You know, Iāve been seeing some videos recently of people like, going off on potential future robots/androids or something.
And it just makes me uncomfortable. It kinda feels like theyāre desperate to be mean and violent to somebody, but believe that in their own morals or societyās morals, they canāt do it to an existing minority group.
Cause itās always like a Clear and Obvious analog for some of the most Overt and Violent racism or homophobia or something. Full on same phrases Iāve heard before but with āclankersā or ātin skinā or some other robot-specific made up slur.
Iām quite concerned by how much of a trend this seems to be.
you know it's time to log off what you start accusing people of using slurs against robots
they are inanimate objects you absolute lunatic
"hating computers is like hating black people and hating black people is racist, therefore if you hate computers you're a racist" am i going insane
I can understand where youāre coming from.
After all, the trend is inherently fiction. No one is hurt by this, the victims donāt exist.
Iām just concerned that the fiction these people are choosing to create is one filled with such intense vitriol and hate. Iām concerned to see people enjoying such echoes of real-world violence.
That said, theyāre welcome to create their fictions. I donāt have any desire to stop or censor them.
On my own tumblr blog though, Iām allowed to express my discomfort and criticize the choices others have chosen to make. Like your decision to be unkind in your word choice.
you're right, enjoying fictitious violence is unforgivable. let's ban paintball for the guns and fireworks for the explosions. let's ban Star Wars for depicting war, and Bambi for "echoing real-world violence" when her mom was shot by a hunter. let's go ahead and ban chess. those knights are problematic.
Oh, you poor thing, with your strawman bullshit and your unfounded anger...
There's this thing in the world called nuance, and I'm aware you have none, but other people do. And in this situation, the nuance is applied to, say, understand that Bambi's mom getting shot by hunters was an Acknowledged Bad Thing in the fiction, whereas some (not all) fiction in the trend OP is talking about do not acknowledge making up slurs for robots as bad. And it is bad, because the trend specifically transfers the "treat minorities as subhuman" to an actual nonhuman (the robots) to make it "okay" to be an asshole, which is a potential slippery slope to being an asshole in situations where it isn't okay.
All that aside, you completely missed the part where OP said "I'm still not gonna stop people from creating and enjoying that fiction, tho." They don't want the fictional robot media banned. Or Bambi, or chess, or Star Wars like your silly little strawman tried to push to make OP seem stupid. They are just expressing an opinion, a personal concern, on their personal blog, which you decided for some reason isn't allowed to exist.
I'm sorry about whoever pissed in your cereal this morning, but if you keep acting like an asshole with no sense, the person pissing in your cereal tomorrow will be ME.
