Striding into the common room after a day’s worth of lessons, Bellatrix wants nothing more than to listen to a few of the first years in her house screech. The seventh year lets her school bag drop to the floor without concern that it would block the path of other students. She palms her wand and sweeps her arm out, casting an intense stinging hex for the boy leaning over a table looking over a friend’s essay. The satisfying yelp she receives when the hex meets its mark soothes the girl, but it isn’t enough.
She needs something else to let the prickling energy trapped beneath her skin find relief. If it doesn’t get her into a cauldron of trouble, that would be preferred. Too many detentions have drawn her mother and father’s attentions. Enough to make the eldest girl ban her own owl from coming near her during breakfast. The blasted letters will only mean worse when she arrives home next.
“Lucinda.” Having spotted the redhead’s volume of hair on one of the armchairs, Bellatrix strides over and slides onto the arm of the chair without invitation, reaching out and tugging at a swath of the fellow Slytherin’s hair. “I need a distraction or I will begin to murder classmates. Do something with me, beautiful.”
Lucinda was reading after a long day of lessons- something that helped soothe her boredom but also helped her relax. The redhead’s index finger trailed along words as she ignored the rest of the common room. She was very good at zoning out all the background noise and finding her own happy place.
She felt someone slide up next to her and was suddenly jolted back to life and away from the fictional world she had been sucked in to. The slytherin looked next to her, seeing Bellatrix. She knew Alecto would probably kill her if she even looked her way- but Bellatrix might kill her for ignoring her.
“Me? Are you sure you don’t want Alecto or someone else?” she looked around nervously, tucking some hair behind her ear. She was between a rock and a hard place and wasn’t sure how to respond.
