William Anderson wasn’t a good person. He knew that and had had made his peace with it. He had done horrible things.
Will was also a father. And if he said so himself, a rather devoted on at that. There was nothing he loved more than his daughter. Not his ex wife when they had still been a couple, not his work, not even science in its totality. He had loved her cute little baby smile and the was she stumbled now as an infant. He loved her relentless curiosity and the way she wanted to try everything, no matter how much it terrified him at times.
He loved his daughter. And because he loved her he had been ready to fight for custody at the divorce, even if in the end her mother hadn't put up a fight, had even seemed happy for their daughter to stay with him for the most part. A choice that was highly questionable, considering she knew well what kind of person Will was. What he made his money with.
Will had tried to stop doing the hands on jobs for a while. Tried sticking to inventing and creating the occasional weapon for old contacts to use against Heroes. But children were expensive and so was a mortgage for the house he had bought when he had still been together with Ada's mother. And legal science the field to pay only semi-well. And as much as he enjoyed Programming it was not something he could stick to on it's own, or it turn out pay for every necessity. So he started to get back into the business. Only on few half time jobs, if you could call it that and more as an advisor a planer someone crashing the gadgets, to most of the things one could do at home. He could hardly leave his daughter alone at home and even if he had started bringing her to kindergarten she got old enough, which was an other thing he had to pay for.
So Will didn't go clean. He couldn't and he didn't really want to. He liked the work, being able to experiment with out having to beg for funding and know the Oh so mighty hero's form their pedestal a bit. The same way he always had. But he did his best to take less risks, to stay more in the shadows than he had before. Hell, he had even forced himself to network more, to broaden his contacts beyond the few trusted allies he got. Hade gotten something like a network together. That was risky in its own way, also really exhausting at times, but it kept him in buissnes, and also gave him a way to keep active with out having to be at the front lines.
As long as it made it possible to stay close to his daughter to keep his beautiful Ada save and give her a better childhood thank he had had he was happy. Beeing gable to give her A save home. Books about the things that interested her, currently she loved stories about trains and the mechanics of them. And maybe could put some money aside for her wen she was older.
an other text that is only fitting for the prompt if you see it broaudly.
But I really wanted to explore Ada's dad more, Or at least ada's story, And I kind of think I did a decent job at it. There is of cause more I could only allude to, don't know yet or like didn't fit the text. I'm just getting to know the Anderson Family at the moment.
Also the prompt didn't fit ada herself as well.
Have a good week and a nice weekend!
