With the talk about the KotOR remake, the subject of Revan's gender has naturally come up, with various dudes asserting Revan is canonically a man and the old debates starting up again.
So, I have a question: does anybody actually like the canon Revan? The aforementioned dudes treat him as canon, but it never seems like they think the writing is any good, only that it's official work which must be acknowledged. Did anyone play KotOR, read the book, play Shadow of Revan, and think through it all "this is a satisfying continuation and I find this character interesting"? I'm not opposed to people liking it, but I've never seen anyone praise SWTOR's use of Revan.
Male Revan and female Exile is SWTOR canon.
Outside of SWTOR “canon Revan” doesn’t like really make sense, because it’s not a real character. It is a vessel with some predefined features that is meant to be filled by player’s gameplay and choices. Everyone has their own Revan(s), so when they are confronted with “completed Revan” (like in SWTOR) they don’t like it.
That’s the number one reason why I think that any attempt at adapting KOTOR for movie/series is a really bad idea. Unless you go KOTOR comics route with your own cast and keep Revan as a background cameo.
