Not to be overdramatic but the whole point of CM is that it comes full circle. Reid replaces Gideon, starting out as the newest profiler and ending up as the most experienced. He becomes another version of Gideon, the person Gideon could have been in another life, who didn’t make the same mistakes. Reid, unlike Gideon, moved on from the death of his first love; he learned to carry the understanding of people that crushed Gideon; maintained hope instead of despair; stayed connected to the people around him instead of pushing them away; asked for help. If life is a chess game, Reid picked up where Gideon left off, but he broke the pattern Gideon couldn’t escape and wrote his own ending.
It makes sense. Why Gideon’s goodbye letter was addressed to Reid. Why he hallucinates visiting Gideon’s grave with Maeve. There’s one beautiful still in 2x18, when Reid says he’ll never miss another plane again, and the look Gideon gives him is one of pure disappointment. It was as if he saw Reid’s future just as clearly as his own past, and the pain of seeing that inevitability play itself out before him was almost too much to bear. Like a sad movie you’ve seen before and part of you still thinks the ending might change, but you’re faced with seeing it happen all over again.
Reid almost met the same end Gideon did, on the floor of his apartment with no one even knowing he was there, but he didn’t. Just like he didn’t collapse into himself the way Gideon did, didn’t quit the team, didn’t lose his belief in happy endings. He’s an echo of Gideon, a mirror, but he could have been so much more, and he wasn’t. Gideon was wrong. The whole point of this show is that endings can be changed, they can be rewritten, and so can people. There are patterns to our behavior, cycles, but they do not determine who we turn out to be. In the end, only we decide that.

they have a favorite russian bakery, and they get brunch there at least twice a month. spencer gets blinchiki because "every culture has their version of a pancake!" and because he has a sweet tooth. emily gets piroshki because she loves fried food with meat and veggies, and they get an order of potato vareniki to share. spencer goes heavy on the sour cream.
they only speak russian when talking to each other when it's just the two of them, or when they wanna publicly gossip without anyone knowing it
turns out spencer knows a lot of bad words in russian, and he's not as reserved about cussing when using foreign languages
canonically, emily knows more languages then spencer, and loves to remind him of that
she'll say something to him in russian, then switch to arabic halfway through to confuse him. he'll try to figure it out, thinking she's still speaking russian, but eventually have to admit he doesn't know what she said
she just has a shit-eating grin like, "oh sorry, forgot you don't speak seven languages"
she eventually teaches him some less common french, german, and arabic words that he would be unlikely to know, but she teaches him what they translate to in russian rather than english
eventually they just develop their own language. they use four different ones at a time, and blatantly talk shit about the team to their faces and no one can crack it.
(garcia cant use a translator app because they can only detect one language at a time)
they weren't the fastest friends when emily joined, but eventually the two of them have a friendship that just reminds emily of only the comforting parts of her childhood, while spencer is so lucky to have someone who likes his foreign films, books, and food.
emily was the first (and only) one to figure out spencer's addiction
spencer tried to apologize for acting out when he met her, but she knows and reminds him that what happened to him is not his fault
spencer knows the most about emily's past, because she trusts him the most to never betray her secrets
he's allergic to sergio and refuses to come over unless emily puts him in a separate room
he one time grabbed emily's fbi jacket on accident instead of his own, and was sneezing the entire time during a very serious takedown because of sergio's hair on it.
Spencer is not conscious when he’s sticking out his tongue or when he’s biting or licking his lips when he’s concentrated, people had thought different things about why he does that, but the real reason is because he likes the feeling of doing so, and in some way, it helps him concentrate.
Why he wears cardigans when it’s even sunny? He feels like he’s wrapped around someone all day long, it feels comfortable.
He’s a picky eater.
He has trouble waking up in the mornings.
And he’s not a morning person.
He stays up all night doing random things, but sometimes he can fall asleep when it’s verily 6 pm
He likes sitcoms and rom-coms
His soft spot he likes people to touch, besides of his hair, it’s temples. He likes when people caresses them.
He’s touch starved and touch deprived.
He buries his face in peoples necks because it’s a comfort-warm place, and he sighs when someone hugs him.
He had to grow up too fast, and hide his feelings. He wouldn’t tell you if something bothers him, if something hurt him etc.
That’s why the team keeps making jokes on him because they think he knows they’re joking.
He does catch jokes, but if they’re bad ones (like dad jokes) he’d just ramble random facts about the joke so he doesn’t have to pretend it’s funny.
Yet, he doesn’t catch much of sarcasm or the jokes the team puts on him, it depends.
He wanted to be a medical doctor.
He wanted to be a veterinarian.
He lied when he said he only listen to classical music. He does like classical music but he likes other ones like pop (cough taylor swift)
He stays up when Taylor is gonna release albums.
Hes the best at catching Taylor’s hidden messages or little Easter eggs, he loves that about her and that’s why she’s one of his favourite and he’s always right when he makes a theory.
He have or had a tumblr blog so he can freely ramble about things, and it was pretty famous.
He didn’t used his own name tho.
He’s a writer.
He likes everything that has chocolate.
He doesn’t know how to order in Starbucks, therefore he doesn’t go there.
When he was younger his mum and him used to watch certain cartoons when she was in her good days, and he watches them even now.
He doesn’t like the zoo.
He wanted to have a sister, and he does consider Garcia as one.
He doesn’t consider JJ his sister. She’s his best friend, he feels weird calling her ‘sister’ after having a crush on her, and he had that crush on her for long time, but when they were on the date and she started dating Will, he couldn’t see her as something more.
He does want kids, but he’s afraid at the same time
