I have a question about the SoC/Star Wars au; when in the Star wars timeline those the fic take place??? Is it before or after the original Star Wars movies or does that timeline even exist??? Maybe you mentioned it in the fic but I missed it but if the events of the original Star Wars do take place are the characters the shadow and bone characters or are they the star wars characters??? (Again you might have mentioned it and I just missed it but I found myself thinking about it and thought why not just ask??? So yeah…)

Hii! I thiiiink I mentioned it in an author's note in the beginning, but it was probably unclear!

The Star Wars/SOC au takes place roughly the same time as the beginning of Season 2 of the Andor tv series, which is about 4-5 BBY. But there's not much of any story overlap.

So about 4-5 years before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy! And about 15 years after the events of the Star Wars prequels. All of the events of the prequels have taken place in this fic, and all of the events in the original Star Wars trilogy are unaltered and unaffected by the events of the fic.

The Empire is in full power—being evil fascists and shit—and the resistance movement against it is rapidly growing. The InterGalactic Banking Clan is a very minor thing in SW canon during the prequels timeline, and we don't know much about what happened to it under the Empire. I've kicked out the canon InterGalactic Banking Clan characters and moved it to the planet Kerch. Merchant Council? No. InterGalactic Banking Clan!

There will be no Star Wars characters making an appearance in the fic, and other than the Merchant Council being the InterGalactic Banking Clan, no SOC character take on the actual role of a SW character. I may mention some big political things for world-building, like the Clone Wars or genocide of the Jedi, which would have happened when the main crows were toddlers. For timeline sake, the fic is out of the way of most things.

Emperor Palpatine exists. Darth Vader exists. Luke Skywalker is on a moisture farm on Tatooine. None of them make an appearance, but the characters are largely effected by the politics of the Star Wars universe during this time. So... Emperor Palpatine himself may not make an appearance, but his fascist regime does.

Making my own planets, throwing in some canon ones. Just shovin the crows right in there.

edit to add: Also why there's no Star Wars knowledge required to read it! It's very disconnected from any of the films/shows, just the same universe setting.

Inej symbolism with a knife!

Tw mentions of sa, sexual trafficing and child sexual assult

Do you ever think the reason why inej choise knifes is becuse they have a phaliic image. And your gonna have to listen for this one but inej was young when she was sexual assulted and lost her virginity and we can assure it was by an Olded person who didn't prep her becuse he didnt care so we can assume her firts time was violent and bloody as her body was forced to adapt to this intrusive action. Pentravie sex could be symbolic with being stabbed this intrusion of an item that's rough harsh and bloody and by inej useing a weapon of a knife she is holding who puts things in her. Like the scene where she went to use the knife against herself becuse she knew if they got her she would be raped and taken to the menagerie and she promised she would die by her own hands she would soemthing in her body by her choise rather then it being forced?

The Star Wars Original Trilogy is peak fiction because they took a fairy tale and set it in space, then they gave the princess in distress a GUN. But even better they gave her a sharp tongue and the power of revolution. They made the “dragon” a depressed cyborg father with asthma who doesn’t understand his own emotions and does murders because of it. And they made the knight a blond Barbie boy who attempts to solve problems with the power of love like he’s Sailor Moon or something.

And then they said, “oh yeah they’re all related btw. All the galaxy’s problems are this one family’s fault. Hope this helps 😘”
