Okay but every time you deal with something hard on your own, even though you feel that initial pull of sadness that you can’t go to someone who used to be a source of comfort for you to share the burden, you are actually building internal strength and fortitude. So consider THAT this morning
Louise Glück, "Poem," Winter Recipes from the Collective
It's crazy how you have to choose to be different and then once you do it's not even over - you have to choose it again and again forever and yes one day it will feel so natural you don't even notice it anymore but there is no short cut to there, just willpower and repetition
It is the phenomenon sometimes called “alienation from self.” In its advanced stages, we no longer answer the telephone, because someone might want something; that we could say no without drowning in self-reproach is an idea alien to this game. Every encounter demands too much, tears the nerves, drains the will, and the specter of something as small as an unanswered letter arouses such disproportionate guilt that answering it becomes out of the question.
Joan Didion, On Self-Respect, 1961.
this is genuinely the greatest advice out there. i don't even think there's anything i can add just read it again and again. from rainer maria rilke. aka chill :)
my only goal of the day was to write a singular paragraph

if you find yourself falling inlove again, fall inlove with me.

my friends once told me that i have this aura that when i walk into a room, people would start to stare.
we once met up and in the corner of my eye, you stared at me while i attempt to make conversations with your friends. you stared while i laugh, make jokes and instill topics. you just stared.
core memory.

i need to cut you off before all of this would become too chaoti.
all of what i made you felt was real, please know that. you are still the person i would always be thankful that became a part of me, i wanted you to stay.
you are still my best friend, but today i grieve that tomorrow you wouldn't be.
