Hello everyone 😊 Not much going on today. 3 more articles to read. Likely going to finish writing my discussion post and start an essay!
Yesterday I:
- Read 3 articles
- Went book shopping!
I’m always looking for good non-fiction books (by scholars and academics) so feel free to recommend some! Alternatively, if you are looking for recommendations send me a message and I’ll happily provide some!
People below your standards will try to convince you that you shouldn't have any standards at all
I love spirituality, what I'm about to say is coming from a place of love and not malice
but spirituality, no matter what that means for you, is no replacement for psychiatry

There will always be suffering. Choose the discomfort that helps you to grow.
I think we are all have stopped looking forward to these shape drawings. There are only so many ways you can set up three or four foam shapes, so it definitely gets old. Though at the end of the day no matter what we’re drawing it just comes down to shapes, value, and edges anyway. These are just relatively dull shapes, values, and edges.
I set one up almost the same as my first one, from week one of school. There’s not a huge improvement, really, I just spent much longer developing the recent one. But the process is flowing easier, I’m getting things sketched in and the general masses keyed in about an hour. I’m already seeing some application to this practice as we start with the live nude figure in charcoal. It’s the same process, except the shapes are in the form of a person instead of this abstract arrangement, which makes it much more difficult.

sneak peek of my new bujo! i’m really loving the minimal style tbh, and maybe it’ll be easier to keep up with during the school year when i’m too busy to make artsy spreads 💞

This week, I broke up with a partner I still love very much. But it's best for the both of us to do some growing up on our own.
I found refuge from my turbulent emotions at my favorite place in the city for figure drawing. I focused and enjoyed my day (with minimal tears). Ballpoint pen warm ups on the left and a long pose in graphite on the right.
one of the best things i committed to learning early on in my career was emotional intelligence. understanding emotions, studying the human neuro-system, understanding how we think what we think. human beings by nature are emotional creatures. but there is no logic in a mind crowded with emotions. it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have any, it just means you need to learn how to control them. and to control them, you need to understand how they work. i see people let their emotions get in the way of their goals and dreams every day. someone hurts your feelings, someone breaks your heart etc and you automatically check out for a week.
understanding human emotions is also a good way to gain self confidence. because once you look at things from a logical stand point, the less affect there is on how things make you feel. we humans make too many things about ourselves. we do too many things to fill emotional voids. where, if you took your feelings, pity parties or guilt trips out of the picture- you wouldn’t be clouded and can look at the glass half full.
some of the books i read and highly recommend y’all read are:
Buddhas Brain
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence 2.0
The Art of Seduction
48 Laws of Power
Thinking Fast & Slow
HBR- On Emotional Intelligence
The Laws of Human Nature
7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Nutrient Power
