Lana Parrilla and Rebecca Mader Gold Panel - Creation Vancouver 2018
Wish I was there! I've never been to a Con/Panel and with the show ending I won't Ā ever get the chance. :(
Can you relate well with Roni?
Very much so. I think sheās probably closer to me. Sheās a little more laid-back, a little more down to earth. Kind of rough around the edges. And thatās pretty much who I am⦠She kind of reminds me of the bandit Regina. I really loved playing the bandit Regina. I remember I made some choices that were very specific to the character and they really loved that and they wanted me to bring those elements to Roniāā
Regina/Roni/EQ is/are my favourite! Lana Parrilla is amazing!
- severus decided to go to therapy on his own. he told no one and chose a therapist in a different city
- the first time he met the therapist he was so apprehensive he almost left. the woman was taller than he was and she had a stern look. she never smiled but shook his hand firmly. her office had very few items besides the stuffed chairs
- she asked him questions and he answered watching her closely but she was completely neutral save for a few micro expressions. then she asked him why he came. severus had an answer ready but it took him a few minutes to get it out. he was in a cult, then he became an informant for 20 years. the leader of the cult nearly killed him.
- there was no judgement in her face save for the slight widening of her eyes. how was he supposed to know what to say if she hid her reactions well? she asked about what he wanted to get out his therapy.
- severus told her he wanted to move on. they spoke on what was holding him back. it was the trauma, lily, his high school, harry and dumbledore
- the following week, despite deciding to look for another therapist, he went back. she taught him breathing techniques to lessen the impact of his panic attacks and he bought elastic bands on the way home. it took him a few weeks but he snapped his wrist every time a train of self hating thoughts hit him
- a month in, they started talking medication. she talked him through the different types, the effects and side effects. severus charmed his medicine bottles to vibrate when itās time for a pill
- they decided that because he never really got say what he wanted, they would try letter writing. severus would write a letter to someone and burn it. in the beginning his letters were timid and he never really talked about much. it felt really good to destroy the letters. 62 letters later, he was feeling bold enough to write more, write harshly, let the anger and disgust he held back in their memory or presence spill out. throughout it all, severus would look over his shoulder, convinced he was being watched
- half a year later, one of potterās owls found him. severus was almost convinced he could send back a reply. the note was harmless enough but after half a day of putting it off, he sent the owl back and warded his apartment better
- six months in, severus had asked the therapist if there was something wrong with him. every forward step was met with one set back after another. the therapist told him that recovery was never straightforward, that he had gone through a lot in his life, that it will take time to become better. she advised him to note all the improvements, no matter how small
- severus opened his notebook and wrote down that it was two weeks since he occluded. it was five days since he was sick with anxiety. he did his breathing exercises. he walked in front of leaky cauldron without hiding behind his face. a man at a cafe smiled at him and he nodded back. he was sleeping five hours a night now. lily hasnāt been in his dreams in a month. dumbledore hasnāt been in his nightmares in a week. his book had three new chapters. the flat was clean. he found himself lingering in the animal shelter more often these days
- the next session, severus asked if it was ok to get a pet.the therapist talked him through the best animals for his case. a month later he went home with a siamese cat
- the first time he invited someone over, they had tea, watched a football game and drank wine over a conversation about a play severus wanted to see. the next morning, severus found them gently petting his cat

Understanding a Shame-Based Personality
There is a difference between blaming and shaming a person. Blaming is being told you did something wrong. Shaming is being told that thereās something wrong with you, and youāre worthless, bad, inferior or inadequate. Examples of shaming statements include:
⢠āYou were a mistake; I wish Iād never had youā ⢠āYouāre useless; youāll never amount to anything.ā ⢠āYou could never do what he/she doesā ⢠āYouāve ruined my life; you ruin everything for everyoneā
Adults shamed in childhood have the following traits: 1. They are afraid to share their true thoughts and feelings with others. 2. They are terrified of intimacy and put up walls in relationships. They also fear commitment as they expect to be rejected. 3. They are often extremely shy, easily embarrassed, and are terrified of being shamed or humiliated. They tend to suffer from debilitating false guilt. 4. They struggle with feelings of worthlessness and believe they are inferior to others. They believe that is something they can never change as worthlessness is at the core of who they are. 5. They often feel ugly and flawed, even when theyāre beautiful ā and everyone tells them that. 6. They may be narcissistic and act as if they have it all together; alternatively, they may be completely selfless, almost to the point of being a doormat. 7. They are often very defensive and find it hard to bear the slightest criticism. They feel as if they are being constantly watched and judged. 8. They have a pervasive sense of loneliness and always feel like outsiders (even when others genuinely like and love them). 9. They feel controlled ā as if they always have to do want others want and say ā and this blocks spontaneity. 10. They are perfectionists and usually suffer from performance anxiety. This may also cause them to be procrastinators. 11. They tend to block their feelings through compulsive behaviors like eating disorders, retail therapy or substance-abuse. 12. They find it hard to establish and enforce healthy boundaries with others.
I don't remember being shamed as a child but as an adult so many of these points apply to me... Actually I think all 12 apply to me. š¤š
You know, for science
Just for @graymindlove, I have done some research to prove my hypothesis that Tom Hiddleston almost always prefers to kiss with his mouth open. Because, ya know, why not. See below evidence.
The always thrilling Mr. Sharpe:
The lovely King Henry V
Sexy as sin Adam
The precious William
Hell, even Coriolanus breaks his hard wall for the open-mouthed kiss
Weāll have to see how Laing and Pine fit into this, but given the above mentions, I think itās fair to say he has a favorite move.
I think we need more evidence:
Young Bill is still working it out:
Freddie approached with open lips:
Freddie goes for the full French at the window (though Hes initiated this one):
And they continued thus on the couch:
After observation, itās seems likely that the move is to approach with slightly parted lips, take a breath ā drinking in his partnerās scent ā and then gently push his lower lip into her mouth while pulling her upper lip slightly into his own.Ā
Conclusion: excellent technique.
1000 bonus points to @freckletriangleofdoom for her conclusion of this research.Ā
I think itās about time to bring this back. With, of course, the inclusion of a few more examples. For, you know, science:
Jonathan Pine
This here is the perfect example of his normal technique:
Didnāt quite land it, but we see the same technique would have been in place (and I just couldnāt leave it out)
Dr. Robert Laing (kill me)
Hank Williams
In conclusion: this was more painful to update than originally planned for, and now Iām going to go crawl in a hole.
Kill me, too.
He likes to breathe in his women. Itās infuriating
That ^ is one of the worst sentences I ever read.
I second that š©

The last one when he moves his gaze from the lens to the screen and sees himself and suddenly that goofy smile appears? I get the same look when I see him. Even he isnāt immune to his own Stupid Angel Face. š

āIn Sense and Sensibility, Emma Thompson wrote a line that her character says about Colonel Brandon:Ā āHe is the kindest and best of men.ā And that was Alan. When we made that movie together, I was 19 and absolutely terrified of everything. And he was terrifying. The first time I met him, he walked onto the hair and makeup bus and he seemed giganticājust impossibly tall and impossibly intimidating. It actually felt like I was standing underneath this vast architectural structure. But really, he was always a great big softy. If there was one word I could use to really describe Al, it would be kind. My daughter actually had a tiny role in A Little Chaos, and I kept saying to her, āWhen Alan is directing you, youāve got to just try and not think, āMy God, itās Snape!āā But she couldnāt do it. She said, āMommy, he was so kind to me, but I just kept thinking, āSnape isnāt that kind!āā At Alās memorial, Juliet Stevenson told the story of how whenever Al would go out to supper and anyone else would try and pay, he would somehow have phoned ahead or slipped his credit card ahead of the meal so no one even got a look at the check. Heād just say, āIāve got two words for you: Harry Potter.ā And he became known for doing that. What can you say but āthank youā?ā ā Kate Winslet, Entertainment Weekly (24 Dec. 2016) [x]

Remember
With 2017 almost upon us I think we should have a moment of silence for all those who didn't make it to see the new year. Let us pause and remember everyone who passed this year... May they find peace and smile down at their loved ones left behind. Happy New Year... !
āThereās a woman and in that woman thereās a heart I love. Iām gonna take it with me when I go"
Alan Rickman remembered by Ian Rickson
Ā Going back to his last weeks, earlier this year, what struck me was how all his thoughts were about those left behind: finding the right song to honour Rima, his widow, at the memorial (he chose Take It With Me by Tom Waits).. When I asked him how he felt about dying, he said ā after a pause ā ācalmā. Perhaps that generosity of spirit had enabled him to get his house in order (he literally furnished a new house for Rima for her new life), say goodbye to as many people as he could, and hopefully feel a sense of pride at how much he had achieved in his life.

2016-2017
I just smashed a glass table light, by accident, at my grandparents house. Knocked it right off the night stand... Looking down at all the shattered glass, and the few remaining intact pieces I thought 'This pretty much sums up the year' 2016 has not been a very good year. Sure maybe a few good things happened but I feel like they were outweighed by all the bad things. I read somewhere that broken glass is a sign of good luck... Here's hoping that it's true and 2017 brings us some much deserved good luck... Happy New Year Everyone!
