anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

Just saw a GIF of Clint Barton in casual clothes holding a bow and am now convinced that in universe he has the same famous person situation as Tony Hawk. He is completely unrecognized in public unless in the vicinity of That One Object. ‘It’s random middle aged guy.’ He picks up a bow. ‘Holy shit it’s Hawkeye!’

Bucky watched as Clint scaled the side of the building, ignoring the rusted and precarious fire escape in favour of fingertip holds on windowsills, impossible footholds, improbable stretches. 

“Guy’s flexible,” he said, off-hand, to Natasha. 

“You’re having a thought,” she said, amused. “A lot of people have that thought. Then they get to know him.” 

“Huh,” Bucky said. 

Then he got to know him. 

Late night commiserating over nightmares with ice cream and crappy TV. Post-mission banter and paper airplane wars. Trick shot battles at the range - which Clint always won, of course, ‘cos Hydra didn’t exactly value the ability to shoot while upside down. 

Bucky started to value time spent with Clint over any other activity. Started to value Clint’s smiles over any other sight. Three months in he leaned against a wall next to Natasha, thoughtful silence between them. 

“You’re still having a thought,” she said. 

Bucky stayed silent. 

“If you hurt him,” she said, and he almost half-smiled, ‘cos he’d given the few dates Steve’d ever managed that talk, too. “I’ll wait for him to be done with you,” she said, “and then kill you.” 

“He won’t kill me?” Bucky asked, amused. 

“He likes you,” Natasha told him. Bucky looked at her sidelong, put a little offended into his tone. 

“You don’t like me?” 

“I don’t love you,” she said, and he blinked, blinked again. 

“He -”

“His balance is exceptional,” she said, “but he falls fast and hard. Don’t get into this if you’re not ready for that.” She pushed away from the wall, continuing without looking around him, at the mess of confusion that currently showed on his face. “Don’t hurt him.”

“I don’t wanna hurt him,” he said, soft, low, more revealing than he meant it. 

“That’s not even nearly the same thing,” she said.

This is EXACTLY why Bucky Barnes is my favorite character and it brings me so much joy to finally see a little bit of it on screen.

I feel like an extremely minor 616!Bucky moment that really sums up who Bucky is as a character is when he and Natasha are strolling in the rain and he begins to whine about it and she’s like “...seriously? That’s too much for you? You fought Nazis.” and he just straight up says “If I have to compare everything to fighting Nazis, I’ll never get to complain about anything.” and I remember stopping and smiling because that’s it. Bucky hits every trope of the grimdark hero but instead of becoming the grimdark hero he just... complains a lot about inconsequential things in ways that hurt no one. He remains sweet and genuinely upbeat as a rule, he’s just... gonna make sure the world knows when he’s Mildly Inconvenienced. He’s 100% on board with helping you move on a weekend! He’s just gonna complain about random stuff while he does it and he won’t expect you to understand half of what he’s even talking about, he just has a complaining quota to meet, like a psychological fitbit that measures harmless irritation
