#a mix between scrivener and ellipsus for the most part #if i'm putting any serious thought into my writing i will break out scrivener #but i like playing with ellipsus for breezy little oc docs meant to be shared with my friends #before i got scrivener though i used to jot down notes about my oc world in a tiny little textedit window #(right in the middle of my college notes no less)#i may have been a shameless multitasker about it #(i should actually boot up the old mac and grab some of those textedit files for myself since it has notes on proto-elysia circa 2013)#(those might be of use to me for Reasons)

#i'm halfway through reading an ebook of three bags full by leonie swan (translated by anthea bell)#i missed out on seeing the movie it's based on in theaters and i thought it would be a really interesting read (and it is!)#love seeing the world through the eyes of a flock of sheep #love seeing how the way they see the world differs from that of a human's #love me some xenofiction #i love maple and mopple and othello a lot #and i haven't seen a lot of the winter lamb yet but i love his spark

Are these leaves or something else? Is you said "something else," you're right! They are sea slugs called Elysia chlorotica, which use sunlight and CO2 , much like plants.

#i love these guys not just because their genus name is the same name as my silly bird oc #but because a sea slug that also looks like a leaf and photosynthesizes like one is really cool

genuinely brings me joy to see all references to that series be replaced because its become so thoroughly tainted. also means people have no excuse to just drop it entirely at this point.

Another day, another doggy you can’t pet. Meet the dhole (Cuon alpinus). Found widely across parts of Asia from India to China to Indonesia, this social canid typically lives in groups of up to 12 individuals. Sometimes it even socializes with other groups of dholes to form “super packs” of more than 30 members! Teamwork enables these hunters to take down prey ten times their size. And unlike many other species of canid, dholes allow their pups to feed first on kills. Their diet includes pigs, deer, and buffalo.
