It should only take a few more minutes. The scans donât take too long, if weâre looking for the right things. And youâre right. I canât force you, but if you donât talk to someone, we might not let you out. And you want to get out, right?
Alright.. I really wanna know what happened.. And.. I do want to get out of here, but I don't think I need to go to therapy if I just fix the problem that I don't have myself.

Why you might have gone unconscious? Oh no, thatâs completely physical. And it wonât hurt you to talk to someone, I promise.

[To a nurse] Can you run this? Thanks. [Back to Lucas] Talking to a therapist isnât unfair. Itâs just talking for one hour. Donât worry about it. Iâm running tests to see why you might have gone unconscious, whether you did it on purpose or not.

Iâm almost finished, okay? After the tests, Iâll let you out on the condition that youâll talk to a therapist for at least one session. Iâll need you to have the therapist confirm with me. This just⌠well, you donât see many people sinking themselves to the bottom of a pool. What do you remember, Lucas?

Lucas, I going to need to take some blood, okay? Just a little bit. Not everyone knows why they want to hurt themselves. Everyone wants to get out of here. Youâre going to be okay soon. Thereâs tons of doctors and nurses and therapists if you need to talk to anyone.

Katie ran a quick hand through her damp hair, trying to comb out the knots with her fingers. âYouâre welcome..â She said quietly before hugging her knees to her chest, resting her chin atop her knees. âThey didnât tell me much, but I assume they knew what happened, you should ask them.â She said with a nod, looking from him to the nurses that lurked around his area. âYou donât need to thank me, you know.â
Lucas watched her and he bit his lip. "D-Do you think you could find out for my Katie..? I'm scared to ask them what they think happened.. I am scared to hear what their answer will be." He had tears forming in his eyes and he wiped them away right away. He nodded and looked at her, "I do though, Katie. I could be dead right now, but no. You saved me.. I really appreciate it."

It felt like it took forever for Lucas to wake up, and all she could do was just sit and wait. Even though the doctors reassured her that he was going to be alright and that she could always come back later when he was awake, Katie shook her head and insisted she be there when he woke up again. Her eyes drifted from him to the surrounding area, trying to find something to keep her entertained until he finally came around. Her attention shifted back to him as his eyes opened, the movement causing her to shift forward in her chair so she was leaning towards him slightly. âI donât know the full story, but you were in the pool..like, at the bottom of the pool and you werenât moving. I pulled you out and tried CPR,â She chuckled softly and shook her head, âI suck at CPR by the way. But the doctors came and here you are.â A smile spread on her lips as she let out a sigh of relief.
Lucas tried to remember what happened, but for the life of him he couldn't. All he could remember was that planned to go swimming in the pool. He looked at Katie as she spoke and he chewed on his lip some more, "Thanks for trying though.. Do they know what happened?" He asked as he looked at her. He saw the smile on her face, but he couldn't get himself to form any sort of smile on his face. He looked around and saw the tray with food on it and looked away, back at Katie. "Thanks again.."

Even though she really had no connection to Lucas, her heart sank as he still lay unconscious. In the time before the doctors finally showed up, tears sprung to her eyes as she checked his wrist for a pulse. Luckily, there was one  so they were tears of joy versus tears of sadness. Katie instantly rose to her feet as the pulled Lucas up into the gurney, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. âY-Yeah.â She nodded quickly before quickly walking over to where her towel was, wrapping it around herself before following them to the infirmary. She couldnât be with him the entire time, but after they decided everything was all set and people could go see him, she trailed wet footprints over to his area and sat down in a chair by his bed.
After they had gotten Lucas to the infirmary, they got him to where he needed to be health wise and one of the doctors came in and told Katie that everything was going to be okay, and that Lucas was going to be okay.Â
After about half an hour to forty-five minutes, Lucas' eyes fluttered open. He looked around and chewed on his lip. Where was he? He then saw Katie, who had only talked to a couple times before. His throat was dry as he spoke softly to the girl who was sitting in the chair, sitting and looking at him. "I uh... W-what happened...?"

With a loud sigh, Katie swung her legs over the side of her bed while she considered what she was going to do that day. Her plan had been to do nothing but sit and wait and rot in Eastwick until the judge had decided she was ready to go back into society. But that seemed all too boring and Katie wasnât a boring girl, at least she wasnât out of the asylum, so she decided to make do with what she had. Upon arrival, some of the staff explained the different rooms the new building had to offer and she remembered hearing about a pool. Thatâs what she was going to do. It âd been a while since she last swam, but it sounded better than doing nothing. After changing into a bikini and pulling a large t-shirt over it, Katie headed out of her room and to where she remembered the pool to be. Upon arrival, her eyes immediately fell to something in the pool that wasnât moving. After a second of staring, Katie recognized it was a person and instantly jumped into the water, swimming over to where Lucas was and tried her best to get him out of the water. âCâmon..â She had to climb out of the pool to pull him out and get him on his back. âHelp! Somebody help!â He voice echoed throughout the room as she racked her brain for anything she learned about CPR. First, in a pathetic attempt, she slapped his face slightly. âLucas..Lucas câmon..â She pressed her ear to his chest, praying that she would hear a heartbeat. She pulled her head away from his chest and licked her dry lips, moving the heel of her hand to the center of his chest before pressing down.Â
The longer Lucas' body has laid down at the bottom of the pool, the faster he felt like he was drifting from the Earth. He didn't want to die. He didn't do it on purpose. He just found himself so busy. He could hear and feel Katie, pressing on his chest. The longer she was pressing on his chest, the more alive he felt. He wouldn't become conscious though. His motionless body was laying on the bed as some doctors ran into the pool area with a gurney and hauled Lucas up onto it, "Are you coming with us?" one of the doctors asked as the others started to take Lucas to the infirmary.

It was that time of the day where Lucas was planning on going to the pool. He always spent at least four hours in the pool in the morning and four hours in the evening. Grabbing his towel and putting his speedo on, Lucas caught himself in a deep thought, thinking about how long he was going to be trapped inside a mental institution. He needed to get out as soon as he could, but knew that not everyone can get what they want all the time, even though deep down, he didnât think he did anything to deserve to be where he was.
Walking out the door, the sixteen year old boy walked down the halls that became so familiar to him now. He walked up and down these halls so many times in the little time he had been at eastwick that he knew them like the back of his hands, even though they hadnât been at the new facility for too long. Opening the door, he smelled the sweet smell of chlorine that he always adored.
When was the last time you ate Lucas? he asked himself as he set his towel down over the chair. It had actually been three days since he ate a real meal, due to the fact that he was so busy with training. He needed to keep his mind occupied, seeing as the Olympics were going on at this time of the year and he honestly didnât want to think about them. Â He felt a bit weak, but knew that it would be well worth it at the end of the road. After he left eastwick, he would be in the Olympics and win as many gold medals that he could.
It was only a dream though. One that he was going to have to make true. He was willing to do whatever it took to get out, unlike most people in the asylum. He had heard a lot of people talking about how they wanted to get out, but really didnât want to put in the effort. He thought that was a load of crap, but he then thought about how not everyone had the same motivation as he did. He was a shoo in for the Olympics and not everyone was going to be offered that.
Walking up to the diving board, the males heart began to beat faster and faster as each second went on. He walked up onto the diving board and stared down at the water like he would any other time when he got to the diving board. He stood up straight and but his hands on his abdomen, taking deep and powerful breaths in and out. Bending his knees, ready to jump into the pool and turn into the happiest person in the world, he let out a soft smile.
Getting a jump off the diving board, Lucas leaned forward to go in for a dive and his body hit the water, Feeling refreshed, Lucas didnât know what was going to happen next. His body felt so weak already and the water made it feel even more tired than it already was. He felt his eyes roll to the back of his head and he laid unconscious at the bottom of the pool, waiting for all of the air to leave his lungs.
