Guys Euphoria's third season is so ass. I've been thinking abt writing a fanfic abt my own characters but like heavily inspired by euphoria would yall read it or nah. cus idk i was also thinking abt rewriting the 3 season but....god i dont even know how to begin lol

How is it that you can take two VERY flawed but overall good seasons of a tv show that tries in its own to portrait real life struggles with sexuality and addiction and turn it into cowboys selling drugs and pew pew pew pew boobs boobs boobs? I am so sick of people saying it was “symbolic” or “realistic” just because it was fucking sad. I am not saying that rue should have gotten a happy ending but how is it that THAT was the most character development in the whole fucking season?
The side characters all had better storylines, sometimes even acting. While the main characters basically forgot EVERYTHING from the past TWO seasons. Cassie never addresses her need for male validation, Maddy is just this girl boss who now is a pimp? Nate loses some toes and just dies, no mentions of his ?maybe? queer sexuality, his thing with Jules, his TOXICITY AND THE FACT HE USED TO BE BORDERLINE EVIL?? Jules gets this whole “he’s treating you like an object” plot line that goes absolutely nowhere. Lexie has absolutely nothing going on for her except maybe now she’s found god? So everything is good?(Not even gonna get into that one) and Kat exploded and doesn’t exist anymore.
They showed three different shots of kitty’s ass but couldn’t even have an actual scene of season one characters grieving their friend. We don’t even actually see her mom.
I am sorry if this doesn’t make any sense but I am losing my mind. And to anyone saying “it’s because in the real world sometimes good people lose and bad people win” try not to tilt your head sideways or else your melted ass brain is gonna start leaking out of your ears
I like that Jacob Elordi has a doe eyed feminine non-binary swag. The movies are not utilizing him properly PLEASE let him unlock his full non-binary potential… Frankenstein came close…. Let him play a nice man for once… a hairstylist or sumthin
Nate could have been so, so, so much more. It's probably because of Jacob, there are rumours that he doesn't want to be associated with Euphoria and I get it — he may have grown out of it. It still doesn't change the fact that what they did with his character this season is totall bullshit.
First of all I am NOT excusing his actions, but you know what? People change. And he did in the third season whtever you like it or not.
His implied queerness, it jsut suddenly disappeared. He's been struggling with it and societal expectations, especially Cal's his whole life and in third season they apparently don't affect him anymore? Everyone may interpret Euphoria differently, and for me he was queer. If not queer then still struggling with his sexuality anyway. Another aspect is the fact that his father's porn didn't affect him anymore either? It was the core to his whole personality, his self hatred and lack of self-worth which he projected onto people appearing to be "confident and powerful". Sexual trauma doesn't just...disappear like that. Additionally his need for control suddenly got totally erased out of his personality too? It was what made him Nate — the prior feelings of helplessness back from his childhood made him into the angry at the world teen from S1 and S2. These are just the plot-holes but it's not even the point yet.
What's the point is that in S3 he genuinely tried to be better. Compare him to Nate from S1/2 he was way better. He really tried to make Cassie happy and cared about their relationship. And I know now you're gonna tell me "but the used Cassie for money🤬"...don't you understand how coerced people act? ESPECIALLY after being beaten up at his wedding. That guy was scared as hell give him a bit of slack here.
What I'm talking about is that he used to be a bad person but was changing. He was changing because he WANTED to change. He WANTED to be better. That takes courage and self-awarness. As a person who deeply relates to Nate and his struggles with self-image and vulnerability, it's such a fuckinf shame how his story ended. Why are you killing off the only character that actually war trying to be better? (Well Rue too okay) It's so harmful for people who are aware that they have done not too pretty things when they were younfer but are trying to actively change and become a better person. It's like showing and addict that he's gonna die from overdose while they try to heal. It's just taking their hope away.
Offtopic but I am also thinking that Rue might die as well which could also be connected to this topic at some point. It's just such a shame. He didn't deserve it.
If you like my latest mermay picture [cw for mild gore], lemme tell you how easy it was to do the coloring for it. I used 3 layers to make it from black and white to full color, using a correction layer called a Gradient Map. This will be for the program Clip Studio Paint, but there's equivalent functions across programs, you just gotta do some research about where your gradient map options are hiding
In CSP, you go to Layer > New Correction Layer > Gradient Map
and this is what a gradient map does when placed above a black and white drawing;
It's a process that sounds complicated but is actually super easy to learn and exploit; gradient maps take a specific value (black to white and all the greys in the middle) and assign it a color. By adjusting where those lil ^ arrows sit on the gradient, you change which value is assigned that color, thus changing what part of your drawing is that color.
all the gradient maps I used are community made presets I downloaded for free using the CSP community asset portal
now pair that with layer masks, and you can isolate where on the picture the gradient map is in effect. Below is the gradient map that's Just the red for the couch, a few character accents, and the tail;
above in the orange is the layer mask button as well as where it is displayed on your layer (in CSP) once you apply it. When you want to change your layer mask, you click that second square on your layer; with that selected, you now can control what part of that layer is being shown without actually changing whats on that layer.
With the layer mask selected, you can erase whats there, then go over it with a brush or a selection tool and add it back as if it was never erased at all. The positive parts (what is visible on the picture) are displayed in white, the negative parts (what's been erased) are displayed in black. Obviously you Have to make sure you're interacting with the layer mask and not the layer itself (the layer itself is selected in the screen cap above, that's why it has that in-program white outline) or you really will just erase shit you can only get back by hitting 'undo'.
then you can add more gradient maps above or below the first one, depending on what looks best;
this is the bottom most gradient map layer arranged in my folder of gradient maps, because I wanted this orange as the foundation of the pic, the rest building off it.
the last gradient map layer is smushed between the red and the orange, and this is how I got those blue shadows and tail accents.
there is a Single value assigned that blue, but the gradient aspect allows it to be more versatile, and the browns making up the majority of the gradient help it feel like an extension of the orange layer. It's important to make sure your gradients harmonize like that otherwise it becomes more obvious they are two separate gradients interacting rather than the illusion of a more complex, selective color palette. While you can get a lot of depth out of a single gradient map, when you layer them, you're able to easily add shading, quickly change the color of a specific part of the picture and overall just cheat your way to a very cohesive, intricately colored picture with WAY less effort and color picking on your part.
