“On the whole, I talk to no one. I concentrate on the way the light would strike filled Mason jars on a kitchen windowsill. I lie here in the sunlight, watch the hummingbird.”
— Joan Didion, from Play It As It Lays
“Poem that opened you– The opposite of a wound. Didn’t the world Come pouring through?”
— Gregory Orr, from How Beautiful the Beloved (via a-pair-of-ragged-claws)
my circle so small i almost cut myself off
i feel like this is supposed to sound comical but when i think about it, is so real. like with everything going on - life, work, family - just growing up, there’s such little time for having a massive circle. so it will inherently get small but also it’s so easy to not even give time to yourself. when was the last time i hung out with myself? gave her the time of day?

in a way, i can argue that i’ve loved you most;
you received the most patience from me.
