeling in the world to know he was hurting and their was nothing she could do. today he was feeling loads better. good enough for her to leave him at home with a friend while she attempted to write a chem paper. kaleia’s head snapped up as she heard a familiar voice call out in dismay. “ let me help you. “ she offered, learning over to grab some of the loose papers.
she had been so focused on her work that laila hadn’t noticed anybody else in the coffee shop. after having spent three months in new york for work and coming back to more work than she thought was even possible; it was easy to say the girl was stressed. her head turned in the direction of the voice, a small smile forming on her lips. “you’re an angel, kaleia.” laila said, offering the familiar face a small smile as she continued to pick up the papers. once she had picked up what seemed like all of them she placed them in a messy pile on the table before turning her attention back towards the other girl. "i swear i’m one step away from just throwing the damn papers and my laptop in the trash.” a chuckle left her lips as she pushed the papers to the side. “-- but what are you doing here?”

@grcyston it was unlike laila to show up at somebody’s house unannounced. it was even more unlike laila to show up as somebody’s house drunk. drunk was being a little harsh because even with the few drinks that she had had she had still managed to call herself an uber and walk up to daniel’s house without tripping, stumbling or falling. she wasn’t sure when or how she had decided she needed to see him right this very minute. maybe it was right after the first cup of wine or maybe somewhere between the third and forth. but drunk or not she knew this much; she missed him and wanted to see him. without a second thought, she formed a fist and used it to knock deciding against simply walking in like she had done so many times before.

the quiet male’s bones cracked as he stretched out his limbs, he’d been sat behind the piano all day and then had spent even more time playing around with various string instruments. he had grown rather fond of the cello recently. however, he was forced out of his house and sent to try something new. today, it was the beach. though he was not swimming, nor surfing – actually not even going near the water. river had simply cuffed his jeans and sat in the sand, toes digging into the warm granular substance. he counted the beats of the waves and hummed melodically along with the sounds around him. he was wrapped up entirely in composing a piece with only nature’s sounds, forgetting entirely of his surroundings and the very real possibility of someone stumbling across him.
the corners of her lips pulled up into the tiniest of smiles as she closed her eyes. for just a second she let herself stand there, toes in the sand as she listened to the waves crash into each other and children laugh in the distance. it had been two years now since she had moved to maui and she still couldn’t get enough of the beach. something about the ocean calmed her and she found herself running off to the beach whenever she had had a rough day; much like she had had today. opening her eyes she took in her surroundings. her brows pulled together as the sight of a familiar face. she observed him for just a second, watched the way he hummed to himself before finally deciding to approach. “hey stranger. working on your next masterpiece?”
