I love James Baldwin simply because he validates my existence. He already (and more eloquently) thought, said and wrote everything I want to—but with those things having already been thought, written and said, it’s up to those who’ve come after him to work to affect change.
“A black gay person who is a sexual conundrum to society is already, long before the question of sexuality comes into it, menaced and marked because he’s black or she’s black. The sexual question comes after the question of color; it’s simply one more aspect of the danger in which all black people live. I think white gay people feel cheated because they were born, in principle, into a society in which they were supposed to be safe. The anomaly of their sexuality puts them in danger, unexpectedly. Their reaction seems to me in direct proportion to the sense of feeling cheated of the advantages which acrue to white people in a white society. There’s an element, it has always seemed to me, of bewilderment and complaint. Now that may sound very harsh, but the gay world as such is no more prepared to accept black people than anywhere else in society.”
—James Baldwin
hello everyone! i'm asking for help for my mother!
on june 8, she underwent gallbladder removal surgery, and just two days later, she fainted and broke her foot.
she needs a medication called xarelto, an anticoagulant prescribed by the doctor to prevent blood clots after surgery. due to her history of severe varicose veins, the doctor specifically recommended xarelto and did not prescribe the generic version.
the medication costs 306.57 BRL = 59.50 USD), which is currently beyond what we can afford after all the medical and hospitalization expenses.

what’s it called when you’re so disconnected from reality that cold water doesn’t feel like anything and you can barely taste food anymore
i love when parents used to say you’ll understand when you’re an adult and then you become an adult and you’re like ohhh i do understand. i understand that you were a weird fucking cunt. i know this because now i am a weird fucking cunt too. and i still don’t treat kids that way

Actually, you are enough. Even if you don’t work. Or study. Or go out. Or have friends. Or have family. You’re enough because you exist and your existence is enough to be enough because you are not a product. You are not a sum of output. You are not a task to complete. But because you are something the universe wanted and put here even if you’ll never understand why. Somewhere in the cosmos your existence makes a difference, even if it’s not the way others existences do.
