Adam was starting to worry.
There were way too many of them in town now for him to write off as just a small gathering of some mythical creatures. It was starting to look like some sort of invasion, and Adam was worried that he was in the center of it. Had he been found out? Were they all coming to be witnesses for the defence when they took him out? He kept trying to tell himself he was just being paranoid but was he though?
He was getting footage of one of these creatures and decided that was enough for the day when someone ran into him and knocked the camera out of his hands. Adam cringed at the sound of clattering, quickly kneeling to pick up his baby. “Shit,” he groaned, noticing the display on the side had almost completely broken off, only hanging on by a chord.
He was thinking about his current bank account and how much repairing it would cost when someone approached him.
Location: The Woods, Forks Open!
Kate ambled along the trail, head ducked low, eyes tracing the blue light screen of the phone in her hands as her thumbs tapped incessantly. To all intents and purposes, she looked more human that the folk striding past her with walking poles and labradoodles on leashes. Kate was wholly, totally, extraordinarily…blending right in.
However, before she knew it, Kate was deeper into the woods than she meant to be. Not realising it until she had both feet planted firmly in a a long glade of ferns and poison ivy. With a roll of those honey suckle eyes, she slipped her phone into the back pocket of her jeans, DIY home start pintrest board forgotten, and put her hands on her hips.
Kate wasn’t lost. A vampire could never get lost. She just….wasn’t where she wanted to be.
“Fucking…god damn it.” came the flippant utter. This was not ideal.
Emmett was always careful to hunt as far away from people as possible. When he was in the thrill of the hunt, the last thing he wanted was someone to be in the wrong place at the wrong time; Emmett had made that mistake one time too many. He was running towards one of the usual hunting spots when he noticed a familiar blonde with a puzzled and annoyed look on her face.
Kate was always such a bro and a great wrestling partner, which were some of his favorite things about the Denalis coming to visit; he could only wrestle Jasper so many times before he needed a pallette cleanser.
“Ey, Kate!” he greeted, holding his arms out in a friendly and open greeting. “Whatcha doin’ out here lookin’ all sad and shit?”
it was raining — no , pouring — again. how many times a day did it rain in the godforsaken town ? had they magically shifted ground into england ? damn it. usually alec was unbothered by rain , but usually he was inside where it was dry and pleasant and there was no imminent threat to his expensive new clothes. the particular coat he was wearing that morning certainly did not need a soak so the red eyed vampire needed a place to shelter under , and quick. closest thing he could find ( without using vampire speed ) was the glass roof of a bus stop. grumbling curses under his breath , the volturi made his way towards the shelter. sadly he wasn’t there alone for too long as another body decided to invade his space. ❝ you’re on my foot. ❞ he stated matter-o-factly to the human who had popped up beside him. ❝ move , please. these shoes are expensive. ❞ ( @lwilighlmuses - adam )
Adam was, admittedly, not the most observant person when he was focusing on something else. Sure, he may had been hunting, in a way, these mystical humanoids running around Forks, but as he was watching some footage he had gotten of one of them, he neglected to notice another one right next to him, even to the point of stepping on him. “Oh, shit, sorry!” he said honestly, looking down to see if his sneakers had made any marks on the aforementioned expensive shoes; Adam was a college student, he wouldn’t be able to replace them.
And then he looked up to meet those semi-familiar red eyes. Adam hoped the fear wasn’t written all over his face, but he had never been that great of an actor. He quickly closed the screen on his video camera, not wanting the footage to be seen. “Sorry,” he repeated, hoping he would be able to get through this conversation without being caught.
bullet trotted eagerly beside him as they wandered the forest trail, enjoying the breeze that gently shuffled the trees around them. the peace and quiet was almost unsettling to him, as it was so at odds with what he was accustomed to. he could definitely get used to it though, he decided, watching his belgian malinois frolic through the leaves and underbrush. he couldn’t help but notice the wide space a random hiker gave them, and he sighed. ❝ he’s not aggressive, ❞ sila stated mildly, even though he was aware his seventy pound pure black dog certainly looked intimidating. bullet tilted his head inquisitively, tail wagging as he watched the patrons around them.
Despite what the other pack members might’ve said, Leah wasn’t completely heartless. She still cared about things like her brother and her tribe, as well as an appreciation and love for nature, which included animals.
Like the one wagging its tail at her right now.
Leah was only giving the dog a wide berth because she wanted to make sure she was being polite, not wanting to pet someone’s dog without their permission. She had a small smile on her face as she asked “Does that mean it’s okay to pet him?”
humming some song she couldn’t remember the name to under her breath, bella flitted around the shop, grateful for the distractions it offered. she liked her hands kept busy, as that tended to keep her mind somewhat busy as well. she was finally back on her feet, though it was still difficult to get up most mornings. she immediately banished that train of thought, focusing instead on the bouquet in her hand. the sound of the door chime was a relief - another distraction. ❝ welcome to the flower pot! ❞ she called, injecting as much cheer in her voice as she could muster.
Emmett had gone to college so many times that he had completely given up on trying to get a degree. He didn’t see the point in it. Why would he need a degree? To get a job, only to have to quit it once the family decided they needed to move? Sounded pointless, and boring. So, he simply took classes he liked to help pass the time, and to keep up the illusion of his family’s normality.
However, today’s class was boring, so he decided to skip and find something else to do.
He saw Bella through the window and smirked, walking in with an upward nod of his head. “Hey Bella,” he greeted, looking around the store as he spoke. “You can drop the formality’n shit, it’s only me.”
Location: The Beach, Forks Open!
At home, the coast was an hour away and yet, Aro had not seen the sea in almost 100 years. Last he had, it had been blue as a summer sky and calm enough to allow children to wade out for a swim, a mile from shore. It was as blue as a fuzzy childhood memory, of skinny boyhood legs splashing through the Ionian and a scream of delight when he ducked low enough to see the schools of fish below the surface.
This ocean was different.
Drizzle landed in his hair and his eyelashes, soaking the taunt white skin of his eyelids. It was soft as a kiss, but cold as the grave. Here in Forks, the sea was grey and violent. It churned viciously and beat of the cliff sides like a boxer taking a punch. It was beautiful, in the way that forgotten Soviet cities were beautiful. Grey upon Grey, sharp edge upon sharp edge until it looked sweet enough to caress.
Aro loved it.
A cyan sea was fine, but Poseidon rarely visited those calm waters. It was here. on the wild coast of North America, that Aro found the old Gods, the Gods from his long dead human life, alive an well.
He closed his eyes and could feel the sea salt, sure as a kiss, on his lips when he licked them. Aro was far from home. He was far from his seat of power and further from the spies that guaranteed his safety in Italy. Yet he felt safe. He felt secure, on this horrible grey beach in the horrible mid west full of dog walkers and shape shifters.
He stared out along the coast, a lone black figure upon the cliff side, a Versace pea coat in black, a gift from his lady wife, whipped around Aros thighs and snapped like a whip in the wind. He cut an ominous figure in the dull morning, but none the less, remained a timeless and interesting one.
Adam always loved the beach, even on drab days like today. He just loved having the sand between his toes and the ocean lapping at his feet, pointing his camera out to the water for B-roll for his current project. Sure, this was a project about a bunch of mythical creatures of some type finding their way into Forks, but that meant he needed establishing shots of the setting, right?
And speaking of mythical creatures...
Adam was getting very good at being able to spot one of these things on sight. The pale skin, the red or yellow eyes, the insane hotness, it was now super easy for Adam to tune into. Like the one standing and looking at the ocean right now.
Adam tried to be subtle (a monumental task for the guy) and slowly turned his camera from the ocean to the other person on the beach, hoping to catch him in doing something strange or otherworldly.

With the flurry of returning home, Rachel had a lot on her plate. She’d had to reconnect with her family, been thrown into a surprising whirlwind romance, got told all the old legends were real, had to set up with work a remote position, all while trying to ignore the ghost of her mother that seemed to chase her every step. Needless to say, she hadn’t had much time to rekindle old friendships, but that had to change.
Even if one of her nearest and dearest friends didn’t seem the same as she had in high school.
Rachel had been there when Sam had broken Leah’s heart and Emily had played homewrecker. She’d done everything in her power to give the two the cold shoulder and support her friend. Yet, she hadn’t stuck around for long, leaving just a few months after the incident, when they all graduated, and she regret it - another thing to add to her guilty conscience.
But, she was back now. And while Rachel had a better understanding of what had happened - too good an understanding really, with an imprint of her own snapping into existence - she still wanted Leah to know that nothing had changed. Despite recognizing a shitty, unavoidable situation for a shitty, unavoidable situation, her heart was still on Leah’s side.
So, needless to say, she really wanted to reconnect with her old friend. Beyond pleased that Leah had agreed to meet, she grinned as she finally spotted the other woman. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in years, girly.” she joked, pulling the other girl into a tight hug. “Gosh, I missed you.” she murmured into Leah’s shoulder.
Leah had been doing her best.
She was handling it, which is more than she could say for some other people she knew. She got up every day, did her rounds, did her part to protect her people from the random influx of leeches that had entered the area. She was stuck in her ex-boyfriend’s head, she literally couldn’t move on, so she was coping the best way she knew how; anger was easier than the hurt.
But now Rachel was back, and things looked a lot better than they had before.
For what felt like the first time in forever, a large, genuine smile exploded onto Leah’s face as she wrapped her arms around Rachel. “I missed you too,” she admitted. “So much.” She squeezed a little tighter and rocked them slightly back and forth before pulling away. “I’m so glad you’re back.”
Leah didn’t know how else to approach the whole ‘Rachel now knows everything because of the imprint’ thing without just outright asking, and so, she did. “How are you? Handling all this... new shit alright?”
