Reasons to get skinny (self reminder)
To make them jealous
To have confidence
Look good in any outfit
So people talk about how thin I got behind my back
To be in less pain and more in control
To finally feel accepted

there’s always this one time of year where everything goes bad and I’m constantly sad and I think it’s becoming that time of year again and I’m not excited in the least

High functioning Depression
isn’t easily diagnosed. In fact, it isn’t a true medical diagnosis, yet.
Another word for high functioning depression would be “dysthymia”, also known as persistent depressive disorder.
Meaning, we are the people, who are generally unhappy in life and we don’t fit the definition of depression.
High functioning depression persists for two or more years.
Sometimes it’s referred as the “sneaky” depression, because it sneaks its way into our life without us noticing it.
Imagine turning the temperature in a room up by one degree at a time. Most people don’t notice.
That’s how high functioning depression works. Most of us don’t notice it until we are sick of feeling down all the time or up until a major stressful event takes place.
Because we still fill our main roles in life, by working, by being in a relationship, by being a parent or by being a friend.
It’s easy for us to fly under the radar, because we can hide our suffering very well. That’s why we get very lonely and alone without support.
There won’t be any changes in our every day activities. We still go to work, we attend this and that meeting.
But outside of work, we might cancel on our friends, because “work was really exhausting that day”.
Yes, sometimes we crawl out of our dark holes and meet people in the outside world, because social contacts are important and we need to function. Plus we don’t want people around us think that something might be wrong with us.
But just because we can function, doesn’t mean we don’t need help.
And depression treatment is very individual, there are lifestyle changes, seeing a therapist, or being on medication.
It’s not important how you get treated, it’s important that you are starting your treatment!
