Final pt. 3
Once again I wanted to work on harvesting more positivity. Like I said in my earlier post the end of the semester brings a lot of stress and doubt. It’s important to remember that you are trying your best and can only control so much. I hung this in a restaurant bathroom hoping it can reach a lot of people.

For my earth piece I was inspired by the work of my classmates. I liked now people used stones to create shapes so I wanted to do something similar with what I could find in my yard. It kind of reminds me of a halo or aura.

For my final I wanted to focus on positivity like I have in most my posts. I think after finals and the conclusion of the semester there can be many mixed emotions. I was hoping someone would come across this and see that all their hard work is amounting to something greater.
For my project o wanted to focus on positivity! There’s been a lot of tragedy occurring around the Bonaventure community and I wanted to focus on more positivity!
Feminism
For my feminism project, I laid down in the grass and had one of my roommates trace me with the leaves. Then I collected more leaves to fill in the trace of my body. I chose to use leaves because they reflect the changing seasons, and being a senior I’m also about to experience a lot of change after I graduate.
For my Futurism assignment I decided to draw what I think a car would look like in 2060. I think with how fast technology is increasing, a flying car would be more than possible. The idea was to make it a hybrid between a car and an airplane. The car would be able to do both fly and drive normally.
Earth Art
For my project I chose to make a spiral out of rocks. Spirals symbolize the cycle of life. The shape is one of the oldest and most puzzling sacred images known. They were first thought of beginning with the ancient Greek and they appear in nearly every single society in the ancient world. Additionally, they are one of the earliest examples of human creative expression.
Feminism - Vivek Boddakayala
For this project, I made this silhouette by first carving an outline of myself in the dirt to represent my own persona. I next outlined the figure with briars. I next filled the inside of the torso with flowers. The significance of this set design was that it is a statement of how I view myself in the eyes of others. I would say that I am normally a very amicable person however I have a difficult time displaying any emotional vulnerability. However, inside I'd lie to think I am a very sympathetic person and I try to put others' interests above mine.
For the surrealism project I made a pair of sandals out of a Blue Light box, these are great for the warm weather we are starting to have here is Allegany!
For my nature piece I tried to portray a woman out of rocks. For years we have seen woman prized and pitted in art. I used natural materials I found around my yard. I focused on placing the body of the figure in this ring or daisies. I thought their natural growth pattern could create a halo affect and bring feelings of celebration to the piece.
I was inspired my by the third option. I loved the line work and wanted to recreate something similar with my own personal flair. I used color to highlight some of the shapes that can be found within the lines.
For this weeks assignment I used a ski sock with holes in them to represent the piece of garbage. As a result I decided to paint little skiers on canvas to tell the story of the piece of garbages prior use. I had a lot of fun with this. I really wanted to create texture that looked like carves of skiing on the slopes. To do this I mixed a little bit of flour into white paint and scraped it on the canvas. To secure the sock I used super glue.
I choose to photograph my dad this week. From what I learned this week Barbra Streisand was unapologetically herself, so is my dad. Raising three daughters in the age of social media was not easy. He certainly dished out more advice about beauty than he could’ve imagined. Below are his answers to the questions listed in the assignment.
1. “I always tell my girls that they are beautiful just the way they are. Confidence alone will captivate everyone in a room. For the next generation I would recommend finding what you love about yourself. When you find yourself comparing yourself to others you can always remind yourself I have this trait I like and it’s unique and special to me”
2. “I’d never say I rebelled against a beauty standard but maybe that’s because I do things I like. For men a beauty standard is different from women. I find myself spending more time staying active so I can stay in the shape I was when I was younger. Maybe I exercise for more reasons than my health, so I guess you could say that’s a beauty standard I’m stuck in.”
3. “My girls are always inspiring me. I see how confident they are in themselves and the great things they bring to this world. I see traits of myself and their mother in them that make me so proud.”
For my abstract midterm I wanted to focus on light. For my digital photo I used my blank canvas as my background. I found this to be very helpful when visualizing what I wanted to paint. I used bright colors that draw the eye and simple design. To add contrast I tried to make the darker colors more squiggled and the bright colors almost straight with a slight bend. I think it creates the question of why not symmetry between the colors?
I found it more difficult to draw the digital piece. Although I wasn’t aiming for perfection, it came out a lot sloppier than I intended. I thought my physical painting was a lot better portrayal of my vision. However, I did struggle with the paint. It was a lot more opaque then I wanted so the brightness didn’t come through quite like I wanted.
For my abstract piece is started with drawing the line for a minute. From there I used the line as a boundary to add drops of paint. I wanted to create dots that brought texture to the painting. I decided to add an additional dot out of my line to create curiosity in the viewer.
For my collage I focused a bit more on my childhood because it shaped who I am today. I was born in 2000 and grew up with the evolution of apple and of course the iPhone. I added in cut outs of emojis and a phone to represent this. I have loved fashion my whole life. I credit this to the bold fashion of the early 2000s. I added pictures of similar outfits from then. Furthermore I loved any cheesy movie and still do so i added clips of movies. In the center I added a picture of a celebrity I think resembles me. In sum I still love fashion, I shamelessly love cheesy romance movies and credit a lot of my interest in pop culture to the evolution of the iPhone.
I focused on the color green for this weeks assignment. My magazines mostly consist of gardening, interior design and old teen vogues I found at my grandmas house. If you look closely at the angular green shapes you’ll see pieces of a kitchen back splash that I cut up, as well as a quartz counter top. You’ll also see a swatch of green wallpaper with white flowers too.
