Lunali peeked at the mystery lombax upon hearing her voice as the explosions stalled.

“RIGHT!” She nodded curtly, watching the lombax search for a more viable and safer location to stow away—she looked around the debris through one opened eye. “Another round is coming up…” she mumbled under her breath.

Her attention was brought back to the female lombax crouching next to her, eyes tracing her arm before looking towards the location she was pointing at.

“GOT IT.” She replied, lowering her hands in order to book it straight for the entrance of the cave.

“WOAH!” She skidded to a halt as a chunk of the overhead structure fell right in front of her. “Oh come on!” She cursed, slamming her heel against the floor angrily.

Clearly not her lucky day.

Carefully, Lunali rounded the obstruction and continued to b-line for the cave. Once safely inside, she pressed her back against the cave’s wall. The cold rock a wonderful relaxant to her warm back. Letting out a sigh of relief, she slumped down and closed her eyes, out of breath.

The explosions began to ring once more, almost muted by the cave’s thick walls.

Making it into the cave was just about as harrowing for Rivet as it had been for her fellow Lombax. She dodged flying dirt and debris on her way and had to dive into the cave to avoid being smacked by a rogue piece of metal. She let herself lie on the ground for a long moment before sitting upright.

“That was too close,” she murmured.

“Yes, it was,” Kit agreed from her back. “But that seems to be normal for us.”

Rivet groaned as a dull ache settled into her body. She was going to need a nice, relaxing day after this… She let her ears recover from the ruckus a moment more, then turned to her newfound companion.

“Name’s Rivet,” she offered the other. “Nice to see another Lombax! The bot on my back’s Kit. She’s my teammate. How about you? What’s your name? And what the heck were you doing out there in the middle of that bombing field?”

She could ask me the same question, she thought.

Lunali jumped at the tinny voice that replied to the other. She leaned forward, trying to look around the mystery lombax’s body. Lavender eyes fell on – in her opinion – the absolute cutest little robot!

‘Oh my—! She’s so cute!’

The lombax shook her head, bringing herself back into the moment—scooting closer to them, she sat with her legs curled under her. She smiled in response to her introduction, pressing a hand over the glowing green heart against her chest. “Nice to meet’cha Rivet!” She grinned, leaning to the side in order to look at Kit. “And Kit.”

She sat back up straight.

“Lunali! But my folks call me Tinker.” A big grin pulled up her cheeks. “Luna's short and sweet though—so whatever you decide I’ll roll with it.” The lombax chuckled.

“I haven’t seen another Lombax in a while...” she muttered under her breath. “What a wonderful surprise.”

“Oh! Uhhhhhhh well...” Her ears lowered behind her, shoulders pulling up as she smiles sheepishly, fingertips patting against each other. “You see...” Lunali looked away from them, scratching the back of her head. “So uh...I like to...tinker with things.”

“Whether it’s weapons or...robots.” She waved her hands in front of her defensively. “O-only enemy robots though!"

She pressed her fingertips against each other, looking down at the floor, her lips pursed for a moment.

“I had NO idea that robot had a self-destruction fail safe!” She hissed, throwing her hands up in the air in outrage. “And once THAT one exploded, so did a whole CROWD of them!” Lunali leaned back, palms against the floor, her tail sliding back and forth in agitation. “I didn’t...plan that. And in order to lower my chances of blowing up, I just...ran.”

The lombax flopped back onto the cold, hard ground.

“And you?” she asked, rubbing her shut eyes.

“Awwwww! Nef-Nef I had no idea you thought of me so highly!” She sniffed, gesturing the motion of wiping away a tear from her face. “You never said it with your words but the statistics don’t lie.” The lombax gestured at the image.

“And I thought you hated squishies. I guess you were just playing hard to get.” She closes her eyes, cocking a hip to the side. “No worries, I won’t tell anyone.”

Lunali grins, pulling out a smartphone from one of the pockets on the side of her dress. She lowers herself before jumping high up, pulling Nefarious into a headlock and pulling him down to her height.

She raises the phone and with a wide grin she sings, “Say Cheeeeeeese~!”

Then snaps a picture.

EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS OPEN TO HELP PAY VET BILL.

     For those who don’t know, one of my cats suffered from a very sudden blockage in which I was instructed to immediately go to the emergency vet for to take care of, since this is a condition that can kill a cat in a painful way in just 24 to 48 hours.  So despite not having the funds, I wasted no time to save him.  Now I’m negative and needing to pay off this bill with the emergency fees as this happened after hours on Memorial Day weekend  ( I can show the receipt for proof if anyone is concerned ).  Point being, I have now opened up GRAPHICS and ART COMMISSIONS to possibly help pay for some of this!  Any tiny bit will help, and if you do manage to have a cent to spare… I’ll try my best to give you something worthwhile!  And in a way, you all can help my cat Odd onto his recovery process.

GRAPHICS COMMISSION INFO: you can find all this info over on this page (as well as examples), but i am only open for THEMES, BANNERS, MOBILE BANNERS, PSDS, ETC. … not icons. i do not have the time to work on batches of icons right now unless you’re willing to wait a long period of time!

     Odd is a very loving, gentle, and sweet kitty with a little bit of anxiety but a huge love for all of his brothers!  He’s one of my bestest friends, and I adopted him around 5 years ago when he was just a kitten.  He’s still full of life and still very young!

Surely this ruckus would end soon, Rivet thought. Her gaze followed the other’s hand as it pointed to a better place to stand and she nodded in understanding. She followed behind the other, hopping over the debris into cover.

This is better, Rivet thought, but we still need to get further away. No sense in getting blown into chunks.

It seemed the explosions had stopped. For the moment. Rivet’s ears rang even more. She crammed her fingers into her earholes, hoping that by doing so, she could make the ringing stop.

“WE SHOULD KEEP GOING,” she said aloud. “JUST IN CASE ANYTHING ELSE BLOWS UP!”

Rivet scanned the area, looking for a clear path. There, slightly to her right. She raised her hand and pointed.

“THAT WAY! THAT LOOKS GOOD! C’MON!”

If nothing else, the way she was headed provided ample shelter. There was a craggy mountainside with a cave mouth at its base. Near that stood little structures. A mine, maybe? Or somebody’s homes? Only one way to find out she supposed.

Rivet squinted as if that would help her hear better. "What?" she asked in an all too loud voice. "Did you say something? Who are you? Wait, you're another lombax!"

Off in the distance, another whistling noise followed by a big kaboom. Rivet's ears kept ringing.

"We should find cover! It's not safe out here! AND IT'S REALLY LOUD!"

The lombax stood with thumb and forefinger cupping her chin as she looked toward the parade of explosions slowly growing closer. There was a thoughtful expression on her face and a quirked eyebrow.  

“Nope...naw...definitely the explosions.” She replied to herself.

Her ears perked, scanning for the introduction of a new sound pattern within the cacophony of detonations. Lunali’s stance became more defensive. She swiveled her head around, lavender eyes squinted as she looks around. She jumped, facing the voice’s source with a makeshift fighting stance—fingers curled and raised high, leg lifted a bit.

A pause.

Oh!

The female lombax’s stance relaxed and she smiled.

“WHAT?!” She yelled back, cupping her hands around her mouth to help the sound of her voice travel despite the ongoing chorus of bangs and booms. ‘We should find cover! It’s not safe out here!’ she could read being mouthed by the other lombax. “OH! YEA THAT...MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA...” She yelled back sheepishly, ears lowering a bit behind her in shame.

Lunali looked around, trying to find any safe place to take cover.

Aha! A large chunk of space station! Perfect.

Gesturing with her hand at the other female, she pointed toward the large piece of debris and rushed over to it. She jumped over and curled up, covering her ears as much as she could from the blasts.
