Taking a deep breath Athena nodded. âGood, cause thats not how Iâd ever wish for you to see me.â She said, deadly serious considering that it actually meant a bit to her, being seen as capable and strong on her own. If not there was a lack of respect there that she was relieved they would not have to discuss or deal with. It wasnât so much the reaction that had upset her, as much as the violence. Violence thrumped everything, and Athena did not handle being the cause of it. Which, to be fair, wasnât entirely on Jasper, and stemmed from years and years of being Nicoâs little sister more than anything else. Anyone who had dared to cause her harm or hurt, either it be physically or emotionally, had gotten to experience her brothers lack of morals and limits. He didnât have them, and while she knew it was all out of love, out of genuine affection and care, if given a choice in the matter she would have chosen differently. She wouldnât wish anyone harm or strike out at someone for hurting her. For hurting her family or her loved ones? Yes. And that was why she did understand where her brother came from. Why she accepted that he did go to extremes to protect her. She just hadnât expected that her fiancee would be in the very same boat. And jealousy.. that was much much worse to figure out than protectiveness. Athena could not help but shake her head a little. âBut I am yours, and I donât want anyone else but you Jas. That in there-â she jerked her head once in the direction of the bar. â-was just me being polite and friendly. That guy means nothing to me. But you do. Youâre the only one I want, and thats not going to change.â She said, glad to be done yelling and bickering. She would much rather just talk honestly. As much as she dared to. âJust.. please try not to harm anyone because of me. Nico has taken lives to protect me, taken lives to avenge whats been done to me, and I canât be the reason for more lives being taken. For people getting hurt and dying I just.. please try not to. I donât fully understand it, that primal aspect to own me, but I do get wanting to have all of my attention. But you do, I promise. All the time when weâre together, and even when we arenât. Youâre always on my mind.â She leaned up to fit her lips to his, a passionate kiss, almost as if wanting to both remind him and underline her own words. Drawing back eventually, Athena went for another nod. âOkay.â Cutting the night short seemed like the wisest idea, considering. Beginning to walk, though keeping one of his hands, they had been moving for a while before she found the courage to ask the question she had wanted to ask all along. âDo you trust me?âÂ
xx â Jasper still felt unsettle, parts of him struggling to put the pieces together of the emotions that he was feeling. It was a raging storm, Jasper facing it with uncertainty of how well heâd fare in the end. But he would have to learn. If he wanted to make Athena happy and wanted their relationship to thrive, he would learn to handle his emotions and instincts. Such as not hurting random people. That he could certainly do, but he couldnât make any promises about not harming anyone at all because of Athena. If it were the case of someone trying to hurt or kill her, that would be a different story. Jasper melted into the kiss, shoulders dropping and tension slowly leaving his body. It was strange to think that heâd finally met someone who could easily make him melt. âI will try to not hurt anyone unnecessarily like I did tonight. I canât promise you that I wonât ever hurt someone in your defense. If someone were to hurt you or worse,â Jasper reached up to caress Athenaâs cheek with the back of his fingers. âBut I will try to be better.â He liked it better when they werenât yelling at each other, when he hadnât accidentally angered her by one of his mistakes. Jasper happily held one of Athenaâs hands, smiling at the sight before looking ahead of them. Everything wasnât entirely mended, he was sure of that, but at least they had made some progress. Athenaâs question made Jasper look down at her, eyebrows raised. It wasnât a question heâd expected. âOf course I trust you, Athena. I would not be as open with you if I did not and I trust you in regards to other people. Youâre one of only four people in this world that I trust.â Jasperâs face twisted in puzzlement, not sure how to express it better than that. He looked back up to the street, the hotel at the end of the block. After a moment of silence he added, âI do fear that one day you may leave me. That may be where the jealousy stems from,â
