Manolo laughed and started to eat some of his pizza.  “I have no doubt you would.  It’s like that Shakespeare quote ‘Though she be little, she is fierce.’  Sorry I’m an english professor so things like that come to me a lot.”

“Yeah!  I moved here about four years ago.  I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do here but it’s an absolutely amazing city.  How long have you been here?”

Usually, Lilac finds people who went to college and brag about it to be insufferable. Truly, completely insufferable. Few things bother her like being asked where she went to school or the way people’s eyes glaze over when she admits she dropped out. But somehow, she doesn’t believe that he means it in a snobbish way. He’s passionate about what he teaches, she guesses. And it’s not actually that annoying. She gives him a sly look and cocks her head. “You think I’m fierce? Good.”

“Not as long, only a few weeks. I’m sure you can guess what ‘inspired’ the move.”

Felicity wasn’t planning on much that day, it was a boring afternoon and she was trying to think of something to do.  Her mind was wandering about maybe trying to buy something for Isolde when a knock came at her door.  She was quick to open it and grinned widely when she saw it was none other than Isolde on the other side.  

Felicity quickly leaned in and gave Isolde a kiss.  She was never going to get used to this feeling of jitters and happiness every time she saw Isolde.  And Felicity was very much okay with that.

She was enjoying all of their time being spent together so far, so Felicity was excited at the prospect of a day trip with her.  “Sure I would love to!  I was honestly just thinking of an excuse to try to see you.”  She said sheepishly.

Her future wife greets her with a kiss first of all, sweet and eager like Felicity herself. As they break apart, Isolde boops Felicity’s nose fondly and gives her a smile. “You’ve missed me?”

She’s relieved to hear that Fee is up for a short excursion and flattered that Felicity wanted to spend time together even before Isolde arrived. “You don’t need an excuse to see me.” Isolde protests gently. “But I don’t want to blindside you so I have to admit: the trip is to see my studio ... at my family home. Is that okay?” She holds her breath, waiting for the answer.

“I think it’s a reason most people have seen those movies,” Elizabeth said with a smile, shaking her head. “I have seen all of them in theatres.”

“Dinosaurs eating people. I guess that is pretty hard to beat.” He feels impressed for a second, then remembers the original film premiered sometime in the 90s and shakes his head too. “I can imagine you now, all decked in scrunchies and parachute pants.”

“What sort of questions?” Darcy asks, all the more curious now. “In a mall, of course. Same as you.”

Maria blushed again as he continued to compliment her, looking at him shyly and nodding. “That would be nice, thank you.  But there isn’t any need to thank me, I’m just happy help.  Nice to meet you Jamie, I’m Maria.”  The wolf smiled at him again, glad to get out of her room and actually talk to someone new for once.

“No, I insist. You have no idea how badly I wanted to leave that conversation. I was dying.” He smiled back at her and started in the direction of the nearest café. “It’s great to meet you, Maria.”

Martha: I've finally got one of these things how cool.

Martha: It is taking me ages to type though I feel like an elderly person.

Martha: What is Snapchat and would you recommend it to a friend?

Elaine: Oh, trust me. That's how I started out too.

Elaine: Actually, I still type like an elderly person.

Elaine: It's fun! The photos disappear and I still don't understand why (I'm guessing it's a sex thing). But the puppy filter is a lot of fun.

“True, plus it’s easier to bring with if we have to move.”  Elliot offered.  He knew it was hard to carry around a big piano from house to house, especially since he was trying to keep a low profile when he and Joaquin did move.  

When he pinched Joaquin’s cheeks, Joaquin giggled and reached up to pinch his cheeks as well.

“It is a bit more sophisticated and you can be subtle about showing off your skills.”  Elliot laughed.  He didn’t know how to admit that he wished Joaquin could show off at parties.  It gave the illusion that he would have a normal life and be invited to parties and Elliot wanted nothing more for his son.  “Plus I heard that if you know piano it’s easy to learn other instruments.  Is that true?”

"That is an added benefit, I suppose." Nodded Sebastian, as if he didn't have a separate piano at every house he owned. For his part, the boy didn't seem to be listening too intently to the conversation but laughed at Sebastian's antics and responded in kind, pinching him back. "Exactly. He won't have to carry around an instrument everywhere he goes. There's less chance of looking like a braggart that way." He shook his head. "I can't say that I would know that. The pianoforte wasn't the first instrument I learned to play. But I'd wager that it's true."

“Look, I’m just glad I’m getting to see a movie my four year-old didn’t pick out” said Wren. “Besides, how can you not like Marvel movies?” The only person he’d ever met who didn’t was his ex-fiancee’s cousin, who was a pretentious film snob.

"I'm with you on that one." Morgan nods in agreement. As much as he loves his daughter, one can only watch Moana so many times before losing their sanity so this is a welcome change. "I haven't seen many. Clearly, I need to get out more. How are there so many of these already? I don't know how I'm supposed to keep track of the characters at this point."

“I mean I certainly wouldn’t blame you if you tried.  I was a major asshole to you and I really am sorry for that.”  Manolo tried apologizing again, hoping that she would see how sincere he really was.

Manolo wasn’t even sure why he was trying so hard with this woman.  Maybe it was the fact that he didn’t know who his pair was.  He felt like if he couldn’t even make it work with this stranger, how was he going to make it work with someone he was forced to be together?

He was relieved when she offered pizza and he gladly took a slice.  “Oh no Bizzaro, luckily I don’t see him ever making an appearance again.”  Manolo laughed, gladly to play along the joke again.

"Stop apologizing." She grumbles between mouthfuls of pizza, but there's less of an edge to her words. "Just don't do it again, or I'll have to kick your nerdy little ass, Clark Kent." She says this with exaggerated bravado ... as if she isn't a mere 5'3" in stature. "So you live here too ..." Lilac changes the subject, trying to get to the subject that really interests her without revealing the truth of their connection.

Did he have anyone special? It was a hard question for Luke to answer. He had met his new fiance a couple of times and it would be the first time that he would actually get to marry a man so he considered that a win. “Uh– I guess so? Kind of. It’s complicated.”

"I understand," Elaine told him, quite earnestly. Her own romantic history was messy and her engagement to Freyja was rather unconventional. Not to mention that their nasty personality changes under the mysterious spell still made Elaine recoil at her own capability for cruelty. She'd barely been able to face her future wife since. "I didn't mean to pry."

Isolde wonders sometimes if she’s doing enough for Felicity to make up for the unusual circumstances surrounding their courtship. Her attempts at homemade gifts have been less than stellar (bordering on disastrous, if she’s being honest) and no soufflé in the world properly expresses, “I’m sorry The Council (including my father) have forced you into marrying me but I’m also not that sorry because I’m selfish and I really, really like you.” It’s not that she thinks Felicity doesn’t like her back. She’s certain of that by now. But she still feels as if she should be expending twice as much effort into impressing her future wife than what’s expected of her. And maybe her art isn’t the most impressive, but it’s important to Isolde. It can’t get much more personal than bringing Felicity to her studio at her family’s home. She only hopes it’s not too much, too quickly.

“I want to show you something.” Isolde blurts out as soon as Felicity opens the door. “Are you free to take a day-trip with me?”

“Normally not feeling yourself is being short with someone not trying to get them into bed.”  He sighed, not wanting to make Jamie feel more uncomfortable.  Even if he wasn’t the happiest with him, Nate still felt guilty for the guy.  “Listen, are you alright though?  Are you more yourself now?”

Jamie frowned, frustrated by his lack of a proper, reasonable explanation for their last encounter. The truth was that he still wasn't sure what had actually happened to trigger completely different behavior and feelings on his part. He didn't have an answer for Nate. He probably never would. “I don’t know what happened, I swear. But it won’t happen again.”

Rowel stared at the store of sparkly things, with the intimidating clerk who asked questions he did not understand. He should just leave the area of shops but he also still didn’t have thing he wanted. So he sat on the low bench outside the store and tried to muster his courage. “Why do they make it so hard?” he grumbled, half to himself.

“Make what so hard?” Darcy asked before she could stop herself from addressing the strange man currently talking to himself. It was too late to stop now so she added, “Are you lost?”

Elliot relaxed as soon as he saw that Joaquin was in good hands.  His son was grinning up at the man, following his every instruction.  It was clear that Joaquin was having a fun time and Elliot didn’t want to interfere with his learning.  Elliot was beyond surprised when he suggested lessons.  “You really think so?  I would just feel guilty because usually we don’t have a piano or anything with us.  Maybe I’ll have to get him a keyboard as well!”

It was a shame that most respectable homes no longer owned a piano, Sebastian thought. How uncivilized. Rather than say that to the man’s face, he nodded. “That’s better than no piano at all.” He pinched the child’s cheek fondly and added, “Part of the piano’s is that one doesn’t have to carry it around all day. One can play when the occassion arises, as this little one has figured out. If nothing else, it’ll make him popular at parties when he’s grown.”
