Hey so I’m curious. You say that you support those with DID and OSDD, and that systemscringe is NOT a hate subreddit.
But it seems like quite often people get posted there for documenting their experiences with genuine symptoms of these disorders. Quite often people get mocked and made fun of on that subreddit for doing things like being vulnerable about their diagnosis on TikTok.
If anything, syscringe serves a /major/ function of continuing to stigmatize and delegitimize complex dissociative disorders. As a system who struggles with my trauma history and the disorder that accompanied it, I feel unsafe expressing myself online because of how often I’ve seen my friends (many of which are suffering as much as, if not more than me) posted on that sub without their consent and had people laugh at them and dismiss their genuine experiences.
I’m sorry, but the systemscringe subreddit actively does more harm than good for those of us who actually live with complex dissociative disorders. It’s great that you as an individual believe in our experiences and don’t want to see our disorders further stigmatized, but your subreddit very much is part of the problem, and I do mean this in the gentlest way possible.
I think you’re misunderstanding the point. /gen
The point of r/SystemsCringe, by description, “For all the cringe associated with those who claim to be ‘systems’ - faking or not…”
If someone is posted it’s because they are showing cringe aspects/misinformation of the disorder they are claiming to have. If you believe someone has been wrongfully posted, like I said a few posts ago, please use the report function. All reports go to staff, and it makes it easier for us to moderate. The moderation team can’t catch every single post. Posts that are eligible for reporting are posts that go against our rules;
Staff actively tries to delete non-cringe posts, and misinformation. If we miss anything, please report or open a modmail. (Both works too!)
Non-cringe posts would include posts that just display symptoms of the disorder. Examples; Experiencing dissociation, normal vents. You said that your friends were “posted without their consent”, I’m sorry but the internet is a public space. Everything is available to everyone. If you don’t want this happening in the future, please practice online safety. (Privatizing accounts). Actively displaying every small detail about your mental illness’ online is never smart, as you’re actively putting yourself in danger. I’m not saying nobody is allowed to represent, I’m just saying be more careful what you’re putting out and who is able to access this private information about you.
