The First King of Hyrule ✨🌿
If Zelda was a 90s anime.
I just remembered how emotional the story of breath of the wild is and I got lowkey choked up for a second there
They LOST. Zelda's trusted friends and her father were all violently killed, her kingdom was destroyed overnight, Link died in her arms because she couldn't unlock her powers in time. Can you imagine the guilt? The utter, soul crushing regret she must have felt?
Link was asleep for one hundred years. Zelda held Ganon at bay for one hundred years. Impa and Robbie and Purah waited for Link for one hundred years. THE CHAMPIONS' GHOSTS WERE TRAPPED IN THEIR DIVINE BEASTS FOR ONE HUNDRED YEARS. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG ONE HUNDRED YEARS IS???
The world ENDED. ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO. And life still moved on. Plants grew, people grew old and had children who in turn grew up and had children. People traveled, put down roots, collected and bought and sold and traded, connected with other people, fell in love, discovered old artifacts and invented entirely new ones.
Then into this new world stepped two people from the past. Just a couple of kids. And Link and Zelda found each other again. They came back to each other, forever changed and yet exactly the same. They defeated the thing that defeated them one hundred freaking years ago, the thing that killed everyone they loved and razed the world they grew up in. These hundred year old ghosts in the bodies of kids, haunting the land, finally completing their unfinished business. The fact that it was the kids who came back to finish it, not the king or the soldiers or the adult champions, trapped in their beasts. The kids that had such terrifying roles to play, an enormous responsibility that stole away their childhood, who cried in each other's arms in the forest after they lost everything.
They were seventeen years old. They were seventeen years old. Do you understand.
I'm feeling so many things for this seven year old game.
I think we really missed out on Rauru being a companion for the entirety of TOTK- someone you could talk to and could give you descriptions of different places- or lack thereof.
On the other hand, I doubt Nintendo would have done a fraction of the interesting things I've imagined for such a companionship:
Only Link can see him. This is in line with the tidbits from the game that imply very few people can see poes (mentioned in a Yiga journal) and from what we know about only Link being able to see koroks and talk to statues. That, and of course, they're linked.
Rauru, having died during the imprisoning war, wouldn't know about Zelda's fate, or the lengths she and the sages took to prepare for Link. It's possible he wouldn't even notice the fake Zelda, either.
Imagine the angst of being reunited with his sister and learning how long she's been stuck as a spirit too.
Link is probably the only one who sees the memories, but Rauru could ask about them.
He could be excited to share info about certain locations, but extremely cagey about others. I imagine the Gerudo region, both on the surface and beneath it, would have a lot of moments like this.
The ending actually carries some weight, because he's not just showing up after dissappearing.
Going further into some interactions further from canon, though...
Rauru can still seize control of his own arm if he so chooses. I can imagine he may even refuse to give that up if there's something he doesn't want link to see?
Imagine as you progress, there's more clues that point to sinister acts Rauru had committed in the past... but Link has to pretend not to care, really, because the perpetrator is fused to him.
am i tweaking or is the seized construct battle theme a parallel/complement to the monk maz koshia battle theme?
“What business have you in Ikana Kingdom, land where only the dead roam?” — Sharp (Majora's Mask)

They deserve a nice break.
Please do not label/tag as LU.
I had the absolute honour to contribute the Majoras Mask April piece for the Zelda Planner
They have left over sales up right now
What about Dragon Sonia, Dragon Rauru and Dragon Mineru? Would they hang with Light Dragon Zelda and the fact that I'm also wondering if Dragon Sonia would be small too cause of being a Hylian and how eerie a Spirit Dragon would be! Sad too with how Mineru was effected by The Gloom in her final moment. 😱😭
HAD to make Mineru look fucked up and weird as the spirit dragon

Out of the many things I love in TotK, I love the Constructs and I love the birds.
