I rest my case... Went into tears to listen to ghost eyes falling upon his baby doll...

When this song [LA54(309)] was released, Miles posted a clip from the music video and the caption explains basically the whole meaning of the song.
The caption reads:
“This is a spooky intense number that reflects on a reoccurring dream I would have whilst living in LA. I’d be walking down the corridor of a hotel, knock on room 309 and when I would enter I would wake up in a shock. The time would be 3.55 each time!” x
I think that some of us were surprised that after a couple of albums without mentioning any pronouns in songs that Miles included several references to she or her in the Sunlight In The Shadows album.
After many (many) listens, sometimes things just click in my head, so I thought I'd share.
Disclaimer - these are my thoughts only. I have no facts. I don't know Miles to ask if this is the correct interpretation. Please don't show any hate. If you don't like this type of post, please don't read under the cut.

Love is Cruel is covered in this post here. I feel that Miles is personifying 'Love' as a female midnight scooter rider.

Sunlight In The Shadows is about those days when you're down, depressed, blaming yourself for anything that doesn't go right. I won't go into the lyrics bc I don't want to trigger anyone (self included) but some of them HIT HARD.
So why does Miles include the above bridge section, in such a personal song about his mind? Lyrics that on first glance, suggests he's on the pull?
There's possibly an argument to say that he's depressed because he can't be with this girl, but I feel that this is changing the narrative of the song. He's been talking about how bad he feels, and how he has to fight against this mood.
What if the 'girl' in this instance is referring to a mood also? I could see the 'girl' being a personification for real happiness, or peace of mind. That would be 'good looking' to me if I was low. He has the optimism that someday, he'll feel okay.
(PS. Later in Blue Skies, he actually tells us, "Gone are the dark days / That once kept me down," so he was right to be optimistic).

Walk On The Ocean, is again a massively personal song and one that Miles talks about a lot, which shows that it's important to him. He has said that when performing it, he goes into a sort of trance.
This second verse again, seems at odds with the feel of the song if you take the words at face value. Who is this girl who took his worries away from him? A therapist? Is there an ex-girlfriend who took his mind off things when things got tough? Maybe it's a friend who appeared to be his girlfriend to prevent any gossip about Miles and ahem, someone else?
The song is about wanting the impossible (walk on the ocean) and being truthful about himself (cause a commotion). It's about wanting freedom and coming to terms with who you are. One day, I'll post an analysis about it all - for now, I think that the 'she' in this song is spirituality. ‘She’ is being at peace with yourself. Self acceptance. Miles began to mention spirituality in the promo interviews for SITS. People have remarked how he now seems calmer, happier and more present.
The interesting thing about studying Miles’ lyrics is that they can initially appear to be very simple and about something very straightforward. But when you look closely, they have hidden meanings that tie in with what he’s telling us in interviews.
Or maybe I’m wrong and it’s just about a girl? 🤷♀️
Totally agree on the complexity of Miles' lyricism. I could see the Walk on the Ocean 'she' as spirituality... but also... love, and probably not the conventional kind (reminds me of the afternoon's hat):
"I don't need any reasons" (to feel this kind of love)
"cause I believe it was destiny" (insert here the influence of his newborn spiritualism)
It would be a nice circle to view SITS as a story with LOVE as a cruel experience initially, but absolutely needed in the end 🥹
