✰ it’s my birthday so i decided to write some stuff that i felt like writing ✰

- Working the star ship Discovery meant that you would have to leave earth for a long time so you took a reminder of home with you.
- You didn’t really trust yourself with a living animal so you got the next best thing; a small potted plant that you named Gaia after the Greek goddess of the earth.
- Every morning you would check on Gaia and water them if need be.
- You’re basically a plant parent.
- Through your good and bad days you would arrive back at your room and speak to the small plant.
- You even painted the small pot with mini flowers and clouds on the side of the pot.
- ‘I have no clue if you like listening to me Gaia but I like talking to you. If feel like I can’t speak to anyone on this ship.’ you’d say lying on your small bed sad,
- ‘That guy I work with commented on my appearance again but I can’t really tell anyone that can I.’
- All your worries and rants would be said to the small plant.
- However, not only negative things were said to them, often your roommate would walk in on your in an animated discussion with it.
- The day the crew of the USS Shenzhou arrived a fog of depression floated through the ship.
- Sad faces were all around but one stuck out to you.

- You started to talk to your little plant about the tall gangling alien, talk about how much you liked him.
- ‘Gaia I want to be friends with him but I don’t know how to talk to him outside of work!’

- However the idea came to you when you were working; you would gift a plant to Saru as a token of your friendship,
- Maybe he could even talk to the plant like you did to your.
- Simply you cut of a branch off Gaia and planted it in a new pot, hoping that it would grow and survive.
- By the third week of raising the new plant, who you had named Rhea, you had decided to give Saru the plant.
- You wrote your note on the side of the plant pot and wrapped a small bow around the sides.

I thought you could do the same.

- The next time you meet is when you’re both working.
- ‘By the way (y/n) Rhea is doing very well with my other plants. And yes, I except your friendship.’
- All that could come out of you was, ‘You already have plants?’
- ‘Yes (y/n), maybe I could show them to you at some time.’
