So much of the hatred against gig economy drivers is just racism tbh but nobody wants to have that conversation
I spent a while in the DFW airport queue, which is just a massive hidden parking lot at the airport where Uber and Lyft drivers must stay while waiting to be assigned a ride. Since it's too expensive to sit there with your car idling in the A/C, just about everyone is milling about in the grass outside of their cars to avoid baking to death in the setting sun. It's surprisingly welcoming compared to the stops I've had to make running food delivery. People are singing, dancing, and sharing sodas out of a cooler.
There was literally maybe one white person at a time in the crowd for the entire hour I had to wait for my turn. Out of a crowd of between 200 and 300 people at any given moment.
I'm not saying that Uber/Lyft drivers are all innocent little babs that need protecting (driver conduct is a serious issue ever since they stopped training ppl and making sure they had decent communication skills) but you NEED to listen for anti-immigrant sentiment and racism when conversations about driver conduct come up bc some of you are literally validating stories like "a Black man had the audacity to say hello to ME" as evidence that they're all bad...
it's so hard to be socially conscious and also maintain a friendly relationship with people i work with
like there's only so many times you can say "hey don't say that, that's rude/bigoted/a dogwhistle" before everyone just stops talking to you. nothing changes except you're alone now. ask how i know.
it's easier to ignore the slightly offputting tranny than to actually change how you act dontchaknow
right, I'm not supposed to blog about anything serious or I'll get censored or deleted or whatever. how about that world cup, huh
Hey, it's me, the child who the fairies replaced with you. I just wanted to let you know that I transitioned, and since you're a perfect copy of me, well... try out she/her pronouns, okay?
or it/its but you'll probably figure that out on your own as a changeling
Since first playing Silksong, I've been pretty certain somebody on Team Cherry was either a woman or raised as one.
I wasn't sure who, nor did I particularly care for those details, and I certainly didn't speculate publicly. That's their business. But I was fairly sure there was a woman deeply involved with the game's creation.
Because while queerness and gender fuckery has always been built into the core of these games, Silksong specifically is, among other things, a game about mothers and daughters and complex female relationships. And while there are talented cis male authors who write some fantastic female characters, Silksong presents the exquisite, multifaceted grief of female identity with a nuance that can only come from the intimate knowledge of lived experience.
Anyways, congratulations to Ms. Jasmine Vine. May she be celebrated in the communities her work helped create.
Now that the lead dev of silksong has publicly come out, I can share this funny story.
So, back in october I was at a monthly trans meetup just chatting with the other women there. We were talking about how all the best games are made by transfems, and I made the joke that someone from team cherry needs to transition. One of the other women cackled at my joke. At the time I didn't think anything of it.
Fast forward one month. The person who cackled at my joke brought a friend with her this time. I was chatting with this new girl for a while, getting to know her, as you do.
After like an hour of chatting, the conversation turns to silksong and team cherry. I casually say "My impression of team cherry is that they're all really chill dudes," and I swear to fucking god the girl next to me says, "Yeah, we are."
Cue me being absolutely dumbfounded. I actually couldn't believe that my offhand joke from a month ago was real.
Anyway that's how I met the lead developer of silksong.
i think the crux of human misery stems from the fact that our skeleton just wants to sit around and accumulate dust in an ancient barrow (that is the innate imperative of all skeletal remains in-case you didn’t know) but our meat has its own agenda which creates this fundamental conflict of interests
This month people have been tearing Flock cameras off their poles.
This month people have been tearing Flock cameras off their poles. Perched above public streets, they are birdlike things, weatherproof, and they photograph every passing car and file it in a searchable national database. Somebody cut two of them in half at Washington Avenue and Westcott in Houston, spray-painted the wreckage, and left an American flag on one of them. Police were notified on the morning of the Fourth of July. Somebody severed a camera in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The police department posted the photograph itself and collected more than twenty thousand comments. “Not all heroes wear capes.” “Give them a medal.” Here is what the cameras do when nobody cuts them down. Cops use them to hunt immigrants and to follow ICE targets across state lines and to find women who ended pregnancies in states where that is a crime and to watch exes and to watch women they want, without a warrant and without a judge. A cop types a reason in a box and the box does not check. A man in Burleson, Texas, told deputies his girlfriend had taken abortion pills. He showed them the photographs, the FedEx envelope, the instructions. Deputies opened a death investigation into a non-viable fetus, and the district attorney told them the state could not charge her, and they searched anyway: 83,345 cameras across 6,809 networks, a month of everywhere she had been. The reason they typed was had an abortion, search for female. The search reached Illinois and Washington, where what she did was legal. They found her in Dallas. She came into the sheriff’s office a week later, and they thought she had come to explain the fetus, and she had come to report that the man who called them had put a gun to her head. A sheriff in Jerome County, Idaho ran his wife’s plate more than seven hundred times in three months. He typed the same reason every time. Test. The attorney general found nothing to charge him with. He retired in April. The Institute for Justice counts at least twenty-two officers who used the system to track people they were romantically interested in, and calls that almost certainly an undercount. And the cameras keep falling.
Become ungovernable.
Its still so funny that they even thought to put this in the game in the first place. Yeah sure to get 100% completion you have to actively break the terms of service on purpose. This is normal
imagine if they werent fucked by EA what else they could have done
hearing anything about the nolan odyssey is so funny. it's like "they cut the extremely important and infamous nobody scene" "the cyclops is a giant puppet that they put in an actual historical cave + gave circe animatronics for her pig transformation instead of cgi" "they dumped plastic skeletons in an environmentally protected location they were not supposed to be in" "they recreated ancient greek instruments in order to have an accurate score" "all of odysseus's agency is basically gone" "anne hathaway actually learned how to weave ancient looms" "the women in this movie are treated like shit" "they actually buried actors alive to get those underworld shots" "did you see what the fuck zendaya was fucking wearing holy shit you can't DO THAT, MA'AM" "what do you mean there was a legitimate epic the musical reference" "NOT A SINGLE FUCKING GREEK WAS CAST IN THIS MOVIE"
like did nolan have two guys standing at his side at all times whispering ideas in his ear and one told the truth and the other told lies and they didnt tell him which was which until they wrapped production cause
most disgusting part of Tumblr Culture is the kid who love to sag their pirt. not only to sag the jam lid, but to pirt it up. what a waste.

Jasmine Vine, lead programmer of Hollow Knight & Silksong just transitioned!! I'm so happy for her!❤️🏳️⚧️
her bluesky header & icon are so cute too 🥰
You listen to music regularly? Why? Have you even tried quitting? Could you quit? You get music stuck in your head? Wow. You're so ruined and music brained. I bet you make your partners listen to music with you when you have sex. Music addiction has really ruined a whole generation. You know it's not realistic to expect reverb in real life, right? You're probably so desensitized that you don't even feel anything anymore when you hear a bird singing that it wants some fuck.
I don't have a problem with people listening to music per se, but I do have a problem with the music industry exploiting & mistreating artists.
Personally, I abstain from all music in order to keep my hands clean but really music should just be illegal outright to protect musicians from abuse.
holy shit this person in the notes
Never forget what Matthew Mullenweg did to Predstrogen. Never forget our sisters vanishing faster and faster, while staff jumps between denying and admitting it was them.
There are actual tears in my eyes rn can you believe people are this stupid and walk among us all the time
Hey so @i-suggest-therapy's blog background is a vent post I wrote just before trying to kill myself. It's a post I wrote because I was trying to kill myself. I cannot stress enough that this "reasonable" person decided to plaster the time a trans woman tried to kill herself for everyone to see. I don't think there are words in the english language for how horrid that is a thing to do. Please report this? Like come on?
My attempted suicide is sill being plastered online for laughs. My harassers call me a liar about it, remember the kind of people these are
This hasn't changed. My attempted suicide is put in public for thousands to laugh at and tumblr refuses to respond to my report. Tumblr staff will ban transfems and hide our existence but sees no wrong in letting this slide.
Staff hasn't done anything, of course.
Just in case it wasn't clear, that was the only thing i got from staff about this in more than four months. You can mock a trans woman's suicide attempt (caused by the harassment staff refused to do anything about) and if she complains staff will just look the other way or ban her.
