Positive Comments
Design work great and is all part of a cohesive body of work.
Bottle and pen gifs work well to explain my ideas, would look good on the website.
What to Improve
To develop website to become more interactive and more in depth
Create some samples of the products
Maybe the site could play a bigger part in the design
5105 Evaluation
The original piece that was the starting point of the project was the materials that BCU use to advertise and promote the University. Looking at the work I realised that they don’t give a true portrayal of student life and what being a student its truly about. Therefore I decided to play on this by creating a parody of these materials, to challenge the way University is advertised to the potential student and also the image of stereotypical student that this group of people are fed through the media e.g. social media, TV, Film, etc.
This project has been a big challenge for me. I've had a lot of stressful moments and a very slow start. However, I think I came through in the end. I started with a very lost and uninspired outlook on the project and I changed my project idea several times, which slowed me down considerably and for several weeks I hardly made any progress. After getting through this rough patch I started to realise that I was over thinking everything and I just needed to get on with designing and making and then worry about the content at a later point in the project. Once I started that I became more and more enthusiastic which enabled me to produce a competent project that had meaning behind it and met my brief.
My design and technical skills are definitely the strong point in this project and I've learnt some new skills such as creating a gif and constructing a website and I'm going to take a code writing course over the summer so that I can start building more advanced websites. However, the theory behind the work needs more development and more depth. This was suggested to me at a later point in the project but I felt that for it to work and be at a good enough standard, I would need more time to develop it properly.
If I had more time in the project I would like to create more merchandise designs and start to produce physically products. As well as that I would make the website fully functioning and maybe create a mobile sight. If I were to take any of this project forward into another project later in my degree, I would consider expanding on creating a survival kit using clothing as I feel it has a lot more to offer and a lot more to develop.
Overall I feel that I could've done a lot more with this project if I hadn't lost my confidence half way through. Although, I think that I've done the best that I could possibly do and shown that I have great technical skills that I can utilise in the future.

Hoodie Designs and The Uni Team Name
The CBA Sloths are the university’s Darts Team and their mascot is a yauning sloth.
The first design is a simple hoodie but with a twist. on the back instead of having the team member’s names making up the ‘CBA’ it has a truthful story about a students experience. It’s hidden in plain sight as not many people actually read the backs of these hoodies.
The second design is a student survival kit with all of the things you need to be the best stereotypical student.

Website Design
I’ve kept to the basic colour scheme and just played on the the design of the posters to create the home page of the CBA’s website. Whilst creating this I had the idea of making it interactive, which means whenever you roll over the different sections of the website they would flip to the inverted image with the cynical and sarcastic approach to the student stereotypes. My next step is to start building the website on Dreamweaver.
Image Slider for Website
These banners are condensed versions of the posters, which I have integrated into a gif format (on Photoshop) with other photos of the CBA to create a rolling slide show of images.
Existing University website Research
Analysing the look and layout to help me to create a website that looks as realistic as possible.
Points to Consider
- lots of information
- logo = in top left corner
- Nearly always a top banner with drop down menus
- Nearly always a photo slider with images to do with the uni
Seminar Feedback
In one of my recent seminars it was suggested that my work should become more digitally advanced because students would be more influenced by digital advertising as well as physical advertising. Therefore I have decided to create a website for the university.
As I have never made a website before, I talked to the technician who could help me. I’ve learnt some of the basics, but I need to design the website first before I can make any progress.
