"Itâs lovely to think John would have been 80. And, you know, thatâs...thatâs... itâs nice to imagine him at 80. I think he would...I think he would be, very literate. I think he would be writing, uh, not necessarily just music cause he was starting to get into, uh, he did, he did a couple of little books. Um, and I think, I think he would have matured nicely." (2020)
"[I use] pencil and paper. Iâm not a typist. Funnily enough, John became a red-hot typist towards the end of his life. He had always had this âArts Correspondent in Kowloonâ kind of dream. But for me itâs pencil and paper." (2001)
"He might have become a novelist. That's something he wanted to do." (1989)

What is a dominant quality of the sound of John Lennon and Paul McCartney singing together? Joy. Joy in performance. Joy in listening to one anotherâs voices. Joy in whatever kind of reinforcement is going on here. â Jonathan Gould

I feel fans of 1968 hot mess Paul need to know about the Lamborghini incident, as told to Octane car magazine:
âI decided Iâd get a Lamborghini. Iâm not exactly sure when, but it was towards the end of the â60s. January â68 sounds about right. It was red, I liked it, a flash motor. I went everywhere in it.
âMy main recollection is of breaking down in Soho, on one of those long streets leading down to Wardour Street. Iâm tooling along and she breaks down, conks out⊠So, Iâm on my own, out of the car, pushing it in broad daylight down the street, and I can hear the workmen: âNice car, Paul! Bit of trouble?â Taking the piss something rotten, you know, but I suppose I deserved it.â
Mark Dixon, Was this Paul McCartneyâs Lamborghini 400GT?, Octane
Paul: âI liked that slightly f@ggy way we sangâvery Beatley.â
Paul McCartney, Many Years From Now by Barry Miles. 1997 (pg.151).
For context: Paul is talking about their song Iâll Get You.
Paul saying f@ggy caught me off guard, I just had to share it. Also, Paulâs comment reminds me of this outtake of Two of Us
John: It's like were a couple of queens
Paul: Yeah well y'know. Well, I mean that's....
John and Paul: (singing and laughing) Were a couple of queens
