Slosh Pit || Raven and Jason

Opening a club with Jason had been one of the wisest decisions Raven had made in some time. It gave her a solid extra income outside of her day job, and helped get her out of the house. Since she’d gone inactive in the hero field, her nights and weekends had been rather dull, and this certainly livened it up.

As he explained a little of it on the phone, she set her pen down and closed the accounting book in front of her. Raven didn’t even have to acknowledge him as she clicked to end the call, Jason knew what her response would be, and by now the two of them could almost predict what the other was going to say when dealing with issues like this. In no time at all, she was out the door and down the back steps from the office to the club entrance.

She could feel the bass from the speakers as she pushed the door open, sighing and shaking her head when she noticed the group in question from across the room. The crowd seemed to part as she made her way from one end to the other, most of the regular patrons knowing that Raven was not one to get in the way of.

"What seems to be the issue here," she asked rather calmly, staring the increasingly aggressive woman down. "My partner here says that you ladies are complaining about your tab?"

When Rae showed up, Jason couldn't have been any more relieved. She had girlie body parts. She would know how to talk those ladies down whereas Jay would just make the problem worse. It probably didn't help the fact they were all hitting on him too, but whatever.

Instead, he turned his attention to the man in the fedora that came through the musicians' entrance, the door closest to where they normally set up their DJs and local bands. He looked like any other asshole of Gotham's underworld, and he probably wanted the same thing, too. Tilting his head upward, Jason's teal eyes were cold even though he smiled at the customer. "What can I do for you tonight, buddy?"

"I got a business proposition for ya."

Exactly as Jay expected. Just like the others, this guy was straight down to business. "Oh really now? I prefer it when people make appointments to have meetings with me."

"This ain't that type of business, kid."

"You don't say."

The guy tipped his own head up, showing most of his face through the shadow of the fedora. "It's a...insurance proposition. Ya see, yinz are in Sonny Aldoura's territory."

"Aldoura's territory? What happened to Fatone? He die or something?" Jason knew full well what happened. He shot the guy himself.

The gangster gulped. "Somethin' like that. So. You gonna pay or what? It's even at a deal, $200 the first week."

"We don't have that kind of money just yet." If being Robin all those years ago taught him anything, he knew how to be charismatic and to lie. "We won't have that until we tally tonight's totals. Meet me in the back alley at 3 a.m.? I'm sure it won't be a problem for you, if you want your money without the cops being involved."

The man's eyes shifted. He was scared of the alley, but it was going to have to work. "We're an up front insurance agency, kid."

"Sorry. I don't control the circumstances. If you want clean money, you'll come back at 3 a.m."

The man snarled and muttered a curse under his breath. "Alright! Fine! 3 a.m., and you better be out there!" He rushed off, and it was just when Raven was still settling the tab with the ladies. When she caught a break, he nodded to her. "You gonna take care of him later, or should I?"

BIkers Against Child Abuse Helps Make Abused Children Feel Safe Again

“A biker’s power and intimidating image can even the playing field for a little kid who has been hurt. If the man who hurt this little girl calls or drives by, or even if she is just scared, another nightmare, the bikers will ride over and stand guard all night.

If she is afraid to go to school, they will take her and watch until she’s safely inside.

And if she has to testify against her abuser in court, they will go, too, walking with her to the witness stand and taking over the first row of seats.”

During one such testimony, a little boy sat on the stand, testifying against his abusive father, who sat less than 10 feet away.  

“Why didn’t you say anything before now?” Asked the prosecutor.

“I was scared.” The little boy replied, honestly.

“Why aren’t you scared now, what changed?” The prosecutor watched the little boy closely as he pointed to the front row of seats in the court room.

“Because my friends are scarier than he is.”
