3. reflect on march
day three of my april studyblr challenge
march 2021 was a bit all over the place, but not as much as last yearās march, thatās for sure. it was split between rounding up online lessons and settling back into school.
at first, going back into school was pretty overwhelming, due to the change of routine, change of learning style and change of environment. so, as we would only be there for three weeks before the end of term, i decided to try a reduced timetable (as per the suggestion of the sixth form director), Ā just to ease myself back into things. this meant that iād only attend french and art lessons, and that iād catch-up on biology over easter. this definitely took a load off, and all of my teachers have been super supportive of it too.
my main goal last month was to avoid burnout, which i accomplished. i kept in tune with how my body was responding to the workload and took a break before burnout set in.
warning signs of burnout are different for everyone, but for me, personally, my eyes start to feel heavy, my mind feels like itās slowly turning into cotton wool and i become zombie-like, rather than being restless. iām quite a sensory particular person, meaning that iām often stimming (mainly tactile and auditory, when studying), to avoid being under-stimulated and not able to focus on the work at hand.
burnout tends to manifest physically when you hold a lot of stress in you body whilst studying (which is definitely something that i need to work on), through tensed muscles, bad posture, clenched jaws, holding your breath etc.
during march, i also worked really hard on my digital portfolio for a-level art. iām exploring my chosen theme of eclectic modern witchcraft, for 60% of my final grade. i donāt think iām allowed to post any of it online until after it has been examined, but i shall share some snippets with you all when the time comes! i suppose, in the meantime, i could always find some of my personal sketches, however, theyāre pretty loose and not at all sustained.
outside of college, iāve found myself practising bass a lot more and playing mainly forza horizon 4, amongst other video games, with my friends each evening. iām slowly finding a balance between academia and free-time (something i neglected a bit at gcse), whether it be spending time with my friends, working on various hobbies or simply taking some time to myself to watch a film.
iām hoping this new month goes much smoother than the last, so i can focus on some of my long-term goals, rather than how to make it through the unknown of each week.
side note: itās been so lovely to see you guys having fun with this challenge, it warms my heart sm omg !! keep taggin ur posts under #wilstudiesapril, i canāt wait to see what else you all come up with :)
