I think the funniest thing I learnt today was that antis DID try to make their own ao3, but the restrictions made it impossible to do anything.

Nobody on the site could agree on one solid concept of "moral" and "immoral", so it spawned a plethora of huge arguments and the site had to be shut down.

And the tagline was "good fiction for good people."

Can I just add that something similar to this has been going around in my mind. Not necessarily about fics but society formed by people.

Like society formed by people who are insistent that they are the most morally correct ones and everyone else is wrong. If that kind of society were to happen, who gets to decide what's moral and immoral? Everyone's view of moral and immoral would always be different. No one would be able to agree. Everyone would fight each other. In my mind that kind of society would collapse immediately. But that has just been a thought experiment because I have never seen or heard society like that in the real world.

And today on tumblr I get to read a second hand account of exactly that kind of "society" happening, on a scale of fic writers who insist about "correct morality". No one could agree on what counts as moral and what doesn't. Everyone argued, site got shut down. Apparently got so bad that not many people even remember the name.

Scielune Justification (tread carefully: full game spoilers ahead)

Disclaimer: I don't think anyone has to justify their ships, but as a fanfiction writer, I just love finding explanations for my AUs that could've worked in canon! This is only my personal preference and not a way to demean anyone's works because essentially, we all do the same thing.

The way she's written, Sciel never truly moves on over her husband's death—and can we blame her for that? Everyone in this world is in a perpetual state of grief—including anticipatory—and thinks it's pointless to even try to heal when you only have just a few years left. This conviction briefly shatters when we "kill the Paintress," and for the first time in their short lives, people of Lumière see hope—not vain for a change if we choose Maelle's ending.

It is said she can't resurrect those killed by Nevrons, since their chroma is no longer pure. And the dead normally vanish—not only during the Gommage but also people who died of natural causes or accidents. This is evident by the first dialogue with a white Nevron, Gustave's body's disappearance, and the fact that Maelle only raises corpses on the beach even though some were killed by Renoir.

But what if she doesn't bring everyone back? What if she can only reverse the Gommage? What if she actually needs to know someone as a person to resurrect them? The real them, not "this re-painted version that they are." As Verso pointed out, it's about essence, not verisimilitude (and we don't know if Maelle has ever interacted with Pierre—she was about ten when he died). It doesn't sound as a stretch when you remember she's not all that strong as a Paintress, compared to other family members. Not only does this provide a basis for my OTP but also makes the ending less unambiguous for the players who only care about Lumière and ignore the Dessendres (no judgment!).

Now, let's return to the girls. The city is saved. The countdown has stopped. Tomorrow has come, and perpetual grief is no longer the only thing that exists in this world. They have a full life ahead of them—a life free of constant haste and forced expectations.

Sciel used to dream of reuniting with everyone in the afterlife. Then, after Act 2, she'd hoped Maelle would resurrect Pierre. Having been gommaged, now Sciel knows there's nothing waiting for her after death. Maybe that's when she'd finally accept her husband's fate, learn to live in the present and plan for the future? With no illusions left, all she can do is face the facts and start to heal. Sciel managed to find a reason to live once, and I want to believe she can do it again, especially with support.

And while she was friends with Sophie, no one connected with Sciel as Lune did. They initially bonded over shared grief (twice!), and having to spend the last year of one's life in a tight team on an isolated continent naturally makes people open up to each other in another, more intimate way. Moreover, no one in Lumière understands what they went through or had to sacrifice to save the world. Between a literal goddess, an immortal man, or legendary creatures, Sciel is the only one Lune can actually relate to, and vice versa.

But now that she's completed her parents' work and doesn't have to dedicate all of her time to endless research, Lune would be able to afford at least a few "distractions"—something entirely unfamiliar yet enticing to her, as they have a lot of catching up to do after all these years. One might teach the other how to relax and approach people, while the latter could guide her through methods of using the pain to continue when one falls. And maybe said "distraction" would become interested in something more than a casual fling after they showed each other a new way of life?

After all, the moon belongs to the sky.

Emmoniromantic / Emmoniaromantic

Emmoniromantic (emmoni-romantic) is a term on the aromantic spectrum that describes individuals who confuse their intense fixation on someone with romantic feelings but after this fixation fades away, they realize they weren't truly in love. Some individuals may choose to call it 'obsession' or 'limerence'. It can be used as a tertiary identity or romantic orientation on its own or alongside with flutter attraction and/or pseudoromantic.

Emmoniaromantic (emmoni-Aromantic) is a similar term for those who don't experience any other kind of 'romantic' attraction.

This term is exclusive to neurodivergent individuals who can develop a hyperfixation on someone or great passion for their 'X person' (attachment figure; can be referred to as 'favorite person', 'safe person', 'chosen person', etc.). It can be used by those who are formally diagnosed, self-diagnosed or questioning but not transabled people and the like.

Below the cut are disorder-specific versions of the flags, their meaning and related terms.

The term comes from the Greek word 'emmoni' (fixation, obsession, perseverance, persistence). The colors don't have any distinct meaning behind them as they were essentially taken from aromantic and the aromantic spectrum flags. Curved lines symbolize struggles with figuring out one's attraction; dull colors indicate fading attraction; and the broken heart represents a revelation about the true nature of their feelings. The heart was inspired by the symbol from this page. You may edit the flags however you like; no need for credit.

Happy two years Lies of P! I had only just gotten into this game last year, but since then it’s skyrocketed into one of my favorite games! Such a beautiful story, with amazing design and music 💙 From the moment I saw Sophia I knew she was going to grab me as a character I would love to cosplay and I couldn’t have been more right in my prediction. I tend to cosplay characters I really feel a sense of connection to, so I just adored being able to fall in love with her character and design as the game played out; I’m hoping to do more of Sophia in the future 🦋

New gendervoid/voidgender identities! (Part 2/2)

Voidselenian (voidselenic) [PT: void-selen-ian, void-selen-ic] A combination of voidlunar [PT: void-lunar] and voidstellar [PT: void-stellar] (femininity/womanhood plus non-binary). Just like before, this is for those who wish to emphasize their non-binary identity on the same level as more specific labels. Technically, comes from "selenian" and "selenic" [PT: selenian and selenic], synonyms of "lunar." Selene is also one of the poetic epithets for the moon and a Greek counterpart to the Roman goddess Luna.

Voidheliac (voidhelical, voidheliacal, voidhelian, voidhelic) [PT: void-hel-iac, void-hel-ic-al, void-hel-iac-al, void-hel-ian, void-hel-ic] A combination of voidsolar [PT: void-solar] and voidstellar [PT: void-stellar] (masculinity/manhood plus non-binary). Technically, comes from "heliacal" / "heliac" [PT: heliacal/heliac] (alternative spellings), a rather rare synonym of "solar." Helios, one of the sun gods, is a Greek counterpart to the Roman god Sol.

Voidnebular (voidnebularian, voidnebularic) [PT: void-nebular, void-nebular-ian, void-nebular-ic] A combination of the previous two (i.e., voidlunar + voidsolar + voidstellar) [PT: void-lunar plus void-solar plus void-stellar]. Since by definition these identities are non-binary, they all are "stellar" in one way or another—and where are stars born? In a stellar nursery—a nebula.

Q: Why don't you just use voidgirl (voidboy)/libragender/agirl (aboy)? A: Voidboy or voidgirl means you feel like you're partially a boy or girl (per some definitions; however, the terms themselves are focused on man-/womanhood, unlike my labels), but I feel like neither (this is different from having a connection and wanting to be perceived in a certain way). And libragender and agirl (aboy) require you to at least partially identify as agender, but that's simply not who I am. Which brings us to the next question…

Q: How is gendervoid different from agender? A: They are similar but differently nuanced. Both are genderless identities and under the same umbrella, but while agender in its core is about not having a gender (to various degrees) in the first place or having a gender that is null/neutral, a gendervoid person typically feels a void/blank space where a gender would otherwise be, has their gender filled with void, or describes their gender as void. As such an individual, I'm not comfortable with calling myself agender as I do, in fact, have a place for gender but can't feel anything except for the void. Does this make sense?

Q: Why do you create niche terms instead of just saying "non-binary"? A: I usually say I'm NB when promptly asked about my gender, but it's too broad of a term for me to be fully satisfied with this because every experience is unique, so this word doesn't really make me feel seen and heard. And since there were already labels that perfectly describe how I feel but coined for agender folks, I figured it wasn't fair to me nor them to identify with agender terms, so I just created a counterpart for me.

Q: Can I edit those? Do I have to credit you? A: Yes, you can, and no, it's not mandatory. Nothing makes me happier than seeing people using my labels/flags. Feel free to ask for the PSD, too, if you need.

Oh gods, the amount of times I almost typed "sonar" instead of "solar"... I tried to put my thoughts into words to the best of my ability, but please let me know if there are any typos or bad grammar moments.

Voidlunar [PT: void-lunar] (alternative spellings: voidlunarian [PT: void-lunar-ian], voidlunaric [PT: void-lunar-ic]) A gender in which one is fully or mostly gendervoid but has a connection (whether strong or not) to femininity and/or prefers to be perceived as a woman/girl/gal. Derived from "lunar" [PT: lunar], pertaining to or resembling the moon, which is typically associated with femininity/womanhood in some cultures.

Voidsolar [PT: void-solar] (alternative spellings: voidsolarian [PT: void-solar-ian], voidsolaric [PT: void-solar-ic]) A gender in which one is fully or mostly gendervoid but has a connection (whether strong or not) to masculinity and/or prefers to be perceived as a man/boy/guy. Derived from "solar" [PT: solar], pertaining to or proceeding from the sun, which is typically associated with masculinity/manhood in some cultures.

Voidstellar (voidstellarian, voidstellaric) [PT: void-stellar, void-stellar-ian, void-stellar-ic] The non-binary equivalent of the above. This is for those who want to completely distance themselves from the concept of femininity and masculinity and wish to emphasize being non-binary as a significant, if not main, part of their queer identity. Basically, consider this a combination of gendervoid and non-binary into one term and flag. Derived from "stellar" [PT: stellar], pertaining to or characteristic of stars. Why specifically stars? Because we usually talk about them in the plural (which reminds me of singular they), and while they're heavily associated with the moon and night, the sun is also a star.

Voidsolunar (voidsolunarian, voidsolunaric) [PT: void-so-lunar, void-so-lunar-ian, void-so-lunar-ic] The identity for those who have a connection to both masculinity and femininity (can be in varying proportions) and/or prefer to be perceived as male/female/androgyne (whether it be just one of these or all of them at once, or maybe you alternate/fluctuate between each—the label is as broad as you want it to be). The term is a combination of "solar" [PT: solar] and "lunar" [PT: lunar].

By the way, the white thing is a nod/reference to the voidpunk [PT: voidpunk; link] flag.
