Week 2 - Friday 9th October Last week we spent the entire week drawing, in different styles, material and on different papers. It was a lot of drawing for one week and a lot of black and white. Despite the amount of grey scale that I had to use, I still really enjoyed this task. This week at last we were introduced to colour. Using our own objects and themes (mine being sea/marine) we applied colour to our drawings. I thought this would be really good and that I wouldn't struggle too much, I was wrong. It started off well, I continued on from my summer project and i had a really good colour palette in place. However, half way through the week I felt I was repeating myself in each drawing.. With these circles or "onion rings". I tried to come away from it and change shape but it just wasn't working. At last I had my tutorial and I was given a many ideas and suggestions that really helped. I need to work bigger and NOT DESIGN, this is not a designing module. Last night I began to cut up painting and photocopy and just play. Already I'm seeing improvement, I've decided to push the idea of patter clash and juxtapositions in my concept- new found love for designers Basso and Brooke! Monoprint workshop: Last year we didn't mono type workshops, but this year we introduced to using colour and textures to create some interesting prints. I enjoyed this workshop but I think I want to have go again at creating colours and marks that are relevant to my current work.
