Uh... fwiw, the major character death is Cas, but he comes back, like, immidiately. But this is a fic that will eventually cover 3 seassons so like... fam. you've seen the show.

you should read Beowulf (Roy Liuzza or Michael Alexander translation). this is relevant to spn. you will unlock a level of Destiel truly impossible to describe (and finally have an explanation for why Sam & Dean are so weird about each other, no its not anything you or anyone else on tumblr has guessed). But like seriously the folklore rabbit hole that this unlocks is like... Beowulf itself doesn't have any Destiel parallels in it, but it has a Sam parallel and a Dean parallel. And istg you don't even really KNOW Destiel til you know the Dean parallel figure in this poem. trust me

It has been a while since I engaged with Beowulf - I've been in my Greek Era for a season. I've been shifting back into Arthurian Shit. And, I was reading a lot of Carl Jung when I first binged Supernatural late last year.

Basically, I believe you. It's all archetypes, and I live for this shit. I think it's just as logical and valid to build a reading list for a ship as it is to make a playlist. It's all literature. It's all folklore. It's all a pleasure and a joy and we should feast because, really, the greatest weapon we have is our joy. Shit's bleak - let's indulge in the classics and overthink campy CW shows.

Preamble, because you don't know me.

Yeah. So. 20 years ago I got a degree in creative writing and basically did nothing with it. Fun fact - the guy who wrote John Winchester's journal was my capstone advisor. Which is... so wild considering I had zero interest in Supernatural until late 2025. Man, if only I'd known then what I know now. Actually, it's probably for the best.

It's been a long time since I've done any creative-fiction writing - just years and years of academic research. Not that academia isn't both a hoot AND a holler, but creative writing is a muscle...

I also can't stop thinking about destiel - so, here's a messy little experiment.

I have several more in drafts - but I figured I'd ease into it because it's Pride and I wanted The Boys To Kiss.

Funny story, I went looking for this cursed fucking video recently and it seems like the cw scrubbed it from YouTube (curious, because videos from the same campaign for other shows are still up).
