thinking about when margaret atwood said ‘my audience is God, because who the hell else could understand me’ there’s just... no one else. i could spend hours, days explaining myself to someone and even at my most eloquent, i just know it would still be misunderstood or misinterpreted or judged. there’s just no one else. and it brings me so much comfort sometimes in knowing there’s no one else but Him because there’s so many moments in the day where people don’t see how hard you’re trying, where maybe even you yourself don’t acknowledge how much you’re going through and how much you have been through.. but He has. every breakdown, every cry, every time you’ve put yourself back together, every win. He has and that will always always be enough for me. always.

I challenge anyone reading this to disconnect as much as possible, especially from social media. Disconnect from the synthetic excitement, synthetic anger, and synthetic satisfaction. Social networks are designed to drain you and fill the voids in your life with fake interactions that force you to come back for more, by the very nature of them being fake. Reclaim your real life, talk to real living, breathing humans, write real notes in real journals, read real books with margins you can scribble in, look at art that stands inches before you, write real letters that can be saved for life, form real opinions from real life experiences. I have disconnected almost entirely, and I’m never going back. Try it, and you will thank yourself. Then tell everyone else you care about to do the same.
