Yes, it's posted, NO it's not yet complete.

My interests did somewhat shift, although I still love the series and keep up with every update, but between losing interest and the ao3 curse hospitalizing me, I decided to post the unfinished fic and see where the reception takes me.

Now, this isn't to say I'll NEVER finish this, maybe some arbitrary day I'll awake with motivation and slam out the ending, but for now..

I got a bendystraw fanfic idea

LISTEN

So basically the rudimentary premise is that Bendy takes a fancy to Cuphead, but every single one of his usual courting tactics just fall on deaf ears as Cuphead is INCREDIBLY UNRECEPTIVE to romantic advances towards him.

So time goes on, Bendy starts getting FRUSTRATED at this fool, and Cuphead interprets this as Bendy being upset/mad at him, so he tries to cheer him up but ultimately friend-zones him lawl.

Now, Cuphead eventually develops feelings for Bendy, but he literally has no idea what the heck is wrong with him and why he isn't able to act in the carefree, rakish way he usually does, until EVENTUALLY a third party (like Mugman or something or MAYBE SHELLEY) tells him that Bendy SO OBVIOUSLY AXIOMATICALLY likes him romantically...

And then he can drop his renowned venerated line: "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT!? MEEEEEEE!?" And it ALL clicks inside him that the feelings are reciprocated as he, too, likes Bendy.

And now Cuphead has to figure out how to confess back, and grapple with why Bendy wants someone like him if I dared make it angsty 🤪

For our favourite devilish demon,

Dancing In Flames:

My mulish tail finds it's way about,

Coiling around the memorabilia of stardom,

Fragmenting the lurid lights of the stage,

Constricting all it holds dear.

My feet would collude to make magic,

Carrying me with singly rotations,

Hewing the staunch limitations of this art,

Until I was the only one left on stage.

So bountiful is my talent,

That nobody is left to recognise the skill!

The glint of a thousand voracious eyes,

Send me down to the pits of hell.

We once sent sparks dancing,

With the fire in our motion,

But now your eyes ignite with rage,

While I am left to burn.

I'm burning into inscrutable molten,

As the searing heat begins to chill,

I'm writing my motm fic, and of course I'm intending to keep it to Bendystraw and MugMutt... but WHY IS PUPCUP GROWING ON MEE!?!?!?

I was just thinking, and I saw a response by nort(i think) talking about Cuphead repeatedly putting himself in harms way for others (something i lowk failed to observe b4) and everything just flipped. I was alrdy a casual pupcup indulger but now... like Boris would NAWT let any self-destructive behaviour slide under his watch, nada, but Bendy? If it benefitted him he'd be able to justify it and enable it, atleast if it were driven by his thanatophobia(hes litch actively enabling this justification/harmful lifestyle in accordance to the whole Dyle situation atm). THIS COMIC DUDE IDK ITS SO GOOD!!

Now take these i make them by the hour

I was watching The Amazing Digital Circus, and I got an idea in my head so I gotta lay it out flat.

From the get go, we've known about the idea of abstracting, but not necessarily what DRIVES people to it, only that they start going insane, fanatical even (regarding the idea of an exit), and being intolerable a few days before.

Now, I wanna talk about Scratch and Kinger, and my THEORY as to how Kinger managed to persevere in place of Scratch. In episode 8, Kinger describes Scratch like so:

Notice the word abstract? In my opinion, that can't be a coincidence. What if this "thinking outside the box" // thinking outside of Caine's purview is exactly what makes people abstract. Gangle even said it herself!

(I'd also like to mention that when Zooble talks about sex, Caine starts bugging out desperately. Could be a red herring pertaining to how other people "bug out" (abstract) when producing ideas that Caine is unattuned to (An idea about an exit, maybe? We saw it with Kaufmo).

We also know that Scratch was the first to abstract, and that his mind was exceedingly more creative (or abstract if you will) compared to other characters. This volatile thinking COULD also be attributed to the tumor in his head, perhaps making him too non-linear compared to other humans under Caine's watch.

So now, this is where the baseless theory comes in. WHAT IF Kinger made HIMSELF go "insane" in order to avoid this wayward thinking, and therefore avoid abstraction? If this is the case, the most plausible explanation for how he would do this is simple. Imagination. Something he is very well-versed in:

I could very easily be missing something detrimental here but I might as-well compile it into something coherent so I can return later.

I was thinking about my fic, and it promptly descended into a rabbit hole regarding Bendy, and his recent developments in motm.

In the comic, we see Bendy (selfishly, some may say) sacrifice Dyle's life to potentially preserve his own. This is a CARDINAL crux of his character, shown again when Boris juxtaposes him by saving Shelley, and is alluded to on many more occasions when his thanatophobic(?) tendencies rear their cumbersome head.

Many have taken a stance to rebuking his character since then, and for a long elapse of time I wasn't sure why I didn't whole-heartedly agree. His actions are impossible to countenance, simply put. But now I think I've found a relatively satisfying answer.

Bendy is a demon, a member of a dying, rare, misrepresented(?) species. He's also terminally ill, if that wasn't enough. Yet irrrspective of these short-comings he still, STILL manages to present as this charming, talented, amicable man who leads a relatively successful life. He's lived a life of learning how to thwart people's stereotypical expectations and focus solely on himself to achieve what he needs, a.k.a working 10x harder to achieve the same goal as everyyone else.

There's nobody in his stead(on account of demons, once again, being exceedingly rare), he's faced a life of (supposed/inferred) omission and marginalisation, and his now-emerging selfish tendencies are only a by-product of this environment. When I followed this line of reasoning, I wondered about how much of his self-preservation could be attributed to this unwelcoming world he had to learn to survive in as a demon. If Bendy had lived in more fortunate circumstances, would things be different? Would he know how to rely on others?

End note: I may very well be talking a bunch of shit, maybe demons are loved idk but if memory serves I feel like they're just incredibly rare, almost as though they're taboo maybe??? In a completely antithetical way, maybe this was just a glaring truism/factoid for everyone and this is all just a stupid, didactful glib🥲 I just needed to blurt my thoughts out before I lost them to my feeble memory SORRY OKAY SORRY

I promise I am employed, but Bendystraw, MugMut and doomed InkPetals don't wait for slackers.
