6. How much planning have you done for your game?
Oh god, what haven’t I planned?
A lot of the work I do for Overcast behind the scenes is pure planning. I like to think I’m very detail oriented, so I put a lot of work into making out every part of the game something to be learned or discovered.
I’ll take entire days just planning out small lore details, character designs, and maps from top to bottom; and giving them a reason for being in the game. I’m admittedly a bit of a perfectionist too, so even minuscule pieces of the game I put extreme amounts of thought into, enough to fill entire sketchbooks with sketches like these~
Of course, this means more time away from the pixel art and programming part of developing the game; so I’d recommend to any new devs reading this to plan in moderation so you can actually start your game~ |D
9. What have been some of your biggest obstacles working on the game so far?

Haha, definitely working on this while juggling a day job! I’m a barista by day, gamedev by night (and off day’s) so I’m working a good 90% of the time I’m conscious. :.D
I plan for all that to change soon however, when I reach a certain part in developing the demo; there’s a certain secret plan I want to conduct after the demo is released. If it’s successful, I will be able to work solely on Overcast as my day and night job; speeding up the development process, and giving me more time to work on it and rest when I must.
I can’t promise anything or go into details just yet, I want to be at a certain place with the demo before I make any promises; however I will go more in depth with this plan when more of Overcast is developed and put into the engine.
Until then, keep an eye an ear out for news…. ;)))

I’m going to start doing a series of pixel animation exercises every week to keep the devblog fresh while I work, reply or tag with your favorite monster/enemy from any RPG/JRPG and I may animate it!

Yo! This actually looks really good! Your guy's art direction and style is professional; dare I say akin to Persona-level work.
thanks~! It’s actually just me by myself working on everything in the game at the moment, from the story, to the promo art, to the pixel art/animation, Overcast is a solo project for now!
Persona was actually a huge influence for me aesthetics-wise, so it’s nice to see you appreciate the art direction~ :,D
