I might have had to watch a bunch of videos about Homura and the movie to do my research and create this illustration...

But it was definitely worth it! Plus, thanks to this illustration, I've been able to make some pretty nice frames to use in Clip Studio hehe

My Thoughts on Easthies

After finishing all the chapters of Wha that have been published so far, one of the things I’m most curious about is: what’s the story behind Easthies and forbidden magic, and what will they do to make him pay for what he did at the Silver Night Festival

He’s a character I’ve really liked, even with how little he’s appeared so far. I thought he was going to cause more trouble after how he treated Coco (and Agott) at the beginning and how he was going to have his sights set on her, but it isn’t until he finds out about the plan devised on The Silver Night Festival that he becomes a threat to Coco again (and the other people in the area, haha)

He has shown that he cares about his companions, and that while his actions against Coco and Agethe are excessive and indefensible (just lisent to them, man!), he's capable of setting aside his shitty attitude toward Coco and Qifrey and protecting them from a threat, but why he’s so afraid of making exceptions regarding forbidden magic so much so that he confronts his former master, who is one of the Three Wise, and Luluci?(Queen)

One of the main reasons I’ve become interested in this character is what Luluci mentions: even though he speaks reverently of the pact and insists that no exceptions should be made—not even for his own friend, Galga—he does so with a look of fear

He doesn't act because he blindly believes that following the pact is the right thing to do, but because he's afraid of what not following it might entail, and I think that's very important to keep in mind and could mean he has a redemption arc (in my opinion)

I mean, another thing we see about the character is that he wants the world to be calm and peaceful (from Chapter 26, when he was talking to Utowin in his office)

Practically all the characters shown in the manga have nuances and start to doubt their beliefs about what is right or wrong, which is very interesting, and I doubt Easthies is the exception, so let’s see what they do with him after he went crazy on the Silver Night Fetival

[I feel like he was exposed to the dangers of forbidden magic at a young age due to someone's good intentions backfiring horrifically and since then he's been petrified of it, because of how easy it is. He sees the Pact as a shield to keep away genuine horrors beyond people's imagination. Someone was definitely taken from him through the use of forbidden magic and it's likely there was an abusive situation involved.]

Yeah, I totally agree with you!

I also believe that he has lost someone close to him, or several, either because of forbidden magic or even because of someone who revealed the secret of magic.

I really like the way you interpret his view of the pact as a shield, and I think it's quite accurate hehe

Idk, there are so many possibilities!! But what I do know is that I want to see more of him in the manga!
