Abed + stimming

He definitely gets more subtle with it in seasons 5 and 6, and to me it seems like a character choice related to the loss of Troy and also the situation with Hickey in “Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality”. When faced with the knowledge that he’s gonna have to make it on his own without Troy by his side, he starts to find ways to stim more subtly (except when he’s alone, which is the case in the season 5 gif in this post) because Troy is no longer there to implicitly support or explicitly defend his idiosyncrasies to others.

I don’t want it to sound like I’m saying Abed stopped stimming “because he grew up” or anything–that’s not the case and that’s not how stimming works, and stimming isn’t an immature thing for someone to do. I’m just saying that Abed changed the way he stimmed because the way he interacts with the world changed when Troy left. Abed changed, not nenecessarily for better or worse, when Troy left.
