Professor! Ryuji Matsuyama who convinced you to go to the Borderlands with him after you showed interest in his work about the afterlife. He shows his gratitude before you both leave.
After the death of his student and his attempt in which he lost control over his legs, he was convinced no one would approach him about the topic again. That was until you walked up to him after class, stating that you vaguely remember having to play the deathly games when you were involved in the meteor accident in Shibuya.
Ryuji stayed stoic, but he was mentally ecstatic knowing that he wouldn’t have to hunt down another victim, because his pretty student offered herself up instead. He led you to his office where he held all his research, debriefing you on what he knew and every one of his hypotheses. He truly admired the way you would bite your lip and stare at him in wonder each time he would rant about death beyond the Borderlands.
It was 2 a.m. when you received an email from him, asking you to meet him at a small local cafe the next evening to discuss the plan.
When you arrived, you looked inside the window of the warmly lit building and found Ryuji sitting at a table near the end of the room. You breathed in deeply before entering, the chime of the door bell notifying the man of your arrival. He looked your way, and you had to fight the urge to walk out and run away — not because you were scared, but because you were flustered. He had a habit of holding prolonged eye contact with you, to the point where you would get nervous.
Swallowing down your nerves, you walked quickly towards the table, bowing when you finally got close enough to fully see the man. Ryuji nodded his head in your direction, fighting off the urge to stare at your outfit. He loved your cute dresses and skirts, but he made a mental note to remind you to wear something more practical when you both enter the other world.
“Hi, Mr. Matsuyama.” “L/n, we’re past the need for formal names, aren’t we? We might be dying together soon anyway.” His deep voice was quiet, probably shielding the topic from others near you, yet you couldn’t deny that the sultry tone made butterflies erupt in your stomach. You nodded at his words, a blush overtaking your cheeks while you sat down opposite to him. “Would you like anything?” He offered, vaguely glancing at the menu before looking back up at you. His gaze continued, overwhelming you in every sense. You simply shook your head, “I’m okay, thank you.”
Ryuji chose to order two waters for each of you, before beginning his discussion with you. “I found a seminar, supposedly made for those like you and I who wish to enter the world. Are you available Saturday night?” Weirdly, although the thought of potential death should have been a concern, you gleamed at the news, nodding your head eagerly. He slightly smiled at your reaction, taking a sip of his drink before pulling his phone out and sending you the address. After another half hour spent talking about what to wear, what to bring, and things of a similar nature, the two of you left the cafe, agreeing to meet together before the seminar and attend together.
Saturday night came soon, and you were both physically and mentally prepared. You decided to bring a pocket knife with you, hidden underneath the tight jacket you chose to put on. Your legs were covered in athletic leggings, an article of clothing you typically wouldn’t wear, yet you remembered wishing you had something other than a measly miniskirt the first time you entered the Borderlands.
You met Ryuji on the street leading to a random old office building. He had told you through messages that the seminar would take place there, and while you were almost scared at the thought of the creepy building, you were excited to return to the land you once resided in.
When he saw you approach, Ryuji let out a sigh, taking in the way the leggings you wore hugged your legs so tight. He had priorities, none of them being related to his perversions, yet he couldn’t seem to stop thinking about what you would look like without them on. Shaking his head, he greeted you quietly when you finally arrived, to which you responded back eagerly.
You two headed to the building, taking an elevator up and following the familiar arrow signs all the way to a gray, dimly lit room. There were five other people, all dressed formally for the occasion. You grew self conscious, seeing as even your professor chose to wear a formal blazer, yet you shook off the thought. You were prepared for survival, not a fashion show.
You followed Ryuji towards a table, taking a seat and moving the one next to yours to allow for him to place his wheelchair there instead. “You must be sitting on the chair.” An older man strictly spoke, and you looked up to see him looming over you two. He must be the one who had this planned.
You looked back towards Ryuji, who seemed to have no issue using his upper strength to place himself next to you on the metallic chair. You had to fight back a blush at his ragged, heavy breaths from the physical exercise.
Not much longer after everyone was situated, the game began. It was a card game you had not heard of before, yet your nerves slightly grew when the man announced there would only be two winners. You felt bad knowing others would have to lose, yet you wondered if it meant death considering no one looked as anxious as they should be. You shrugged it off, playing by the rules you were instructed to follow. Ryuji did the same, using strategies you didn’t understand but felt as though they were protecting both you and himself. When the first person lost, an older man who seemed uninterested, he simply huffed and rolled his eyes before putting his deck down.
What no one expected was for a laser to shoot straight through his head, leaving his corpse to slam against the ground. Your heart dropped, yet you tried your best to remain calm. As if he sensed your nerves, you felt a hand holding onto your arm, and when you looked up you saw Ryuji looking at you. His eyebrows furrowed, yet the contact calmed you down. You remained still as the others panicked, standing up and getting shot too as a consequence.
The game got more intense as every round passed, leaving only three of you – you, Ryuji, and a younger man who looked as if he was going to cry any second. Ryuji held his hand up, offering the choice of which card to pick. He pushed up the right card, seemingly encouraging him to grab it, which successfully tricked the younger man into choosing the opposite. You shut your eyes as he yelled, his lifeless body slumping along the table once the final laser went off.
Both you and Ryuji let out sighs of relief, looking up to the instructor who was now standing under a suspicious fluttering light. His body appeared to shift each time the light would go on and off, changing into the form of someone else who you recognized — Banda. Of course, it had to be the maniac you were forced to partner up with during the Jack of Clubs the last time you were in the Borderlands. He seemed to recognize you as well, eyes gleaming as they moved between you and the man next to you.
“Well, well, well. It appears you two have won, so tell me, would you like to visit me in the Borderlands?” Disregarding the corpses that laid around you, stiff and unmoving, you felt compelled to nod your head in agreement. Ryuji did the same.
After a brief speech from the criminal, you two left the building. The sky was now fully dark, illuminated by a handful of stars. It made you remember how vivid the skies were in the Borderlands, due to the lack of light pollution — it made you more excited.
“Mr. Matsuyama-” “Call me Ryuji.” You blushed before continuing, “Ryuji, would you like to get drinks? Maybe we could celebrate one more time before we leave.” He found your suggestion cute, looking up at you and nodding. You smiled at him, moving towards the end of the block where you knew a small bar was open. The man followed closely behind.
When you entered the bar, you realized how dark it was inside. Aside from a couple of people drinking in a booth, it was practically empty. You stepped forward, taking a seat near the front of the room, Ryuji right behind you as you moved the chair for him to be next to you.
“Could I get a green tea shot please?” Ryuji snorted at your order, making you snap your head in his direction in offense, “Hey! Don’t laugh, it’s not that bad.” “Yeah, yeah. I’ll take whatever tequila you have.” He faced the bartender who nodded in return, stepping to the side to make your orders.
“So, are you excited?” The deep voice asked, Ryuji placing his head on his hand as he observed you through half lidded eyes. “Of course, I mean… There’s so much to explore once we’re there.” Your eyes lit up as you spoke, looking off into the ceiling in thought. Ryuji licked his bottom lip which now felt weirdly dry, moving to face the drinks that were presented in front of you. You did the same, stealing a sip of his own drink and making him laugh at your disgusted expression.
After a few shots, you both were slightly reeling, settled into a comfortable silence as you nursed another drink in your hand. You were beginning to feel hot in the stuffy bar, fanning yourself with your hand. Ryuji seemed to take notice, proposing something else, “Do you want to get out of here? My place is nearby.” Your eyes widened at his words, wondering if he had an ulterior motive or if he was innocent. Looking at him, you couldn’t gouge the answer through his stoic expression. “S-sure.” You cringed when you stuttered, yet he didn’t point it out, dropping some cash to pay for both of your drinks before leading you to the door.
True to his word, his apartment was only a couple of blocks down and you found yourself taking your shoes off in his entryway very soon. The living room was slightly decorated, mostly overtaken by books with titles like The Afterlife: Theories and Significance of Dreams in Real Life. You hummed, walking by and taking the environment in. It was nice, to say the least. While you were wandering around his space, he stayed near the doorway, observing you as you took note of every detail.
Once you observed everything you were curious about, you looked towards Ryuji. In this lighting, you could see the faint red on his cheeks, probably from the drinks. His hair was slightly more disheveled than usual, and the upper buttons of his collar were popped open. You shut your eyes to avoid looking at the skin underneath. He took his time looking at you too, noting how you weren’t wearing your jacket anymore, revealing a black tank top that defined more than was holy. He swallowed deeply, turning around and opening the door to his bedroom. “I’ve got some more research things in here.” You jumped at his words, quickly following behind him until you entered his room.
Ryuji’s voice was made neatly, a black duvet covering a king mattress with white sheets. His room was exactly as you expected it would be. You hummed in delight at the decor in his room, extremely minimal yet appealing in a way. He pushed himself towards his bed, using his upper strength once more to pull himself onto the furniture. He sat on the duvet, staring up towards your body that was walking around and continuing to read each title in his bookshelves. Clearing his voice to get your attention, he leaned on his arm and tilted his head to hold your eye contact once you turned around.
The sight was a pleasant one, his eyes observing you as his hand moved to unbutton his blazer, shifting it to fall off his shoulders. You weren’t sure if you were being perverted, but you swore he was doing it on purpose, with the way his eyes went up and down your body.
“Umm,” “Why don’t you sit next to me, L/n?” You nodded as if possessed, moving quickly to lay on his bed, although leaving a little bit of space between you two. He seemed to disapprove, staring straight at you as he leaned in slightly. “You know, once we enter the other world, we'll be deprived of a lot. Our purpose will be to win every game and search for death after the afterlife. Are you sure you’re fully… committed?” His voice was low, reserved yet inquisitive, as if he was testing your will to continue. “Yes, I know. As long as I’m with you, Ryuji, I’ll be okay.” He seemed to appreciate your words, humming before leaning closer.
You could feel his breath near your face, yet you refused to look into his eyes. He smiled at this, moving even closer until his lips finally brushed yours. It was as if the kiss unlocked something within you, as you quickly reciprocated. The hand he was not resting on held your face, cradling it closer to his to move you further into the kiss. Humming in content, you pushed your face deeper into his hold.
While you had imagined this scenario many times, you were shocked to find out it would soon become a reality — one that you enjoyed a lot.
He didn’t let you think for long, pushing you onto his bed and deepening the kiss, opening his mouth and using his tongue to make you do the same. His spit mixed with yours, every small groan of his going straight towards your stomach. You were growing desperate, placing your arms around his neck to pull him closer before falling on your back. He was on top of you, kissing you sloppily, his hand that cradled your face moving to unbutton his shirt. Your arms released him, slightly sitting up to remove your own, leaving you in a bra and leggings, while he still had his pants on.
Once his shirt was successfully off, Ryuji held your face again, sighing into another kiss. You let him do so, happily taking everything he gave you. You were so flustered you began to feel an ache, whining into his lips. He pecked you once more before pushing himself up until he was sitting on his side, hovering above you.
A shocked gasp came out of your throat as he shifted until he was near your legs, hands bunching up your leggings at the top and looking at you while he took them off slowly. Your hands gripped the duvet underneath you in preparation, looking back into his eyes. Your vision only slipped occasionally to look towards his abdomen. It was clear he worked out, given by his strong biceps and his built stomach. The sight made you more needy, and the way you began to squeeze your legs told him so.
Ryuji smirked at the sight, holding your newly bare legs in his hands before moving up towards your thighs. You bit your lip, sighing at the feeling of his calloused fingers rubbing gentle circles along your inner legs. His lips were next, starting near the top of your knee and leaving small kisses all the way up until he reached where he knew you wanted him to be. You closed your legs, nerves building up yet he simply shook his head, placing his hands under your thighs and pulling them apart. “Need to show that you’re fully committed, baby. Will you show me?” His voice was rough, clouded by lust, and his breath was heavy. You nodded, “Yes, please.” You answered, moving your hands to his hair to push him closer to you.
He obliged quickly, pressing his nose onto your clothed center, inhaling your scent before his lips enveloped your clothed core. The feeling of his tongue, although covered, was heavenly. He ate up your sighs, diving deeper while his hands grabbed at the flesh of your legs. It was messy, sloppy as he made out with your cunt. Soon, his desperation took over, encouraged by your whimpers, so he hooked his fingers on the flimsy material of your panties, pushing them to the side and revealing your intimate area.
A moan got stuck in Ryuji’s throat, feeling his body heat up at the sight of your glistening core. He wasted no time, pushing himself even closer, letting his lips feel you directly. He groaned at your taste, loud enough to drown out your own noises of pleasure.
He alternated between licking a stripe up your cunt, and sucking onto your clit, noticing how you would pull his hair harshly when he did so. One of his hands let go of your thighs in favor of pushing itself into you, yet at the loss of contact, you began to squirm away from his hold. “S’ too much…” Your voice was slurry, high pitched. He shook his head, slapping the skin of your thigh lightly as a warning before moving it back towards your hole. His tongue skillfully played with your clit, hoping to distract you from the faint stretch as his finger moved inside of you up until his knuckle.
Ryuji’s hand holding your thigh began to claw into your skin, grasping onto you with full force, while you writhed in his hold, overwhelmed by the stimulation you were receiving. He was subconsciously clenching his stomach, shifting his body on the mattress. “Fuck,” he whined, dazed, “your pussy tastes so good.” The whisper made you shiver, eyes rolling back as you finally reached your high, cumming on his tongue and fingers. He groaned back into your cunt as you clenched on him, reaching his own climax as he rutted into the bed.
The room was enveloped in heavy breaths and sighs as he continued his actions, sucking your clit until you begged him to stop, feeling too overstimulated. He obliged, pushing himself next to you and holding himself up on his elbow once more, admiring your fucked out state. He grinned, moving away to retrieve something from his nightstand. After a minute of calming down and breathing slowly, you looked over to see what he was doing. In his hand, Ryuji held a vial with some sort of liquid in it. Looking your way, he smiled, “Are you ready?” You smiled back, nodding and laying your head back down as he pushed the liquid up to your lips. Closing your eyes, you let him hold you gently as you both dozed off, waking up soon in the Borderlands.
a/n: guys i've been so obsessed with ryuji since s3 dropped i need him so bad...
Things I appreciated in the aib tv show (not necessarily what they did better, just what I enjoyed):
- Chota: they made him a great friend who's a smart and capable man and not just a whiny perv I love adap chota with my whole heart
- Putting Tatta in tag: a great intro to his character and I like that Arisu could recognize him at the beach instead of just walking into an entirely unfamiliar place
- Similarly, Tatta's mechanic backstory: I thought it was a really nice change to his character and the parallel between his bosses hand getting crushed and him crushing his own hand made me cry
- Banda and Yaba's casting: idc if they don't look like the manga it was so perfect hayato isomura killed that role
- Making the trio + Usagi grown adults: again, I so really like that they were teenagers in the manga, probably more than the show still, but I also kinda like that they were in their 20s bc it allowed them to cast fitting actors and then adapt the storyline around them vs either casting 30 y/os to play children or casting actual children
- Hatter's character design: idk I just think he's such a vibe like he was so menacing in the manga which was cool but adap hatter just exudes this confidence that commands everyone to listen to him without having to physically intimidate the beach members
- The pieces of dark hair + grown roots in Chishiya's crusty ass wig: OK YEAH the wig sucked we all know, but I like that they actually put effort into making it look like bleached black hair and not just straight blond from root to tip, mans already canonically wears eyeliner like ofc he bleaches his own hair
- The rabbit hunting scene where Arisu and Usagi are all smiley and playful: soft arisagi soft arisagi soft arisagi I love them your honor let them be happy please
- Arisagi S2 reunion scene: don't get me wrong I hateee that they got split up in S2 instead of just adding Dodo but also THAT HUGGGGG AGH I love arisagi guys sue me for liking a straight ship idc I needed to see that so bad
- Asahi and Momoka's video documentation of being dealers: I loveeee the idea that the players got the tiniest amount of insight into the dealers' side but not nearly enough to answer all their questions, it honestly feels like a bigger mystery than if they had left the two storylines completely separate
